  1. Native Iso burning support :) +

    Classic Look gone -

I kinda liked Classic Look.. sad that its gone but not heartbroken

    Aero Peak +

    Library's +-

From a geek standpoint i love it but i know that 97 percent of the users i support will not get it aka 1.2 million questions to jon asking about library's

    New Taskbar +

I know alot of people dislike it but its just cool.. i mean come on.

  2. I like it although for me Google chrome is buggy. For some reason i can't click the scroll bar. I fail. i was using the older version that wouldn't update. Works fine now. . also i was unable to install AVG internet security and Daemon Tools. The Wallpaper Sideshow basically sucks if you have hundreds of wallpapers to choose from since you cant just simply say use all pictures in this folder. you have to choose all the photos. The superbar seems fine as does aero shake. the window snaping thing is cool but eh i could of lived without it.

  3. the problem with that is, it would be a very complicated control panel, and for some settings you would have toi seriously dig down, scarring some users and making it harder to navigate in general, and thus defeating the object.

Are you wanting gpo, hyperv, ad, dns, sites and services etc etc... all in there too???

Um im a little confused on how this would make it "complicated". Currently the control panel isn't really a control panel. It serves as a glorified link page. that leads you all over the place unless ur an msdst and you know where every menu option is. With this you would never not know where you are or where you've been. Did you look at his mockups?

  4. Windows7 seems to might get the much wanted MinWin after all!

MinWin was scrapped. Not surprised.

Um MinWin was not scrapped.. its part of windows 7.... MinWin is the Core of the os that they have been working on for about 10 years Since the windows code before hand was kinda crazy and all over the place. MinWin and its advances are going to be what future versions of windows will be built upon.

  5. I tried to install it in VMware v6.50 build118166 and.... it started to load, but couldn't seem to find any disk! It kept asking me to load the appropriate driver. :^( Seems odd, no? ANybody know the trick to getting it to install in a VM?

I installed it no problem... what options did u choose for the vm? i just told it that i was installing vista and it worked fine.

  6. So i tried another install and i caught a glimpse of the error. it had 3B in it and it said something about dxgkrnl.sys. So i think it has something to do with the nvida drivers they threw on the disk. So i'm hoping the next release has an updated driver base. Until then ill just fool around with it in a VM.

  7. Try it on another machine, using the vanilla un-tampered with iso.

And its not exactly a shock it having some bugs now is it!!! :P

I did install it on anther machine. i said i installed it at school didn't i lol. and i know but im p***ed cuz well i wanna use it.

99% of BSOD on installs a mass storage drivers.... if you catch a glimpse of 07B in the error, then you know it is something with the mass storage driver for you machine

I'm not sure if this is the case since it detected my drives fine and copied the setup files and finished expanding them. I get the BSOD right when windows is setting up. Ill do another run thru now though and see if i can catch a glimpse of the error.

  8. Just like everyone else i acquired a copy of the 6801 build after the PDC. Installed it at school and had no problems what so ever. Went home and tried to do a clean install and BSOD FTL!! :realmad: Its funny though because it runs and install perfectly fine in VMware. But any way, has anyone else encountered this problem or have a way to fix it? I would love to be able to mess around with this build at home.

Setup runs perfectly fine until the part that says "starting windows". I think its the third restart. I get to the point that says "setting up devices & settings" or something like that and bam BSOD.. with out fail.

Uh here is a list of things i tried:

Integrate the drivers with vlite (didn't work cuz i think they changed the way the drivers are integrated but vlite didn't show any errors so idk)

upgrade from vista (didn't work cuz it didn't copy the vista drivers... but i did this as a shot in the dark)

    disabled audio. not the problem

disabled my network card (wasn't the problem)

I know its not my raid controller cuz thats the drive i was installing to and my raid controller is in ide mode anyway

I can't get a good look at the blue screen since windows auto restarts by default....(really annoying they should change this dammot)

I'm thinking of trying to remove some drivers with vlite... although im not sure that'll work or if drivers are really the problem.

and im gonna grab the 64bit version and see if i got the same problem.

Oh yea here are my system specs

    Motherboard - MSI K9NGM4, Nvidia MCP68 Chipset

    Processor - AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ 2.2 GHZ

    Ram - 2GB

  9. Why would someone want to use vista whether it's SP1 SP2 when you can use an unbloated version of Windows 7 it comes out in 2009/10 but that does'nt mean you cant use XP till then right ?

My message to people who use Vista for the default OS..dont end of story get over it and wait for 7, some people waste Microsoft's time around the world while asking witty questions and reporting bugs, this is a cause of delayed products and why they release SP's. Hopefully Microsoft will ignore and slowly take their time needed to create this new OS instead of focusing on times + deadlines. Not only this but if your thinking of buying a computer or hardware you might have to buy more after because hardware vendors will need to support certain things within Windows 7 eg DirectX 11.

    let the typing commence :thumbup

    uxevangelist.net

WRONG TOPIC CAN YOU PLEASE MOVE IT TO "Microsoft Beta Discussion" ? Thanks

This website here shows some Windows 7 screenshots, would'nt microsoft want to move away from vista lol i mean why release SP's and updates on two OS (vista, Windows 7) that look-a-like as each other, does not make sense they both will do the same things obviously unless vista will be use for only directX 10 and Windows 7 will be DirectX 11..but still the OS will do the same things..no sense hm im getting way ahead of myself now.

    This just annoys me.

    :realmad: :realmad: :realmad:

Windows 7 Kernel = Windows Vista Kernel + Despatcher Lock removed, Usermode scheduler added, Boot from VHD enabled and minwin + More. Now please tell me how you can possibly be so anti-vista and pro win 7 knowing what you now know....

i know it seems like a great idea to yell at him but he made the post in feb.. before we knew anything about 7 other than a few rumors...
