  1. BWC's drivers support the HD 3000 too... And you can just install it instead of integrating it.
  2. You need UUR-11. Then, download the latest Intel HD graphics from Blackwingcat, install, then re-install your PC driver (ACPI Multiprocessor PC) and reboot. Should work. How much RAM does the system have, and have you tried PAE?
  3. How did you get the Intel MEI driver to work? Which GPU are you using?
  4. I guess I can configure avast! to not scan the file if this is the case. Instead of modding the file, isn't it possible to disable the SFC via registry?
  5. UPDATE: I'm having troubles with PAE. The standby is unstable. So PAE is disabled for now.
  6. Well, I am using an older version of the Intel HD Forceware, let me upgrade to the latest one and see if we have any difference. EDIT: No difference, but interestingly I've launched Process Explorer and found the culprit: The Hardware Interrupt Process. I might try some BIOS settings, I'll get back to you. NEW EDIT: No luck. I think the only way to solve this problem is to buy a GPU. Do you think that would help? And I'm very excited about the stable UURollup 11!
  7. You need to slipstream USP 5.1. That's how I did it. You will have to use a tool called nLite, download the USP 5.1 from the http://www.windows2000.tk archive, then download nLite, slipstream and burn a new CD. Then you can install Win2K, UR2, UUR and your drivers & software. http://min.us/l368eXYLN6XV8 Just to show you what pae is, here is a screencast of my system with PAE enabled. As you can see, we have 4GB of RAM fully supported.
  8. You need 48-bit LBA support. My copy of Win2K has it, and I could easily install onto the 500GB HDD. Just search on how to enable it, and you will have large HDD support.
  9. Windows 2000 should work on that system. But if your system has 10GBs of RAM, then Win2K will only address 8GB of RAM via PAE. You will need an updated Win2K install source, UR2 download here, and the daily version of UURollup here. Then the drivers. You will need blackwingcat's ATi Forceware download here. Set the SATA Controller to IDE, or integrade drivers if possible. The Sound and ethernet should work downloading off of the Internet. I'm in doubt of the WiFi, but maybe it will also work with UUR. (like mine does) So in short, do all this, and you should have Win2K running. I reccommend you secure it with avast! antivirus.
  10. 100% sure. No lag, at all. But I will try your /3GB ram trick. And thanks for the Identifier, I'll run it and see what I get. My drivers are fine. But some programs (g.g. Advanced SystemCare 6's Performance monitor) lag the system a bit. Nothing else. Sometimes the "System" process sucks up 80% of the CPU, and that's what causes the lag. But it does it for no reason at all. Edit: The sound recorder you gave me also gives me the same problems, maybe cause I don't have a mic plugged in? But in that case, it shouldn't have worked at all. I'll try it with a mic, and see the results. NEW EDIT: I tried your /3GB trick and it just made things worse. Win2K had trouble logging on, the Explorer wouldn't load, and no other program worked. And I found out a different problem with PAE, when I go to standby, everything becomes unstable. So, back to no PAE. Hibernation doesn't seem to work, it goes into hibernation and shuts off, but it doesn't resume. I never use hibernation, only standby, that too a couple of times.
  11. About installing with just USP 5.1, that's what I did. (The CD installs a few necessary after updates afterwards, however USB driver does not change) After messing with the USB drivers, USB function became available. Then I installed UR2, UUR (daily) HD Graphics forceware, and all the other drivers off of the MoBo CD. But I can't find the management engine driver. (PCI Simple Communications Controller). EDIT: This is a very minor problem, but ever since I've enabled PAE, I've been experiencing slight bit of lag during launching of resource hungry applications. However, it goes away instantly after the program loads.. I think we found a bug, Houston. However it might be that I am using PAE for so little. The problem might not come if I use more than 4GB of RAM. I'm not exactly sure. So, should I disable PAE? And to make it worse, I'm getting out of memory errors on Sound recorder!!! NEW EDIT: I've bit the bullet and disabled PAE (for now, will re enable it when I get 8GB of RAM) and the mystery lagging is gone. But Sound Recorder is still asking for memory when there is already plenty. I'm guessing we need the Win2k recorder back.
