  1. using cpu-z:

the result i get is 0.960V for AMD Ahtlon 64 3500+ (Venice)

the specs in AMD.com says Voltage is around 1.35V/1.40V

    - it can't auto detect it properly?... is it because of the cool n quiet feaure?

    - is my board broken?

Im pretty sure CnQ is the culprit. If you have a BIOS option to disable/enable CnQ, try disabling it and see what sandra says then.

  2. I'm somewhat of a neat-freak so I wrote me a batch file to delete the junk from every temp and cache folder on the HD and I run my batch file from the startup folder so I get a free cleanup every time I reboot my PC.

Could you post the batch file? I looked on your site but none of the filenames I saw looked like they would be it.

  3. if i don't enebaled RAID, my pc keeps on rebooting after installation

Did you install the nforce4 winxp drivers after the installation? Could you be more specific about exactly when the crash occurs...does it always happen at the same time/place as before, or is it random?

I have played around with nlite a little, but the questions you are asking are over my head.

  4. 2) should i really need to do the F6 ? almost all of the guides i read in google says press F6 even if i'm not using Raid just installing on a single sata

That depends on the controller. Some do, some do not. If I know exactly which mass storage controller you are using, I might be able to tell you.

Edit: Just noticed you specified the motherboard. The Nvidia SATA controller does not require you to add a driver via F6 for non-RAID configurations like you are using.

Besides the memory. What else could i check that is causing me to install windows with so many things missing?

Is it possible you are using an Nlite'ed install disc?

  5. Thanks alot for the input, all. Actually, no matter what configuration I tried, Iwould always surpass my $$ limit on Newegg, so I went over to TigerDirect and found some good deals. I have the cart saved at school, I'll post it up here tomorrow and see what you all think. :D THANKS!

Tiger has some real cheap sh*t you should avoid. Not that they dont have anything good, but they have a disproportionately large amount of crap.

  6. I wanna find a way to use this staff in non mission critical (read only) part of the web application.Do u know any ?

It would be ideal for serving static web content to concurrent users (ie. the web content is stored on the IRAM itself). Pumping out a lot of small randomly accessed files is precisely where the IRAM would completely annihilate a traditional hard drive. I think Gigabyte are collectively a bunch of idiots for not just going to a SATA 2 interface though.

  7. I have a loose wire mesh filter and it really doesnt do much of anything as far as reducing dust buildup inside the case. I have worked with foam filters before, and they do actually stop some dust from getting in because they required cleaning every now and then.

I like your idea about the shop vac bag. It would be great if there were fan filters that stopped dust that effectively.

  8. Ive never tried it myself but the PXES thin client OS might be worth a look. The website says it will let you connect to a windows terminal server or citrix server, as well as others. Hardware requirements would be very minimal compared to running a full blown OS, and it would be a lot harder for the users to screw around with the client OS this way.

  9. AMD's power envelope for their current and planned future mobile CPUs isn't anywhere near what the CoreDuo can do now. If there's one thing that can be said for Intel it's that they definitely got their mobile CPUs right.

Huh? The 25 and 35 watt turion chips still fit the bill. The new turion x2 variants wont have increased power requirements either.

Even Transmeta couldn't compete and they were supposed to be the "next-best thing".

Actually in power requirements they were the lowest of all (~5 watts). The performance wasnt up to the competitions standards though. The thing that made the transmeta chips so cool is that they werent even x86 chips internally. They were 256bit VLIW and used "code morphing" to translate x86 instructions into its native language on the fly.

  10. 1) in the top right of the page when you access it there is a countdown to wait xx seconds

Didnt see that the first few times for some reason. Thanks!

One other question. Is it able to boot on alternate hardware, or does it just work on the computer that the disc is made from?

  11. If you look at the MS reference given, you'll see:

i - This switch tells Setup not to report the existence of a Plug and Play BIOS. It is useful on computers that have a Plug and Play BIOS that is not reported in the Machine.inf file

Yes, but what does that actually mean and what would the real world effect be of using it? Im just curious because I have been mistakingly using that switch for years because I thought it was something totally different.
