[WD - PCB replacement + pictures]

Hi All,

I have this hard drive

On the green PCB two of the chips are brunt (which easily can be seen as burnt).

I want to buy from ebay one of those of hard drives in order to replace the pcb.

What is the correct one?

[Need help with 232 connector (for 7200.11 hard drives)]

Hi Peter,

Thank you very much for your great help!

I did the actions as you guied, but nothing happend.

I connect all the wires (Which I hope that I did it right: The black wire is GND, the red is TX and the white is DX), and connect it to the terminal, but I don't see any respond (I connected sata power to the hard drive).

Nothing happend when I hit the sequence Ctrl + Z (Somthing like F3 T> should appear after that but it didn't).

I switch the wires for case that I plug it wrong but still nothing.

I can't think about what I do wrong.

Is the connector doesn't do its purpose?

What can I do?

[Old maxtor hd (40 GB) shows as- capacity 0]

Hi all,

I have old hard drive (see the pictures)

Which suddenly recognize as 0 capacity.

I can see the name of the hard drive in the bios but all the data which shown is 0.

What can I do to fix that (besides to go to a DR proffesional)?

Is a pcb replacemant will fix that?

Any suggestions?

I plug 2 of the 3 wires that I have (whit- don't know what it is, Black - RX, Red- TX. Am I right?)

but the terminal does not respond.

When I hit Ctrl + z does not appear on the scren the letters: "F3 T>m". is this the right sequence?

It looks like nothing happen at all.

What should I do?

what is the datesheet? and what is lc?

By the way, Ctrl + Z does not give me F3 T> in the terminal.

What do I do wrong? or when I will connect the adapter as it should be, the terminal will also work as it should be too?

as you can see the mini usb port is onboard the pcb.

Thanks for the response.

I've tried to do that but the comptuer does not find any suitable driver for this.

I tried to install some diffrent drivers from that list but nothing cause to my hard drive to get back to life.

Any suggestions?

I have 2.5 external hdd which suddenly required a driver which I don't have.

The device manager show a yellow question mark "USB Device".

I don't have an access to my data.

I've already tried to plug it in few other computers and of all them show the same symptom.

I took out the hard drive from it enclosure but the pcb does not have an IDE or sata connection.

The only connection that I can see is the mini usb port which is built on the pcb.

I've tried diffrent mini usb cables and it gives the same symptom for all the them.

Any suggestions?

How can I fix that?

Is there any driver which can solve the problem?