  12. You find it in the Accessories menu in the Start>Programs menu.
  13. I'm 99% sure that they don't test their new hardware with Windows 2000 at all If it's not a problem a problem, could you (AnX or bluenote) try to install the system with only USP5.1 integrated this time (with no other updates or drivers) and see what happens? I can confirm The easiest way to disable hardware acceleration once a newer version of Firefox has been already installed and is unusable is to boot the system into VGA Mode, open Firefox and disable it then. OK, I am upgrading to a newer firefox. EDIT: I've done what you've said, and it works great! No black screen, no lag (like in firefox 10) it's awesome!
  14. You could try and edit the .inf to support Win2k. In case you don't know about UURollup, get the daily version, and try to launch the driver with Application Compatibility launcher. It has worked for me on my Wireless card driver.
  15. As an experiment, I uninstalled the “USB 2.0 Root Hub” entries; predictably, I then lose USB function. However, when I reboot, Windows does its “searching, found new hardware, generic USB hub” routine, and I have USB function again, Windows having automatically detected the workable drivers. I don’t understand why it doesn’t do that in the first place. I'm thinking Intel hardwired their 6 Series/7 Series chipsets to not enable automatic installation of USB on Win2k. The reason being probably because of SP4's driver not being compatible with the chipset. They want to give the user a chance to install the updated usb drivers, and then, enable USB support the hard way. Pretty stupid, if you ask me.
  16. OK. How can I disable Firefox's acceleration leaving other stuff running with it?
  17. I guess I can configure avast! to not scan the file if this is the case.
  18. Alright, I've turned on PAE and Win2K can recognize all 4GB of RAM! But on a more serious note, the SFC.DLL in the daily version of UUR is infected with a triojan, according to avast!. I've remedied by using the UR1 version (dated 2004).
  19. I don't use Speedstep, as far as I know, Win2k needs a driver for it to work. Last time I tried, BSOD. But on another PC, not this one. Speedstep is useless, it lowers down performance, and no power user has been friends with it. Not to mention that all the drivers are for laptops and not desktops. And of course, I need to use the PAE hack. It displays 3.5GB.
  20. Have you disabled the "Use hardware acceleration when possible" options in the ADVANCED>GENERAL tab in Firefox? I know that would work, but I need hardware acceleration whilst using Flash. This is a problem when using forceware drivers. I'm using Firefox 10, which works great with Adblock Plus, and will install Chrome soon.
  21. I've solved the problem by simply letting Win2k detect the drivers using Device Manager. And one more thing, I've downloaded the latest daily UURollup for the HD Graphics Driver, because it needs blackwingcat's kernel. It runs great, I got an initial BSOD when the HD graphics installed via the installer, but I used Windows' INF install method and it works great! But I have to use QupZilla because the latest firefox turns all black when I start it up.
  22. For the Graphics, I used Blackwingcat's forceware, alog with the latest (as of now) daily UURollup 11. It runs great, all 3d tests work, the system is running cool. I will report on more later.
  23. Here is how to fix the USB Problem on 3rd Gen systems. Something in the newer 2nd/3rd Gen Intel Chipsets prevents automatic USB install on Win2k due to a possible BSOD by using the old SP4 USB drivers (you need the newer UR1 or USP 5.1 drivers) The solution: Manually install the drivers by running the device manager's Update driver wizard.
  24. I have a very similar system (Ivy Bridge) which when Win2k installs, it does not detect the USB 2 Ports! So, If I use the oem10.inf, will the USB work?
  25. Hello MSFN Users. I got a new PC with a Gigabyte H61 Motherboard. I installed Windows 2000 on it, the installation went smooth and it has the USP 5.1 USB drivers. I've gotten the USB to work, all the drivers installed, and the HD graphics also (used blackwingcat's forceware). Update Rollup 2 and Daily UURollup 11 have been installed. Specs: Intel Pentium G2010 @ 2.80Ghz Dual Core, Ivy Bridge Gigabyte H61 Mobo 4GB of DDR3 RAM Intel HD Graphics. The PC is only 2 days old, and it runs Win2k like a charm.
