  1. 'Sup! I'm starting a new topic because I believe there will be many people like me who have downloaded the Windows 8.1 Update 1, and happened to have its login screen broken with the annoying message of "Your DWM is not compatible with aero glass", making your Windows installation unusable. Also, I don't know the "proper" way of uninstalling Aero Glass. Before installing Windows 8.1 Update 1 I really don't know if there are any registry tricks involved. I did install the Aero Glass using the installer. As I didn't find anything on "Programs and Features", I decided to erase the Aero Glass folder. This didn't work. Fortunately, I was able too boot normally again by renaming "DWMGlass.dll" to "DWMGlass.dll.bak" in the C:\Windows directory. I believe this file can be deleted (I didn't do it because I didn't know what would happen if I did). I don't know if this "Uninstalls" the program, but I now have my Update 1 installation up and running. If you have a broken Windows 8.1 Update 1 installation because you didn't remove Aero Glass Launch Safe Mode. This is kind of tricky because Windows loads normally to the login screen. The problem is that you're stuck with the buzzing message of "Your DWM is not compatible with aero glass" and you can't do a thing. So either try pressing F8 repeatedly when you see the BIOS, or the logo of your computer, so you can access recovery mode OR try forcing shut down when the Loading circles appear at the boot screen. Select "Safe Mode". Your computer will boot normally. Then, go to "This PC", Click Local Disk C (Or whatever your Windows installation is) and go to the "Windows" folder, in there search for "DWMGlass.dll", either rename it or delete it. Then boot again. See, if anyone is actually reading this post before upgrading to Update 1, hope this helps
  2. AMAZING! It's working pretty good! No dropdowns, little lags.... GREAT! Can't Wait for the final release!
  3. Guys. This program has been dropped. Windows 7 Explorer For Windows 8 has been transformed into Startisback http://www.startisback.com Unfortunately you need to pay for it. I got my license for it on Black Friday @ 1 U.S. This allows you to run metro apps, and much more. It's fast, fluid, and Windows 8 works 100% with it.
  4. Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you I have always cried for the Glass feature on Windows 8. Was pretty disappointed when the developing version was stopped by Microsoft, (China Forum using Tihiy's Win7ExplorerforWin8). You just brought my dream back to life THANKS A LOT and keep up the good job!
  5. Taking this picture as basis.... I think that the Hibernate function is missing from that drop down menu. Not that I'm using it as the default, but just saying.... BTW, AMAZING WORK! I like it more than Explorer7 for Win8, because I can use the music app
  6. You know, after spending re reading this post by nth time, I've come to notice that I do have the "handle this stuff" toast. It usually happens whenever I install a new browser.
  7. I need to thank you once more. I just upgraded my netbook to 8 and the explorer7 made it faster!
  8. @Tihiy: Pal, I really appreciate all the work you've done. Been using it since beta 0 and I couldn't be happier. I see this solution and Startisback better than Start8's. I'll try donating some money tomorrow, as long as I can get around some bucks. There are several reasons to this statement. First of all, I never owned a legit copy of Windows 7, due to its high price. I managed to do the "activation period trick" thing for 120 days (Wait for activation period expired and then rearmed 3 times) and then I would format the computer for maintenance and resetting the counter. With Windows 8 so cheap, I just needed to ugprade my old Vista for just 40$. Furthermore I won't be installing an array of updates for some time, since I'll be using Win 8's refresh feature each 3 months or so. Regarding the start screen, I'm pretty neutral about it: There are things which are better, others which are worse. IMO it needs to be polished further. Meanwhile Thiyi's solution brings me back the start menu jump lists which reduce the amount of space of putting my programs on the taskbar, since I do constant switching and I don't have a specific sets of apps, aside from 11 always on applications. Second, the start screen hangs when I put my old lappy's CPU to 100% (Core 2 Duo Mobile @ 2.4GHz) for encoding videos, so it stresses me a little bit the thought of an unexpected shutdown after spending 1-4 hours of encode (depending the video quality). Other than that, I'm fine and really really happy with Windows 8 (Or 7.5 )
  9. Have you tried going to Start -> Devices and Printers -> Add device? That's how I added my Phone to the PC
  10. And just tested it... and it's true. Haha, I've never clicked the Bluetooth icon before. I always use right click and receive/send a file. It works like a charm with this program. What I'm saying is that Bluetooth works flawless by right clicking on it.
