  1. It should be a capital S as explained here: http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/applications/nsis.htm
  2. No, Windows will still allow anything to run when a shutdown is executed, for a time span of 300 seconds.
  3. .NET doesn't like being installed from the CDROM the .msi way. Doing this will fix it: http://greenmachine.msfnhosting.com/IEXPRESS/iexpress.htm
  4. Is it mlin's Startup Control Panel? This only installs one file, so all you need to do is take out startup.cpl from the System32 folder and put this in \$OEM$\$$\System32\

    Disk Read Error

    Burn using "Disc-at-once" also
  6. You're using odd quotations in UnattendSwitch=“Yes“, use " instead.
  7. I downloaded it, extracted and ran setup.exe -R, it creates a setup.iss in C:\Windows without any problems. 8. You could make a shortcut creator utility? (useful for people who put applications in $Progs and need their shortcuts in $Docs)
  9. DVD Decrypter. And if its too large to fit on a 4.7gb disc, you can then use DVD Shrink to cut out unneeded extras, and/or compress the media slightly.
  10. Yep, it should work fine in svcpack.inf (directx 9.0b did, so 9.0c should!)
  11. shaokahn, you need to extract it and use the /silent switch on setup.exe. I don't believe /noreboot is a valid switch, not that I've seen it anywhere.
  12. enuffsaid and SiMoNsAyS, grow up or stay out of this thread
  13. Get a good PSU though, among the best are Antec, Enermax and Tagan
  14. Oh i see. I thought qchain didn't do anything for the type 2 hotfixes because several people who said they had problems getting the IE/OE Cumulative update to install was because they had older versions being installed as well.
  15. Yep, look for a mobo with an Intel chipset, I'm very happy with my Abit IC7-G (875) and IS7-E2 (865)
  16. qchain is most likely not needed any more. You will still have to be careful with type 2 hotfixes as they don't use update.exe and qchain.exe cannot help in this case. (i.e. 2 IE cumulative updates being installed causing problems)
  17. You should look each one up at the MS Knowledge Base site http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=xxxxxx 828750 is one I recognise as being a previous cumulative IE update
  18. You should make sure you don't have any previous IE Cumulative updates in your hotfixes folders as they will clash with the latest and put old file versions on.
  19. That's right, but there's a crude workaround involving XCOPY in cmdlines.txt to copy them over instead, plus OemPnpDriversPath is defunct too.
  20. Removing OemPreinstall=yes will allow F6 to work again iirc
  21. Found a bug, was curious what it would do with makecab unchecked, this happens with any file: See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box. ************** Exception Text ************** System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The system cannot find the file specified at System.Diagnostics.Process.StartWithShellExecuteEx(ProcessStartInfo startInfo) at System.Diagnostics.Process.Start() at CBin.formMain.OpenFiles(Array a) ************** Loaded Assemblies ************** mscorlib Assembly Version: 1.0.5000.0 Win32 Version: 1.1.4322.573 CodeBase: file:///c:/windows/microsoft.net/framework/v1.1.4322/mscorlib.dll ---------------------------------------- CBin Assembly Version: 1.1.4235.0 Win32 Version: 1.1.4235.0 CodeBase: file:///C:/Program%20Files/jcarle.com/Compression%20Bin/CBin.exe ---------------------------------------- System.Windows.Forms Assembly Version: 1.0.5000.0 Win32 Version: 1.1.4322.573 CodeBase: file:///c:/windows/assembly/gac/system.windows.forms/1.0.5000.0__b77a5c561934e089/system.windows.forms.dll ---------------------------------------- System Assembly Version: 1.0.5000.0 Win32 Version: 1.1.4322.573 CodeBase: file:///c:/windows/assembly/gac/system/1.0.5000.0__b77a5c561934e089/system.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Drawing Assembly Version: 1.0.5000.0 Win32 Version: 1.1.4322.573 CodeBase: file:///c:/windows/assembly/gac/system.drawing/1.0.5000.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a/system.drawing.dll ---------------------------------------- ************** JIT Debugging ************** To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this application or machine (machine.config) must have the jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section. 22. Its setup.exe /help actually
