Yeah, this should really be changed in future versions... I searched this forum only to know for sure about this. Thanks for asking the question, enderandrew.

What does that mean? It adds the resources even though there were no resources to begin with? That's what I have a problem with. I've deleted half of the icons, bitmaps and dialogs in some files, because I don't use the features they belong to, so the files become smaller and load faster. XPizing would restore these icons and bitmaps, wouldn't it? Is there a way to change this behaviour?

Does XPize add resources where there are none? I mean, does it just update existing resources in the files? (I wouldn't want to bloat down the files that I've cleaned of unnecessary resources.)

I think the xFree cursors are great, been using them for years. Source: http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?show...=97548&hl=xfree Download: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/sherry.ponting/Files/xFree.rar

All protocols are dead, after cleaning up system32
Branstrom replied to Branstrom's topic in Windows XP
Hey guys, there was a simple solution... http://www.bold-fortune.com/forums/index.p...topic=629&st=20 Somehow I had disabled shdocvw.dll - which wasn't marked really well; it had an IE icon, and "C:\OS\system32\shdocvw.dll" didn't show until you opened the properties for that shell extension. As soon as I activated it everything worked again! -
I integrated it and would also like to have the bootscreen, if it could be supplied separately, just as a BMP, it would be really nice.

Nero Custom Applications Builder (NCAB)
Branstrom replied to vcBlackBox's topic in Application Installs
I've been messing around in system32 so the installer did not work for some reason. However, all I had to do was extract all files from the EXE with WinRAR. I noticed something when I had installed. There's still a shortcut in the start menu for that Special Offer thing. -
Not streaming Quicktime though. At least my system hangs like two seconds into the stream. And streaming Windows Media... I don't know if I've got it to stream anything correctly, come to think of it.

I just keep getting this error when starting the custom installer I've built: "7-Zip The system cannot find the file specified." -

Can I replace Nero Express with regular Nero for these? -

Huh? You don't think what? -

So do you know what might have caused my problem? -
I've been cleaning up system32, with the help of http://www.neowin.net/forum/lofiversion/in...hp/t316422.html - after I nLited my system. I have only removed stuff I know I don't use. Now I can't open links. Win+R and any link with a protocol, http://www.msfn.org for example, results in an error message: "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel." It's either some file I've removed, or a registry malconfiguration. I've reinstalled Firefox three times, to no avail. Do any of you know what files are responsible for identifying protocol links in Windows? I thought maybe url.dll and urlmon.dll had something to do with it, but I haven't deleted any of them. I have made a backup of everything I've removed, so it's easy to restore, but I've tried restoring the files I was suspicious about and it hasn't changed anything. All the links in programs other than the browser are still dead. Please, help!

I did that some time ago, and I can confirm it makes loading and even browsing in Firefox a bit faster. But it requires more CPU when starting up, I think. Maybe also when rendering web pages.

Right.

Does the updater ADD resources where there are none? I'm asking since I've deleted quite a lot of unneeded bitmaps from a couple of system files, and I don't want to do it all again... Of course I could make a backup of those files and then copy them back afterwards, but... Hmm. What files are updated from RC to Final?
-
Good. It doesn't need the backups to run the updater or anything, does it?
-
Me too. You people are crazy.

Are there any problems associated with installing XPize over a system which I've slipstreamed XPize 4 MCE RC onto with the help of nLite? I don't think there should be any problems, but what do I know...

MountPointManagerRemoteDatabase

Someone just HAS to find a fix for this ^_^ It is driving me insane. -
Yep, SP1 subtracted a second or two from the initital loading time, for one.

An Athlon XP 3200+ 512 MB DDR400 computer with a Raptor 74GB and 10Mbit ADSL+ spins that page up in 1.5-2 seconds using IE. I haven't tested Firefox yet as this is a temporary Windows setup. Will later.

What services have you removed? I think I remember one that controls just this.
