I come to a resolution last evening. The WD enclousure controller has an onboard serial flash chip where in my case was disabled. With the disabled flash chip in behaves like a regular USB-SATA bridge and the WD Formatter simply can't see it as WD My Book.I need to get a spare controller, solder out the flash chip and see let's see how is the whole stuff encoded.Another option would be to get the controller from the new 14TB My Book, but that's a bit unlikely, since it exists on the market for a short time.

Such a huge drive (14 TB) is very likely 4kN, it should be possible to partition and format it "normally", without needing the WD tool.
You can, but I need to switch it into to the "XP Compatible" mode which that WD Formatter does.

I have run into a similar issue when I tried an HGST enterprise drive in an easystore enclosure that I know worked for easystore drives. I think the root cause of the issue is that generally sata drives cannot change their sector size from 512e to 4kn (unlike sas which can), and the easystore, et al externals must have drives that have this capability enabled.
If you want to try manually, you can boot up a live cd of parted magic and there are linux commands to change the sector size (don't know them off the top of my head, just saw them on the servethehome forum).
As I recall from the early days when I was investigating this, the sectors are actually 4K, but emulated into 512 and it looks like that some part of the role is playing the WD controller from the enclousure, because of you remove the drive from it and connect it to a regular SATA controller, you can only see a raw data.

During the time I got just got anempty WD My Book enclousure including the controller.Today I got a 14TB WD Red Pro hoping that I easily upgrade, because my existing 6TB and 4TB My Books are getting full, but the WD Quick Formatter can't see the drive.WD probably locked to use the WD Formatter only to their external drives series, not sure.Seems that I have to return the 14TB WD Red Pro and get the usual 14TB WD My Book If there would be a way to do it manually like the WD Formatter does...

Hello,
Im currenly running ASPI 4.60 in my Win95OSR2, but I was wondering, if there's a way to get the last ASPI 471a2 to work on Win95OSR2.
According to Adaptec, they recommend not to use this version on Win95, does anyone elaborate, what was the reason?
The only change in 4.71.2 from earlier versions is that it enables tagged queuing for read/write commands.0 -

Facebook now defaults to Flash if it detects that you're using Windows XP.
If you want to use HTML5 you will need to change the browser user agent string for Facebook.com.
An add-on like "Custom UserAgent String" will do that for you.
I use that and set the string to "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:57.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/57.0".
You can of course change the string for all web sites, which I did for quite a while, but I subsequently found that there was a site (britishairways.com) which wouldn't let me log in with that string set, so beware problems like that.
HTH.Thanks for the tip, it worked ! :)

Hi All,
I have some issues forcing the FF ESR 52.9.0 to play videos in HTML when played in Facebook, although I have HTML5 fully working ,which I have done some time according the the tutorial released here,so example Youtube is playing in HTML5 fine.
The reason, why I what to switch to HTML5 is, that in my case Facebook videos are played through Flash and in certain videos the sound doesn play at all and I don't know the reason why.Sometimes switching the video to HD solves this problem, but in most cases it does not.I tried several FF addons to block Flash content and force HTML5, but for FB seems it doesn't make any effect at all.
Does anyone have such experience please?

Looks good. In the text box add:
IsDebuggerPresent=GetCurrentProcess
and click the [ Patch ] button.
Can you tell me more about where you got the "updated" version of Shell32? Someone used a tool on it that updated the TimeDateStamp to 2017 Jan 17 15:08:39. I would still like to find out what tool that was and test it.
It was just this: SH95UPD v0.0.8 beta

What tool did you use on 17th of Jan?
It was not a tool, just a updated version of SHELL32,that I installed.I downgraded today and here is the result from the log.Looks better, however physically no patching was made on the file.

A 64 bit OS doesn't use any 32 bit driver, just delete the file (it was probably just copied there and nothing more).
Not copied.Seems it was registered, because I can see an attempt of a service startup under the system events which will fail (because it's a 32bit driver)

Hi All,
some time a go I have been using a USB flash disk repair tool from Innostor which installs a MP Filter driver (ISMPUSBFilter.sys).After removing the software the driver remains in the system. On my Win XP x32 I was able to uninstall it via the cmd "RUNDLL32.EXE SETUPAPI.DLL,InstallHinfSection DefaultUninstall 132 c:\infname.inf".However on my Win7 x64 system, the driver is located in the SysWOW64\drivers directory. The cmd doesn't work here and I cannot even find the driver under the device manager ,hidden/nonPnP drivers .
Any idea please, how to get rid of it on my Win7 x64 system?
Thanks

@Comos: Your ImportPatcher log file indicates you didn't click the [ Patch ] button after supplying a replacement string for IsDebuggerPresent. I do see the garbage strings further down in the log. IP seems to be having trouble reading Shell32.dll's import table. I'm looking into it. Thanks for the report!
Edit:
Importing from SHELL32.dll
TimeDateStamp: 2017 Jan 17 15:08:39
It looks like the modded version of Shell32.dll you ran through ImportPatcher is not completely valid. Please try again with the original file to see if the problem is with ImportPatcher, PE Tools, or another tool that hacked the file back on January 17. Thanks.
Okay. The Shell32 that Im using was a updated one, that somebody did here some year ago.I just found a last version, that I ran on 17th of Jan.I'll downgrade and let you know.

