  1. My2GirlsDad, clarckg888, what I did: I built passive merged installer with 1.1 SP1, 2.0 SP2, 3.0 SP2, 3.5 SP1, with regular hotfixes and langpacks and not removing any subcomponent; I used HFSLIP 1.7.10 beta D over a vanilla XP SP3 applying the former installer in the HFSVCPACK folder, the process worked well except a couple of file not found messages not stopping the process and not while applying custom .NET installer, that I suppose has to do with some kind of error with HFSLIP beta itself. Nothing more. I went through the install process on a Virtual PC 2007 and ALL frameworks and langpacks installed correctly (HFSLIP Total Slipstream entry in Add/Remove Programs). Then I run windows update and no KB974417 nor any .NET hotfix were listed.

    Strel,

    I am totally confused now. I did the same thing you did... XP Home SP2 in source, SP3 hotfix in HF, and installer in HFSVCPACK, nothing else, using 1.7.10 beta D. I went through the install process on a Virtual PC 2007 as you did. Still only 1.1 SP1 is installed but not 2.0 SP2 or 3.0 SP2 or 3.5 SP1. What am I doing wrong?

    Please check my entries and help me figure this out.

    Thank you.

  2. Just created my Win2k HFSLIP CD with:

    UPHClean-Setup.msi in HFGUIRUNONCE

    2kDNF11SP120SP2.exe in HFSVCPACK

    Windows2000-KB958470-x86-ENU.EXE in HFSVCPACK_SW1

    Silverlight3.exe in HFSVCPACK_SW2

    All went well except MU wanted Windows2000-KB973904-x86-ENU.EXE even though I put it in HF.

    It appears that mswrd6.wpc, mswrd8.wpc, write.wpc are not updated in Program Files/Windows NT/Accessories. Is this a bug or is this suppose to go in a different folder?

  3. I am still having a problem using Silent .NET Maker synthesized with my XP HFSLIPcd.

    When I put XPDNF11SP120SP230SP235SP1.exe in SVCPACK folder, only Net 1.1 SP1 is installed. Upon further review actually Net 2.0 SP2 fails and that causes 3.0 SP2 along with 3.5 SP1 to fail. Why does 2.0SP2 fail?

    When I put XPDNF11SP120SP230SP235SP1.exe in HFGUIRUNONCE folder, all NET frameworks are installed completely with no problems.

    My question is what is happening in HFGUIRUNONCE that is not happening in SVCPACK? What is the difference?

    Anybody have any ideas on this.

    Just wondering.

    M2GD

    P.S.: My 2k HFSLIPcd works great when using SVCPACK folder.

  4. Hi strel,

    I found the problem and the solution for the installers not recognizing the W2K OS (and probably XP too!) when run from a HFSLIPped CD. The :INSTBASE section of the _SNMsynth.cmd contains 2 times the word REGEDIT. Change both instances to "%%SYSTEMROOT%%\REGEDIT.EXE" (including the double-quotes!). After that everything works just fine. Both MBSA v2.1 and .NET Setup Verifier Tool give a clean bill of health.

    Strel, can you add this to the next official release of _SNMsynth.cmd ?

    Thx.

    Just tried your "fix" Bugs and it worked like a charm in Win2k. Both Nets installed and Verified. Thank you for finding this "bug".

    Still having a problem with XP with HFSLIPped CD as only Net 1.1 is installing and verifying. No 2.0, 3.0, or 3.5. This is puzzling. Using all defaults in _SNMsynth.ini except last section which is below:

    TARGETOS=XP

    T13ADDONS=

    ROEADDONS=

    ALSOINSTALLERS=

    MERGEFXS=YES

    SILENT=YES

    COMPRATIO=

    It was working with the previous version. Am I missing something, peoples?

  5. Strel,

    As with Tomalak, this is new for me also as it did work before.

    I"m not modifying anything. I take the EXE from your script and put it in HFSVCPACK. I do not change anything.

    Here's the only change I make and it's in the ini file of your script.

    TARGETOS=XP

    T13ADDONS=

    ROEADDONS=

    ALSOINSTALLERS=

    MERGEFXS=YES

    SILENT=YES

    COMPRATIO=

    Will try your HFAAO suggestion and report back.

    Thanks

  6. I'm having a problem installing Silent .NET Maker synthesized for Win2k and WinXP using HFSLIP. I've put the EXE file in the HFSVCPACK folder in both instances.

    For Win2k, neither version is installed. Should the EXE be put in HFGUIRUNONCE or am I doing something else wrong?

    For WinXP, only Net v1.1SP1 is installed, not the others. Should the EXE be put in HFGUIRUNONCE here also.

    I am little bit confused now so I need some guidance.

    Thank you.

  7. M2 - can you do me a favor? Can you see what file versions of wmvcore.dll you have on your system? Also, can you post your KB952069.log file too? Thanks!

    I have two different wmvcore.dll:

    in system32 v9.0.0.3362

    in system32/dllcache v9.0.0.3268

    Here is my 952069 log.

    Thanks for trying to figure this out.

  8. m2gd - i see that you put the 958470 in sw1. Can I ask you if you are slipstreaming wmp9? Or just the codecs?

