  1. Smart shows all OK. I ran speedfan extended tests, all shows ok. See screenshot attachment SMART data G62.zip
  2. S.M.A.R.T looks OK, I know this does not always warn of impending disaster.
  3. Its a notebook, it only has one cable, thanks for the advice, I will check it, if it keeps up I will replace it.
  4. I recently got a F4 bsod, checked event viewer and several evid 9 for iastor was present just before bsod, "The device, \Device\Ide\iaStor0, did not respond within the timeout period." The implicated file for the F4 bsod was ntoskrnl.exe ntoskrnl.exe+4075e2 fffff800`02e4d000 fffff800`03436000 0x005e9000 0x4e02aaa3 Is iastor related to my bsod? and why so may evid 9's for iastor? . I have the latest Intel chipset and storage manager drivers installed, downloaded from Intel. iastor.sys version 10.6.0.1002 is showing in Device manager Notebook Computer Windows 7 64bit Intel HM55 Southbridge. chkdsk is clean and system is defragged. System fully patched. No detectable malware using scanners or boot discs.
  5. A follow up to my issue: I think it was being caused by Flash, I was using a version of chrome browser called iron browser, I installed flash block and the interrupt storm has not happened in weeks now. I since have started using Google's version of chrome browser because the developers of Iron browser cannot keep up with vulnerabilities being patched. I can mark my issue solved for now, crossing fingers. Thanks for all your help. .
  6. The time usbport.sys is part of the chipset driver, at least on Intel chipset boards. Sometimes a bios update can resolve USB issues, and others as well. W7 irq discussion here, W7 is pretty good about flagging irq conflicts, they will show up in System Information. All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information>Hardware Resources. http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7performance/thread/960a0b45-475c-44cd-b5ef-056ff6503e85 Looks like in W7, the only way to change an IRQ in device manager is if there is a conflict, otherwise the change button is greyed out. There probably is a registry hack, but would be risky to do so. http://helpdeskgeek.com/windows-vista-tips/manage-irq-settings-windows-vista-7/ more on irqs http://www.gearslutz.com/board/music-computers/440166-windows-7-irqs.html . .
  7. Asus does not offer W7 32 or 64bit chipset drivers for that motherboard, they do offer them for Vista 64bit, and should work for W7, but they are dated 03/07/2008, they might work better than the default drivers W7 installed. Choose Vista 64bit as the OS selection to download the chipset drivers. http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?modelname=M2N-VM%20DVI&SLanguage=en-us If found this on the Nvidia site, not sure it is the chipset driver though. http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_vista64_15.23.html .
  8. 82945G Graphics Realtek RTL8168C Gigabit ethernet adapter ALC888 sound chip I have tried newer drivers, but it seems to make the problem worse or no better, right now it may not do it for weeks, then when it does act up it seems like it does it for several days, rebooting several times today, then its back to normal. I have tried to notice if I am doing anything different on those istorm days, but cannot correlate anything, I don't do much but surf and email, analyze a few minidumps occasionally. I shut down the PC every night. Here are the full hardware specs http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=prodtmpspec&maincat_no=134&cat2_no=&cat3_no=&prod_no=1674 All I can do I guess is try the latest drivers again, maybe there are newer versions. I am beginning to think it is a Windows 7 bug running on this particular hardware, just won't play nice together. Thanks for looking. .
  9. Can anyone help me cypher my interrupt storm analysis? Windows 7 Pro. They look like Windows system drivers causing it, what should I do? TIA
