Has anyone tested the new updates with a SSE1 - only system? Do they all require SSE2?
I have one machine with only SSE that I have disabled the automatic update, so I wait too
(all fine on three other machines with SSE2)

I just went through this same problem on a machine I built for someone else. I kept getting the "will be installed shortly" message until I manually set 51.0 in the %VERSION% section of the update URL and manually forced it to check for updates. Then it magically decided that it would work...
QuoteIMPORTANT: The Primetime CDM plugin can no longer be downloaded from Adobe servers, which means that attempts to automatically download the plugin through Firefox GUI will fail even if you edit the download configuration URL per the old instructions below.
QuoteTo manually install the actual Primetime plugin software, first download the ZIP package (backup link) from @sdfox7's site (he has plenty of other useful XP stuff there as well, definitely worth checking out!)

Has anyone managed to get the BBC Iplayer (HTML5 ) play videos on FF using XP. It comes up with an error "sorry you need flash to play this".
This is the test page.
.
Just try to switch the user agent to W7 and it work !!!
(using Firefox 52.3.0esr with User Agent Switcher extension )
So that's a limitation from the site for XP

KB4018556 seems occasionally to cause problems, appears to have been withdrawn for now.

FF 45 ESR and FF 52 ESR are 2 parallel branches ;
As seem there :
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/faq/
FF 45 ESR will auto update to FF 52 ESR with version 45.9.0 ESR that is at EOL for FF 45 branch
Then FF 45.9.0 will be automatic update to 52.1.0 with the next merge on 2017-04-18 :

What about my question? 48.0.2 is latest version w/o SSE2, which runs on my PC. Any tips?
Primetime Content Decryption Module plugin need SSE2 , so if CPU doesn't support SSE2 it can't work
(I have a PC with a AMD CPU that has this issue too )

If you are pressed, do this with Firefox closed :
Quote1) change defaults/pref/channel-prefs.js to use "esr"
2) change update-settings.ini to accept "firefox-mozilla-esr" MAR files.
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1318922#c5
these 2 files are in the installation folder (Program Files > Mozilla Firefox by defaut)
then you can update to 52.0esr by the menu "Help" > about Firefox

Current release of Firefox is 51.0. I can confirm that it does work fine with Firefox 52.0 Beta-1 on Windows XP SP3 too ! After upgrading my Firefox to 52.0b1 I was forced to re-create 'media.gmp-eme-adobe.enabled' (true) and 'media.gmp-eme-adobe.visible' (true) boolean variables in about:config. Then I restarted my browser and Adobe Primetime PCD got enabled again and MP4 (H.264 + AAC) HTML5 video worked! Voila!
Hi ,
I can confirm after update to 52.0b1 on my XP sp3 , that work fine

By the way, it has come to my attention that there is a /pub directory for Opera versions 15 to the present: http://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/desktop/
The final XP version at this time is 36.0.2130.65. http://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/desktop/36.0.2130.65/win/Opera_36.0.2130.65_Setup.exe
Opera 36 is technically still supported, but it's unknown if there will be any further patch releases- this was released way back in April.
The last XP version is Opera stable 36.0.2130.80

While I have previously recommended switching to an alternative browser, the question is: if SlimJet continues to work on XP, what functions/code does it have that allows it to run, and can that be ported to Chrome 50?
XP support will be dropped in Slimjet 12
QuoteXP users can continue to download Slimjet 11 from the early version archive. If there is a critical security issue with Slimjet 11, we will update it into the Slimjet 11 branch.

I noticed that the last VPS on my installation is the following: 160331-2. A more recent version seems not avalaible.
Has anyone tried an update of the own definitions after this date on a pc with different OS? I cannot establish if it's about an issue and this depends from windows 98 or the support was dropped for all and the 160331-2 was the last definitive definition for Avast 4.8I confirm, I just have the same
On 04/04/2016 at 7:23 PM, sdfox7 said:Please download the 4.8.0 update on Avast's standalone update page, and let me know if this works for you:
The fact that this has not been removed leads me to believe you experiencing a specific issue not related to Avast. Are you using the latest Avast 4.8.1368 installer? http://sdfox7.com/avast/4.x/setupeng.exe
I have download the vpsud4.exe from the 04/04 et I just download it from today and this is the same file [113 Mo (119 074 336 octets)] than from 31/03;
I run it but it say the vps are uptodate and it is the 160331-2 version

That is good news that we should get an "official" fix this week!
What is the version number of the new win32k.sys file, will it be OK if the unofficial patch is already installed?
The new version number of win32k.sys file is 5.1.2600.6755
(it the official French update, I haven't install the unofficial patch)

avast! puts KernelEx-4.5.2.exe into the Virus Chest because of suspicious behavior..
Reported as "Win32:SuspBehav-J [Heur]".
A false positive of course, but I just thought I'd let you know.
Hi, same thing for me , when I try to download the file with my PC running XP
I have reported it yesterday on the Avast forum :