    I'm slipstreaming wmp9.

    ... just wondering, would the trick by M2GD (as posted above) for his 2k work with xp? ...

    Kiki- "My fix", it's not my fix as I found it on another post, does work with XP.

  9. It depends on what WMP version you're slipstreaming and what winnt.sif switch you have. It seems to make a difference. Are you saying that if 952069 is in HF that it does not slipstream properly? What version of WMP are you using?

    I'm using WMP 9. I'm not sure what a"winnt.sif switch" is? It my case the 952069 did not work in HF.

    Also, according to my findings, 937894 was replaced by 951071 which was further replaced by 971032. All the KB articles say that anyway. Is this a msft error?

    It could be an error as Windows Updates said it was needed. Go Figure.

  10. Hello All,

    Just finished my testing of v1.7.9 with Windows 2000 and it worked fantastic!

    The only modifications I had to make were:

    Put DNF1120 from Silent .NET Maker synthesized in HFSVCPACK folder.

    Put "Windows2000-WindowsMedia-KB952069-x86-ENU.exe" and "Windows2000-KB958470-x86-ENU.EXE" in HFSVCPACK_SW1 folder changing the filenames to KB952069 and KB958470 respectively.

    Put "Silverlight3" in HFSVCPACK_SW2 folder changing the filename to SL3 and changing switch to \q for silent install.

    With those changes in place everything ran smooth.... no copy errors ....no updates missing .... heck, no errors at all.

    Great job tommyp. Thanks to everyone who posted helps to get me through.

    Now it on to testing XP. Report back when I'm finished.

  11. Tommyp.

    Great job on your list for Win2000.

    1. I believe your link for "WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe" is wrong as it points to v7.2.6001.788. You can find v7.4.7600.226 here. I was prompted to "Update Windows" on my first visit to Microsoft Updates.

    2. You have "Windows2000-KB937894-x86-ENU.EXE" in the deleted section but it shows as needed in Microsoft Updates.

    3. You have "Windows2000-WindowsMedia-KB952069-x86-ENU.exe" in /HF but shouldn't it be put in HFSVCPACK_SW1.

    4. You have "Windows2000-KB958470-x86-ENU.EXE" in /HF but shouldn't it be put in HFSVCPACK_SW1. I know you say not to use it but Microsoft Updates says it's needed.

    Just my two cents for what it's worth. Thanks for all your hard work. It is appreciated.

  12. Strel,

    Love this program.

    For XP everything worked great with no problems.

    For 2k, even though it says it will not process 3.0 SP2 and 3.5 SP1 it still tries to, and has problems. If I change the _SNMsynth.ini to not process those, everything works fine. In your previous version I didn't have to do this. Did a line of code go missing? Just wondering.

    Thanks for all your hard work on this. You guys amaze me.

  13. I am using the new beta HFSLIP v1.79L and all updates were applied except 961373 which is a DirectX hotfix. I have it in the HF folder. Is that correct or should it be in HFSVCPACK or HFSVCPACK_SW1?

    Thanks for your time.

  14. ricktendo64- Just to be clear the search 4.0 works correctly as long as I use the "search.adm" from the sourcess folder as it is not found in c:\$nt-win$.~LS folder. I used your integrator and it worked fantastically except for this small problem.

    tommyp- I'll stick with 2.0. Even with these minor glitches I think it is better.

    Thanks again guys.

  15. tommyp- Thank you for replying and for correcting my mistake. I was aware that tomcat76 was responsible for HFSLIP and was in error mentioning you. My hat's off to you for setting the record straight.

    I have created and run the image multiple times directly from my know good hard drive through winnt.exe on a virtual machine. I have many gigs of free space. The outcome is always the same.

    I guess I will have to continue to use my temporary fixes for now. It gets the job done....... with a couple of extra steps.

  16. I am very impressed with what can be accomplished with HFSLIP 2.0. Hats off to TommyP and Ricktendo64 for their amazing work. With that being said, I have encountered three minor problems while trying to create a slipstream with XP Home Edition. They are not critical but they are more annoying than anything else.

    1. “wpdmtpdr.dll not found” error during “setup is copying files to disk” phase. The file is in the soucess folder. I “fixed” this problem by having HFSLIP add this file to DOSNET as currently it only adds it to TXTSETUP.SIF.

    2. “setup cannot copy …. Wscenter.mof” error during the “Copying Files” phase of the GUI setup. I’m not sure what wscenter.mof is besides it being part of WBEM. The puzzling part is after the initial copying of files wscenter.mof is in the c:\$nt-win$.~LS folder but after reboot it is gone. Where did it go? It is noted in both DOSNET and TXTSET.SIF. My temporary fix was to use the file in the sourcess folder.

    3. “setup cannot copy….. search.adm” error during the “Installing Start Menu Items” phase. I used Ricktendo64’s RVM integrator in HFAAO as this is part of Windows Search 4.0. Again where did this file go? Same as above, it was there before the reboot. It is also noted in DOSNET and TXTSETP.SIF. My temporary fix was to use the file in the sourcess folder.

    I know these are minor errors but I was hopeful someone could shed some light on why this might be happening and how to fix them. Thanks in advance for all your help.
