  1. I sure hope this is the right place for this post, if not, Sorry, do with it as you wish. I'm running unattended SP2 right now, and have been since September, without problem 1. I'm very happy with the outcome, thanks to all the guides, tips and threads here. However, I would now like to dual boot with 98SE, but I don't want to dump xp, load 98, then re-install XP and lose all my mail and passwords, etc. Is there anyway around this? I just need 98 for some dos apps. Or is there something else I can use?
  2. Thanks Guys! As far as the MP9 and DX 9 are concerned, I didn't realize that, and thats the same start cmd I used for the SP1 unattend I did a few months back before SP2 final. Didn't even notice the switch though,
  3. Besides some things being backwards, such as encrypted password: No Above Admin password, and a few other thing that look out of place. I don't know. Maybe you should download and use the SP2 deployment tools, and use the wizard instead.
  4. It tells me the swiches are wrong. Someone take a look. CLS @echo off TITLE Windows XP SP2 - Semi Unattended Installation ECHO. 5. The other day, I tried to download the riva tuner from guru of 3d. What happened next was unreal, it kicked my cpu usage up to 100%, and thats without opening the file. The only way to stop it was to reset, task manager even hung. Then I noticed my broadband connection was slower than dialup, I called my ISP, and he claimed that I was recieving too many packets, even though I was offlline at the time. I unplugged my router. to reset it and everything was fine. Just for testing purposes, I tried another download from Guru of 3d again, same thing! They have something going on that floods packets. I don't want to try to contact them out of fear of burning my modem up.
  6. Yeah it can be done on that system, my brother loaded it on his pentium 133 with 32mb 72 pin ram. I would definetly suggest looking for another used system. I don't know about where you live, But here schools are always giving away outdated systems. The last one I got was a Iwill server board with a 550 P3 and 2 50 pin scsi drives, and its working fine as a file server.
  7. Thank You very much! I could not find that answer in the unattend guides.
  8. Maybe this is a silly question, but I'm working on a another unattend dvd for one of my other computers. Does SP1 have to be slipstreamed in before SP2, or can I skip SP1? Its an early non SP pro.
  9. Installed it on all three of mine, and 14 at work. The work computers are working better than average. I had firewall problems on my home systems trying to network with mshome. But a few registry tweaks, and thier playing nice now.
  10. Your having the same exact problem I had yesterday, Make sure your saving that as winnt.sif and not winnt.sif.txt. Go to tools-folder options, Veiw, and make sure the boxes for: Hide Extensions for known file types, And Hide protected operating systemfiles are not checked. Then save your winnt.sif as all files, not txt. jrzycrim pointed this out to me, hover your mouse pointer over your winnt.sif file, If it is showing winnt.sif.txt, theres your prob Also, do yourself a favor and download MS Virtual Machine from MS downloads. It will save you tons of coasters when tweaking, And download the image maker too from MSFN.org, and get the unattended pdf if you don't have it already
  11. Dang, Do I feel stupid right now! I forgot to uncheck the box in folder options to show all known file and extension types. I Owe you a case of your favorite beverage. (As long as it's domestic beer, soda, or cheap wine) THANKS!!!!
  12. Yes, I do have winnt.sif in I386, And I have read the article very carefully. Thats what I keep thinking, that I must be missing something, and probably something small. I have been successful in adding the user accounts and install packages, so obviously its reading parts of winnt.sif because it does go to the$OEM$ folder. But it refuses to start unattended, and does not skip eula or anything else. here is a basic copy of my winnt.sif: ;SetupMgrTag [Data] AutoPartition=1 MsDosInitiated="0" UnattendedInstall="Yes" [unattended] UnattendMode=FullUnattended OemSkipEula=Yes OemPreinstall=No TargetPath=\WINDOWS [GuiUnattended] AdminPassword="123" EncryptedAdminPassword=NO OEMSkipRegional=1 TimeZone=35 OemSkipWelcome=1 [userData] ProductKey=****-****-****-*****-***** FullName="joe" OrgName="Joes mule farm" ComputerName=nforce [TapiLocation] CountryCode=1 Dialing=Tone AreaCode=555 [identification] JoinWorkgroup=MSHOME [Networking] InstallDefaultComponents=Yes I have tried this from a floppy using my OEM disc, It does start the floppy drive when starting windows after copying files. then goes right back to guiattended. Is there something In my I386 folder thats bypassing this? Or is this because both my discs are OEM's? One more thing: Am I supposed to add the Unattend.bat file? This will be for clean install. The article at OC.com says to add. The Book and MSFN.org doesn't Also, I have my XPCD folder on my slave drive (NTFS format) But I have deploy folders on both C: and F: (E: is my Ghost partition) And I have tried this both on a small hardrive, and now on Virtual Machine using a image off the root of C:
  13. Hi New here but need help desperately. I cannot get either of my copies of XPpro to work unattended. Whether I'm trying to boot using the floppy with the file or using it on the image. It simply will not work. I've edited and re-edited andhave 6 days of my spare time into this, and I keep hitting a wall. I've read every thing from here, OC.com, XP inside out, and several other articles, and keep coming up blank. I've tried it with Unattend.bat, unattend.txt Am I not usng the right encoding when saving it, or do I have xpprosp1 and xppro that will not except it?
