    I registered for the sole purpose of replying to this thread. Gradius, thank you. I've got my drive working again. Only thing I had to change was instead of connecting the RX > TX and TX > RX, was connect RX > RX and TX > TX. A bit counter-intuitive. Much appreciated to everyone who has contributed... really gave me a lift, thanks.
