  1. So I just spent the last 30 minutes trying to figure out why my Screensaver list in Personalization only says (none) so for the hell of it, I disabled Aero Glass and the screensavers all came back. Re-enabled Aero Glass and they disappeared. The screensaver I have set still comes on, but I was unable to change it.

Might be something to look into. I'm using RC3. Maybe some others who are using this one can also check that out.

  2. Got RC3 running so far. I tried the optimizeshaderresource and came to find that the taskbar on my second monitor was showing what was on the first monitor but it was blurred as if a second taskbar was behind it with the icons.

Also, in the titlebar of applications, I was seeing what looked like another window behind them. Here's a screenshot...

Notice the titlebars of the windows and the taskbar on the second monitor (on the right).

    Disabling "OptimizeShaderResource" fixes the issue.

  3. You can't remove the about message. Stop asking about it or it'll be left there permanently. You have no idea how annoying it is to see on almost every page someone asking how to get rid of the about message. Read the first god **** post. This is a BETA and not for production use.

Deal with it or stop using it.

  4. This is the problem that I've been having for a little while now.

I have to keep disabling/re-enabling Aero Glass through AGTweaker in order to get the blur in the taskbar back. Right now, it is completely transparent.

Here's my debug log. Had to upload to Dropbox. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11231941/Debug.log

    Hope it helps.

    Restart windows explorer... :boring:

Yeah. Restarted the whole computer, still completely transparent. Your solution isnt one. Perhaps you didn't read what I said. If I disable/enable glass, the taskbar will have blur for a while. After some time though, it will become completely transparent without me restarting Explorer or anything. It is transparent right now, if I turn off glass and turn it back on via AGTweaker, it will have blur again. That is a workaround, not a solution. That is the point to the entire post.

:thumbup for being sarcastic and being wrong, amirite?

Are you using SIB, Start8 or other software to re-enable the start menu?

I use Start8. I just checked the setting to "disable taskbar translucency" in the options and it brought the blur back. So, its possible Start8 is disabling the blur? Didnt think of that.

  5. raiden89 : there is only one reason for this. You have some application which periodically disables blur on taskbar.

Welp, I have Cyberfox, Skype, Process Hacker, Dropbox, Teamviewer, Rainmeter, AeroRainbow, RocketDock, and Puush running most of the time along with the Mail app. I sometimes watch movies or something in Media Center or Media Player and watch stuff in the browser.

So it would have to be one of them, but I would not know which. Either way, regardless of what is running, the blur shouldn't change. Why would it change in the taskbar and not the titlebars, etc because of the same application if that is the case? I gave you that debug log, shouldn't there be something in it?

  7. This is an awesome project and I love using it. I'm looking forward to the final and I wanted to mention one thing...

I have noticed that sometimes, the taskbar will go completely transparent with no blur and to get it back, I just use AGTweaker to disable/enable glass and its got blur again, but after a while it'll go back to being completely transparent. Perhaps something to look into?

Besides the Demo message every once in a while, it certainly makes Windows 8 all the better. I'd be glad to pay for this if it was a paid product.

    Keep it up, man.
