The Solution for Seagate 7200.11 HDDs

Hello there I have an R232 to TTL converter that I have confirmed working with Echo back. When I go to hook it up to my 1tb Seagate 7200.11 ST31000340AS SD15 hard drive and follow the instructions as posted, I receive nothing when I press CTRL+z in the beginning. I have reversed the RX TX wires and still no luck on communicating with the hard drive. Any ideas on what might be wrong? Cheers
