Depending on what type of notepad ur looking for i guess... you could always try an alternative like ... Quik-E Note which i find works well... but each to their own!

Hey peoples, i was just wondering if there was a favourite Optimization tool that you all use for "tweaking" your LAN card (TCP/IP) im interested in getting more out of the card and rather than running throught registry hacks i was wondering if anyone had a program that they would suggest?

HyDeNCiTy, Your probably gonna hate me for this, but have you tried un-installing all of MS Office, and doing a complete re-install, its sounds stupid - but the chances are whatever got broken would probably fix itself with a re-install... or the other alternative - have you got the latest patches for your excel, they've had 100's since its original release... If you really cant be bothered doing any of that You might like to go to microsoft and obtain the latest version of MDAC(Microsoft Data Access Components) i think its service pack 8 last i checked... and install that... Hope that is of some help

hey shapeless Although its been a while, you might like to look at www.bootdisk.com - they have all the disk sets for windows os's - basically if i were you id probably grab the 2K or NT set... that will give you standard setup options for an OS install - which will give you the ability to format the hard drive in NTFS mode! In all honesty, (correct me if im wrong people) but i do believe this is strictly a windows XP function - it was and never will become a Windows 2000 Pro option... You might like to try google for some network bridging software - there is bound to be something out there... Ideally you would update your OS to Windows XP Know that really doesnt help But i would look for software as a last resort... download.com google.com Best bet Good Luck

Yes, there is a quick key for it... If you use the Windows Key + L (windows key being the one between control and alt) Will bring you back to the welcome screen. - To switch, not log you off... So, ideally, you would let it start up, hit Windows + L to bring you back to the welcome screen... Presently i beleive however, the windows firewall is started by default - if thats what your using, and i do know the Norton Internet Security starts as a service last i checked - so that should be running as well... These are the commands available to you, i bold'd the ones i think may help - sorry if its not, you might prefer to use a real porgramming language rather than using DOS scripts... DOS Is a little limited for that kind of stuff...

As far as i can see from the doco that i have read. There isnt anything that can automate the password section? - Correct me if im wrong people... Basically, -a will log you will pass your current username... I.E telnet www.blahblahblah.com -a Should pass your username, not a password Whereas telnet www.blahblahblah.com -l Admin Should pass the username "admin" and again no password. As far as i can see there isnt much in the way of passing a Password. Sorry i couldnt be of more help.

My vote goes to asus Better BIOS... Its a personal preference...

There is another prog out there called Original CD Emulator - which i found works pretty well - good for gaming anyways - it doesnt seem to have any conflict issues... Just a suggestion - you can probably google it

Id agree with crofttk... REGMON is pretty good - although its more of an active monitoring system... ie while the application is running. Kind of a pointless comment i know

Okay, in that case - i would still repeat the same process. Chances are that the path is stored SOMEWHERE in the registry... Most common HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Office OR Plan B which REALLY sucks... - Remove office from all of the computers, and then re-install from the start at least that way it will reset the correct path.... then you can patch them Sorry i couldnt be of more help

I've got some suggestions - but your probably not gonna like them. Basically it depends on how computer literate you are. Firstly - Windows ME was probably the worst choice you could have made! Blue screens EVERYWHERE... but we cant help that now If i were in your situation - i wouldnt bother frigging around with the software - you've obviously tried re-installing with no luck... Id either... 1. Take the hard drive out, put it in another computer as a secondary drive and take the data you want. - Then put it back and format it. OR 2. Go into DOS, if you can get there delete your ENTIRE C:\WINDOWS directory re-install - this will allow you to re-install, chances are most things wont work of the start - but at least then you could re-install burning software, burn your data and format again. First place i would look is in the registry: 1. Start - Run -> Type "regedit" - Click OK 2. Do a find for "\\server1\offcexp_usethisone" If you find it anywhere (Which you probably will) replace it with the path your after - you might also like to make sure that your using the right CD that you originally installed with - i've seen previous install's be picky about which CD you use.

Exams suck Hope im not too late, i would try two things... 1. Download Adaware from download.com 2. Once you've run a scan using ad-aware in safe mode and removed everything it finds - repatch your computer with SP1a - see if it helps Just a thought Good Luck

Id agree with XtremeMaC on that one -there are plenty of options. All depends on types of cards etc. Just make sure they're all sitting in the same WORKGROUP/DOMAIN.