I have been also trying crystal and I think it would be a same patch like on Atto.Altough the sources are available, maybe someone can rebuild it? Same case for CrystalCPUID.Im able to run it, but it reports Sysinfo.dll not found, dunno why, when the dll is in the same dir.

Hrm... maybe ImportPatcher?
That looks promising, however Im not able to patch it on my host system. When I patched it, the IsDebuggerPresent is still there. Then I made a log for a check and it seems there's a problem with checking the USE32.DLL?
Don't know, if the patcher has a problem with my CZ version, or an issue with my USER32.DLL.Check the log, what's your opinion on that.

If I remember correctly I believe that particular call can sometimes just be patched to something else that is the same length and is present under 95.
Somewhere there was a discussion of it but it's slipped my memory.
"GetCurrentProcess" is the suggested replacement function.
Here are the relevant links:
This could make more software Win95 compatible.

Another solutionThanks for the tip. I managed with PE Tools to replace the call, so it runs now on my Win95OSR.However it would be better to edit the whole import table and remove that call completely. Is there a way how to proceed with this?

Hi all,
I have been facing for some time, that I missed some icons in my systray, so first I tried to clear the systray icon cache with known methods, however the result was random, that I still miss some icons after bootup. This brough me to an conclusion, that the ESET service might cause this behaviour. But then is a question, how can I postpone the start of the ESET service before the explorer.exe is ready to receive the notifications from that service? (probably start at the end of the list, when everything is loaded)
Thanks

Hi all,
does anyone have a ATTO disk bench version, that runs under Win95? I have managed to get a version 2.41, which runs on my 98SE, but due to the Is_Debugger_Present call Im not able to run in on my OSR2.
Thanks in advance !

Uhm... This is so weird...
C++ installed, .NET installed, check disk that didn't report any errors as well as sfc/scannow...
That's weird, really. I mean, if it works on our machines, then it's a system-related issue, but everything seems fine on your system... Besides, I have a localised version of XP and Java installed fine anyway, so it's not even that. I could edit the application's manifest, but I'm not actually sure whether it's the right thing to do. Maybe is something in the registry. I mean, maybe there's an entry created by a former version that hasn't been deleted when you tried to uninstall and install everything again and that is now in conflict with the installation, or maybe it's a previous installation which failed but still created some entries... Try to look for Java entries in the registry (use the search function) and see if there's something about the latest installation (I mean the version that fails to install). If you actually find something, write it down here in the forum and we'll tell you whether is safe to delete it/modify it or not.
I already tried to remove all the crap from the registry with JavaRa.I checked the registy, but seems nothing suspicious apart, that there are keys from the last working version 1.8.0u51.Path to this version I have still in the enviroment variables. However I still find some keys, that I expect that should be removed.I have made an export with Nirsoft's regscanner, that you can take a look.

Uhm... Which is very weird.
According to your logs, everything starts with a call to the function GetProcAddress which fails to load SetProcessDPIAware in user32. In other words, Java checks your system before initialising the GUI and fails before actually being able to launch it. Since it's not necessary, you could try to edit the application's manifest to set DpiAware to false, but:
1) I'm not sure whether it would actually make it run or it would end up with another error (probably the latter).
2) This is not the right approach since it's a system-related issue; 100%.
I'm not even actually sure about the requirements of Java, but I have .NET (1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0) and C++ (2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015) installed; do you have them installed too?
C++ what I have installed is: 2005 ATL Update kb973923 v8.0.50727.4053, 2005 redist, 2008 v9.0.30411, v9.0.30729, v9.0.30729.4148, v9.0.30729.6161, 2010 v10.0.30319, 2013 v12.0.30501.0, 2015 Redist v14.0.23026.0.

I played with the Paragon GPT loader when I run into this issue on XP, that's already 8 years ago.The Paragon driver actualy works only on internal SATA controller where the > 2TB drive is connected, not over USB.Maybe I could find a discussion with the Paragon support somewhere in my email history.
