  1. the main issue is still the large time needed to to start all applications at Windows logon. Try to disable all unnecessary programs . This I don't understand as there are only 2 programs listed under msconfig to boot at startup and nothing in the startup folder... How would I go about searching out these other applications? Thanks again, Regards
  2. Ok, done and done... https://www.dropbox.com/s/00jghvbdwbxyozl/fix3-boot-etl.7z
  3. Regarding the MSE AND DEFENDER issue I'm T a loss as I have uninstalled MSE and didn't have defender running due to MSE so not sure ... I'll take a fresh look in the morning regarding both MSE and the hosts file but I don't use any ad blockers so should only be the default hosts file. Thanks for help and be in touch soon (4:36am here). EDIT #1: Ok so i check my hosts file and i found why its so large. Spybot search and Destroy add hundreds/thousands of entries...should i remove these entries/spybot or would you recommend leaving that there? Regarding the MSE/Defender issue im not sure as from what i can tell MSE is gone from my system and Defender isnt enabled. EDIT #2: On second look i found Defender still auto scanning and ON. Not sure how i missed it but will now re-time and post up ETL files a little later with the following command: xbootmgr -trace boot -traceFlags BASE+CSWITCH+DRIVERS+POWER -stackwalk profile -resultPath C:\TEMP\6-Fix
  4. Hi, I just realised that i didnt send the post to you, so sorry to make you wait: https://www.dropbox.com/s/i3xlw4q4bor9ly0/fix2-boot-etl.7z That is the latest etl file. I installed Avast for its low boot impact compared to a couple other before i got you second message about Avir and AVG. Ill check them as well after we sought out some more issues... Any help you can give is awesome. Regards
  5. Do you know why it shows -1? I thought the number might be to high but that didn't make sense What does the -stackwalk profile command do and what would you recommend instead of MSE in that case if you don't mind me asking. Also I'll post it up within the hour. Have to get access to laptop.
  6. Ok so much faster but still really slow.... I posted the new file at: https://www.dropbox.com/s/uq2s7b6g1z3o89l/fix1-boot-etl.7z Let me know if you can help anymore or need anything else. Much appreciated, JohnC.
  7. Ill make the change ad re-trace, thanks for your help so far.

Post-Fix: <- Most current https://www.dropbox.com/s/240phjpkm9rlg02/post-boot-etl.7z Please let me know if those links dont work as i have never used Dropbox share function... Regards
  9. Hi magicandre1981, Im wondering if your still willing to have a look at start-up times etc. I have gone through your tutorial and the HDD optimisation you linked to and have made it a little faster but it is still very long time. I have narrowed the longest time down to the WinlogonInit and PostExplorerPeriod sections of the log generated but in the services are im unable to find much after the initial changes i made. Before doing your tutorial i also went through my usual speed up routine which i have attached which hopefully didn't cause this problem but basically it uninstalls unneeded/unused software, checks for virus/trojan/etc and removes old drivers. I have attached the before and after XML summaries but the etl's before is 480KB and after is 603KB. What is it that you would need if you were going to look? Best regards, JohnC. summary_boot_before.xml summary_boot_after.xml speedUpRoutine.txt
