  1. [...]edit: iirc, i didnt have to enter a key when i reinstalled

That is the problem. When you do a clean install, you MUST put in a key that matches the Vista version you want to install. Good luck!

i dont recall that but how come it would just start telling me that my license is about to expire now

its been quite a while since i got this computer

  2. i keep getting a tool tip pop up

apparently my vista license will expire in 6 days and its telling me i have to backup all my data and install another copy of vista

why is this? i bought this dell inspiron 1520 around the end of august

if i go to control panel -> system, it says my vista is activated and everything so i dunno what to do

when i first got this laptop, i did a clean install following one of the guides on the notebookreview forums, could that be the issue?

    this one: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=157838

  3. ok so every night after about 1:27 my internet cuts off, but not completely

things that still work are things like steam, trillian(if i was previously already connected), ventrillo(if i was already connected), etc

things that dont work is mostly everything else such as browsing and bittorrent

i have no idea what's going on

    thanks for any help

  4. woo been a while since i've been here

well christmas time is coming up and this is an oppurtunity for me to upgrade my computer

im planning on getting new processor, motherboard, ram, and possibly video card

as for the components....that's what i need help with

i've read alot on opterons and how you can OC them up to FX speeds so i'm planning on opteron cpu

    but 146 or 148 (or 144?)

so i need suggestions on the opteron delima, good OC ram (1 gig), good heatsink/fan for OC

also, i've rear reports of DFI mobos being picky about certain components such as ram so i need to take that into consideration

also, i don't want to spend too much on the memory (<100ish) and heatsink/fan (<50ish)

    currently:

    motherboard: DFI lanparty ultra-D

    CPU: opteron 148 venus

    memory: ???

    heatsink/fan: ???

    thank you

  5. i found a temporary solution

i disabled my dvd rom drive

ive never had any problems with it before

kind of weird seeing as how i havent updated the drivers for it or anything

so how can i get my dvd rom back without the long boot times

  6. well i reinstalled windows like 2 months ago and it was all going fine but now im getting reallly long bootup times

its just the part where you get the boot up screen with the bar going across the botton

it used to pass by like 15 times but now i find it passing 50+ times!

    its driving me crazy

i tried reinstalling drivers and such, i ran bootvis and got rid of one of the things that was causing it but i cant seem to get wid of the other

it is like a "redbook" driver or something

    thanks for any help
