  1. @AnX

But I have to use QupZilla because the latest firefox turns all black when I start it up.

Have you disabled the "Use hardware acceleration when possible" options in the ADVANCED>GENERAL tab in Firefox?

I know that would work, but I need hardware acceleration whilst using Flash. This is a problem when using forceware drivers. I'm using Firefox 10, which works great with Adblock Plus, and will install Chrome soon.

OK. How can I disable Firefox's acceleration leaving other stuff running with it?

Uncheck the option "Use hardware acceleration when possible" in Firefox in the OPTIONS> ADVANCED>GENERAL tab.

I have an older version installed right now, but I think it is in the same spot in the the later versions.. tomas86 or anybody can confirm.

  2. @blackwingcat

I see that you have updated the blog.livedoor page for "JRE 6 update 41 for Windows 2000", but it gives an error "File not Found in List" and to Report the issue.

edit: the link now works... thanks

    Thanks again.

P.S. I also see from Feb 14 the information about "Adobe Flash Player 10.3.183.63", but on the blog.livedoor page the most recent version listed is "Adobe Flash 10.3.183.51 for Windows 2000/XP/2003 Feb.2013 "

  3. @OldSchool38...

Also since it's a good idea to use Java 6-will blackcat's 'Java 6 Update 38 Installer for Windows 2000' be compatible with your patches?

bwc has an updated 'Java 6 Update 39 Installer for Windows 2000' and those installers can be used on a standard win2k without any extended kernel installed (just in case you were wondering)

  4. Feb 01 2013 Java 6 Update 39 is released.

@bwc.. will there be an update available on the livedoor blog?

    thanks brother

Apparently the last patch for Java 6 will be released on 19th February, so I am presuming that there might be one more patch still to follow after update 39?

@conductor71.. That is good to know. I guess at some point soon I (and others) will be investigating to install Java 7 on win2k.

@blackwingcat.. Is there available a "W2K Java 7 installer" similar to the one you created for Java 6? or will Java 7 only be able to be installed when using an extended kernel?

    @bwc, tomasz

I have not researched yet the Java 7 requirements, but I am sure there are many around (like me) that do not really have the need for full blown extended kernel and who can get away with just using a few wrappers here or there.

anyway.. thanks for any info you can supply.

  5. @conductor71

was using the wrapper as well. it worked fine up to v11.2.202.235 for Firefox and v11.4.402.287 for IE. after that I had the same issues that you described.

blackwingcat has been releasing and updating a v10.3 installer for w2k. it seems that v10.3 has been continually updated by adobe.. it may be an option to investigate.

you can find bwc's installer page here: I made the latest Adobe Flash Player 10.3 installer [bM]

use google translate if necessary ;)

  6. I can confirm that the Jre6u37W2K.exe available on bwc's blog site installs Java 6 Update 37 fine on win2k system SP4... updating from his Jre6u35W2K.. which was originally installed with Java 6 Update 31 directly from oracle.

If I remember correctly the original u35 update had to be run twice to work. I am not sure if that was because I had browser windows open or did not install it after a fresh reboot.

  7. I think This installer doesn't requires uxtheme.dll(and not used KDW)

if you use native windows 2000, you must install from swflash.inf.

If you use native windows 2000, don't copy uxthem.dll to system32, bacause ulrmon.dll works windows xp mode and many error will occur under the existing uxtheme.

How about have you seen the uxtheme error dialog?

have not tried that yet... should it be installed through KDW?

I choose uxtheme.dll in KDW and then what is the next choice? use "start setup"? or "dynamic install"?

ok, i tried to just copy uxtheme.dll from KDW/bin into %systemroot%\system32\uxtheme.dll and it does let the control panel load, but it only shows the first tab of "Camera and Mic" the two other tabs: "Playback" and "Advanced" are blank, and "Playback" disappears when I click on it... maybe need to reboot? will give that a try later on.

BTW I do not yet have any of your kernal updates installed.

Thanks for the reply. Once I reboot that machine I will post back, but I am not sure that is the issue. Let me know if you know.

yes, i did have an error of uxtheme.dll not found when trying to open the flash control panel, but flash will install correctly with using KDW and kernal32.dll

if you use native windows 2000, you must install from swflash.inf.

i think i remember reading something about that on your blog. i will have to go back into your blog and look for those instructions. if you get a chance (and remember where it is) maybe you can post a link to the instructions or jot down a quick explanation.

    Thanks again bro.

PS. I should have mentioned that I am using kernal32 from KDW to install the most recent version of adobe flash v11.4.402.287, not the 10.3 version that you made the installer. I guess I should ask if there is any difference in installing the 11.4 versions instead of the 10.3 version... should i be using the 10.3 version with the installer from your site? does anyone know if there is much of a difference (in features or security?)

  8. have not tried that yet... should it be installed through KDW?

I choose uxtheme.dll in KDW and then what is the next choice? use "start setup"? or "dynamic install"?

  9. @blackwingcat..

i am looking at your blog.. http://blog.livedoor.jp/blackwingcat/archives/1557059.html and trying to figure out the process to get the Flash Control Panel accessible in win2k.

the translation is a little difficult to understand. i have flash already installed, using kernal32 KDW to be able to get the installer to run, but was wondering about the final steps to have access to the control panel. It gives the UxTheme.dll error.

If you get a chance maybe you can explain.

    Thanks bro.

  10. @tomasz86..

Will you will post here when the next version of UURollup (ENU) is released (that uses BlackWingCat's kernel)? I think that will be the breakpoint to take the plunge and install Update Rollup2 + UURollup (ENU). is there any issue in installing those two now and then wanting to use the next updated UURollup (ENU) when you release it? i.e. needing to or the ability to uninstall the current version of UURollup (ENU) in order to use a release with BlackWingCat's kernel (assuming it is in the next version as you suggest). or will the updated version conceivably replace the necessary files such that BWC's kernal is used? Does this make sense?

Thanks again for your work on the SP5.2
