  1. Thanks Dencorso. Actually an old Acrobat's cd with Pdfwriter would be ideal. However, to my current need the plain text solution is sufficient ...i hope Ah, many good wishes for Christmas for you and all
  2. Hi all! I have found a partial (poor) solution for the pdf printer. > http://paraschopra.com/software/pdfproducer.php Unfortunately, it's relevant only for only text documents, but in this case it works fine.
  3. I believe that HoppaLong only means this driver run fine from his experience. I know the wintricks generic drive USB mass storage driver, based on old Lexar driver. Nusb by Maximus-Decim is no doubt the best option, but I love the simple and minimalistic solution and used it with success. In a single test, even i was able to recognize an external dvd drive unit.
  4. Hi all! Is there anyone who has had direct experience on this? On internet i found conficting opinion about their reliability.
  5. Hi Lost in Space 2012. You can find it here: http://web.archive.org/web/20050829225952/http://website.lineone.net/~chris_m/download.htmlEnjoy!
  6. Nope :-/ I couldn't resist the temptation to check on the field. I have just set up a 98SE fresh installation for testing. With original IE5.0: negative With IE5.5: negative
  7. Meanwhile i have tried in another mode. I have copied the related registry keys from another pc (no 98) into my computer. Now, when i open IE6, i found a mouse gestures item into tools menù. If i click on it, i obtain an IE crash, caused by MouseGestures.dll. Thanks Jaclaz for your help, i already tried unsuccessful a manual registration with regsvr32. I forgot to specify it before.
  8. I would like just to use this particular program. I'm trying to install it, specifically the version described here: http://www.ysgyfarnog.co.uk/utilities/mousegestures/old/ This version is declared to be compatible with Internet Explorer 5 or greater, and requires Windows 98/Windows NT 4 or greater, but does not really work. The installer seems to work, it copies the two files correctly, creates the registry key for the uninstall, but (strange!) it fails to register MouseGestures.dll Same result for the latest version. It's possible that the requirements presented are wrong? What do you think?
  9. Small update Last version of EnZip was the 3.00, released in 12 June 2000. I downloaded it several years ago from homepage: http://website.lineone.net/~chris_m. It's offline now.
  10. Having availability, you can get the same result using the Windows ME version of notepad. No window dialog to manage, just like your hint.
  11. FlMail is a new graphical email client for DOS https://code.google.com/p/nanox-microwindows-nxlib-fltk-for-dos/wiki/FlMail ---- An old DOS browser that is even a GUI FTP client (i don't tried it) http://www.nettamer.net/tamer.html
  12. You can also remove the version through regedit: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop -> PaintDesktopVersion and you change the value from 1 to 0
  13. I can confirm. New install (last summer) and relatives update defs (yesterday) is still ok.
  14. Task manager from Tihiy's tools: You can install it and when you need to reboot explorer or another process, you simply click "Ctrl-Shift-Esc", then file -> run new process.
  15. Yes, CharlesF, it's this. After changing the string, from false to true, if i select a multimedia file, i see correctly the bar on the left of the windows, but all the controls are inactive. The current version of windows media player control is: 6.4.07.1124 IE6 installed. No kernelex.
  16. Hello! I enabled the multimedial preview in folder.htt. Now, when i select a file, the little command bar is showed, but all the buttons are shaded and i cannot start the playback. Any ideas?
  17. You can use the wildcards if you using FIND in couple with command FOR
  18. Have you tried to install it in safe mode?
  19. Last update vps 130402-1, a few minutes ago Hopefully really it will continue, but this time, unlike the previous alerts, they have eliminated the possibility to download the installation file from the website.
  20. Very helpful suggestion, Loblo. Finally, i find the solution. The key is this: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DeskView] "Settings"=hex:01,00,00,00,21,02,00,00 Changing the value from 21 to 20, the auto arrange is disabled. Manual edit is not possible because explorer.exe is running. Only with reboot or if i stop the process, the change is applied and the registry updated. Once i identified the key, i have found a confirm here: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/21814-registry-tweaks-part-1/page__st__425 No, this key is absent on windows 98. Last year i tried it, for verify if the "align to grid" could be applied just as well, but without success. A related discussion is here: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/22555-auto-arrange-desktop-icons-setting/ At this point i wonder if this could be activated using the deskview key. The only Microsoft deskview reference I've found doesn't help http://support.microsoft.com/kb/226798
  21. Hello Coolman, thank you, this is pacific. I specified the real question in the post subtitle. I don't understand where is saved the setting. I have actived auto arrange. I have monitor the registry and the files. Nothing. No apparent change. Then I did another test: restore a previous registry. The setting back off. Then the change is there certainly, but i can't identify it!
  22. To view pagefile.sys, open folder option, uncheck hide protected operating system files, and select show hidden files and folders. Now, you look for pagefile in both drives. You verify the active pagefile location into xp: "my computer" -> "properties" -> "advanced" -> "performance area" -> "Settings" -> "Advance" -> "Change" it shows you where is stored. If pagefile.sys is showed be active into 98 drive, try to change the path in xp drive. It's also possible that the current swap file on your computer is shared incorrectly between 98 and xp. You verify that the content of system.ini (windows 98) don't contains this string in [386Enh] : PagingFile=C:\PAGEFILE.SYS PagingDrive=C In a normal 98 installation, the only string is "PagingDrive=C" and the standard swap file is win386.swp (by default is in C:\windows). You look into win 98 drive. A swap setting bad configuration could have caused your problem. Look here for the right steps: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;175639 Sorry if I don't know be clearer
  23. ....... 5- I don't know where i found those filess. What is it? Have you selected in folder options -> "show hidden files and folders" and "hide protected operating system files"?
