Has anyone seen any issue in prior builds where having USB devices such as mouse/keyboard plugged into certain ports causing issues with programs or other devices installed? Basically what I have done is taken the win7pe build and customized the image for diagnostics of some specific PCs. All drivers, and programs have been installed. I have added touchscreen support and everything was working well with our original unit. A similar unit is now being built except with a different style touchscreen. All OS images are the same for this machine so I assume no drivers have changed for this. We use a program that is built to read motherboard information such as serial number and other information. When I have USB and mouse plugged in on certain ports during startup this program fails to function. Does anyone have any ideas? Driver issues? Device mapping problem? I am lost at this point. If I leave these devices unplugged from the certain USB ports on bootup the program functions properly. I can plug in the devices to the problematic ports after bootup with no issues.

I (Think) I am using the make_pe3 program that was for the ISO but i'm not sure. I created the .wim file and just pulled it out of the directory it was created to and started modifying it. How can I tell which version I am using?

It was actually the Make_PE program that "wimb" had posted. I tested a base image produced from the program using the media version without any of my customizations and this also didn't work. I saw the same error. It must be something with the way that particular image is created.

Hey Guys, I have build a WinPE image from the WinPE Builder from this site. I have done all of my customizations to the image and am ready for optimization. I keep getting an error in DISM on just this one image. Others are working fine. I have booted to the image, done what the image is intended to do an then tried to apply the profile but it is not working. Can anyone please help? This is the error that I am seeing that I am assuming is causing the process to fail, but I don't know what it means or why it is happening. 2012-09-04 14:58:04, Error DISM Windows PE Image Manager: PID=2760 Required file not found: \programdata\microsoft\windows\wer - CPEImageManager::ApplyProfile 2012-09-04 14:58:04, Error DISM DISM.EXE: PE Provider processed the command line but failed. Yes this worked. I uninstalled the device via device manager and then scanned for hardware changes. I was able to automatically install the drivers as I had also preloaded them into the PE image. Should I try manually installing the drivers? This didn't fix the webcam though. It's still not working. If I actually remove the driver when I unistall the camera, when I go to re-install using the same driver I see the message "The parameter is incorrect". Hey Kullenen_Ask, Any ideas I can try on this? I'm totally stumped. This is the last portion of a test image i'm creating and I just can't get it to work no matter how many things I try. Please help if you can.

Yes, I installed the camera successfully using DISM to an offline copy of the system. I used the generic driver files I pulled out of %systemroot%\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository. I used the "usbvideo" files. These installed fine. Then in device manager it wasn't showing up as an "Imaging Device" so I found out I needed the sti.dll and sti_ci.dll files. I copied all of these over and it fixed that issue. I have also tried copying all files I can find regarding "msvideo" and also all registry files I can find that relate to "usbvideo". Still doesn't work.

I'll have to check my registry settings in a few min. I have a meeting. I know I added all of the "sti.dll" and "stil_ci.dll" files as device manager was not seeing it as an imaging device before. I'll get back to you guys in a little while. Thanks for the quick reply. I do have the registry entry in my registry. Should there be a subkey for the actual camera? I am going to pull that key out of a working Windows installation to see if that works. The programs I am using still can't see the camera.

Has anyone tried using their webcam within the WINPE environment? I am trying to use a generic USB camera with the embedded Windows drivers. I have managed to get device manager to see the device as an "Imaging Device" like it should but no programs I use can actually use the webcam. I'm at a loss.
