Think we stay on Xp / Win 7

  3. I use the Intel Matrix Storage Manager with IaStor version 8.8.1009.

This is a driver used on Intel Chipset CH9 (?). It's an old driver,

but still the newest from Intel. Checked it yesterday.

The machine is and brand new Acer Aspire 5738z with 4 Gb memory.

Acer have no driver at all to this machine.

I will take a look at the link you send me.

    Thank you for the answer.

  4. Hiiii

I have a slipstreamed Xp (Sp3) Cd with IaStor.sys installed supporting AHCI mode.

I using the http://unattended.ms...g/unattended.xp way to get it implementet on the Xp Cd.

This work fine if AHCI mode is enabled in Bios. If not - Xp been installed in standart Ide Mode.

It works fine, but now i see some of my machine have a error in Event viewer saying:

Error on IaStor.sys, drive not respondig, timeout and so on.

The IaStor.sys are the latest version and matching the chipset in the machines.

I realy need to get back to Ide mode, i can't reinstall this machine because of license problems in the installed software.

Earlier i have observed some registry change in this forum i be able to use, but now i didn't find them anymore.

This worked fine, i do the change, rebooted, get direcly in the Bios and set Ide mode, then restart again and all was OK.

I find a lot of text how i do this in Vista, but that's not work for me.

    Can anybody help me ??

    Best Regards

  5. I'm not so good i English, please don't kill me for that :-)

First, i downloadet Internet Explorer 8 to C:\ and renamed the file to Ie8.exe.

Then i Copy my Xp Corporate Cd (Slipstreamed with Sp3) to C:\Test.

Somewhere on internet i find that Microsoft use a Selfextractfileformat that have a intern filelist in the file and that the Hexbyte 60 00 before the filename tell that just that file should start when the extraction are ready. All other filest start with Hexbyte 20 00.

Well, the startfile in Ie8.exe is Iesetup.exe", the file that is originaly used to upgrade an already installed Windows.

I used a Hexeditor and edit the Ie.8.exe so the file "Iesetup.exe" have Hexbyte 20 00 before the filename an so edit the Hexbyte before the file"Update.exe" to 60 00, the file that is originaly used to Integrate the Ie8 into something.

I save the file and write "Ie8.exe /Integrate:c:\test and get a Successed Dialog.

And the files are realy copied into the Cd . . .

But - When the Xp Install copying files to the Hd i get a Error message and then the machine Reboot before i can read the error message. The Reboot loop's forever.

Then i install a new Windows to the same Hd in another \Win Directory and take a look in the Bad \Windows directory. I see a lot off ordinary windows files missing but don't find any logs saying what's wrong.

Wondering, what files tell the install program which file should be copied to the Hd ?

Can someone help debugging this problem ?

  7. Well, i belive Microsoft stop the integrating just because they don't like Xp anymore.

I think the solution are simple and as you see the option are supportet. Why ?

And i don't like Nlite and so one !!

I have already used CmdLines.txt and get in at T-12, but are not happy whit that.

I like Xp and want it integratet on the Cd so the Install process going faster.

  9. First, i have:

    Acer Aspire 2920z

    Chipset:

    Intel® GM965 Express Chipset

    Memory Controller:

    82GM965

    I/O Controller:

    Intel® 82801HB/HR I/O Controller hub (ICH8M)

    Device Manager says:

    Intel® ICH8M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller

    VEN_8086&DEV_2829&SUBSYS_01351025

I have download from Intel the Matrix Storage Manager and added all the files on my unattended Xp Cd (sp3).

and they install correct and Xp boot and so on.

But i feel that the diskaccess are slow sometime, just like the Hd is sleeping, but i have turned that function off in my Control Panel\Power Config.

I also have new problems with some software i never had before, sometime they works, sometime not.

Change in my desktop layout, changing Directorys rights and so on, even after a clean install.

(And this is not a virus, that's well tested)

A Disktest always give me this message:

Cleaning up minor inconsistencies on the drive.

Cleaning up 32 unused index entries from index $SII of file 0x9.

Cleaning up 32 unused index entries from index $SDH of file 0x9.

This look like a world wide problem and Microsoft just say instal Sp3. Just as i have done !

So now i wondering about my Txtsetup.inf, it is Ok ?

    Specially this part:

    [sourceDisksFiles]

    iaStor.sys = 100,,,,,,3_,4,1,,,1,4

This i searched on Internet and find there, but now i'm not sure it's right.

I also see a lot of other choise and combination here. What are they, what are they telling ?

And - are this the right values for my hardware ?

    Please help.

  10. I have installed an unattended Xp on my hardisk, C:\Windows.

I testing installing the same unattended Cd, but now, when i get a choise, i say C:\NT.

My first install go to C:\Document & Settings\ and i get this users:

    Administrator

    Default Users

    All Users

and my second install also go to C:\Document & Settings\ and now i also get this users:

    Administrator.MachineName

    Default User.NT

    All Users.Nt

    Fine . . .

When i install Xp i want to, at T-12, deleting some files and adding other files to the Current Default User directory.

But - i can't delete/adding files using my script without know the Current Defaul User directory name.

Need to pick up the value of the Current Defaul User directory name for safe Deleting/Adding files - to the right folder.

Is there any Variable like "%Default User%" or something i can use, testing a lot but so far . . .

    Sorry about my Badly SchoolEnglish

    Best Regards

  11. unattended install method(somebody say it's children method) :

    1.download KB892130

    2.extract KB892130 you will have 2 files=LegitCheckControl.msi &Setup.exe

    3.REG ADD %KEY%\060 /V 1 /D "%CDROM%\INSTALL\Update\WGA\LegitCheckControl.msi" /f

integrate method(somebody say it's big boy method) :

    1.download LegitCheckControl.cab

    2.extract LegitCheckControl.cab you will get LegitCheckControl.dll & GWFSPIDGen.dll & LegitCheckControl.inf

    3.add LegitCheckControl.dll & GWFSPIDGen.dll into $OEM$\$$\System32\

    4.regsvr32.exe /S %SystemRoot%\system32\LegitCheckControl.dll

    Two methods run OK

    Hiii

I also hear about the Children way and the Big Boy way.

Well, here come the Oldies way . . .

First, i copy my LegitCheckControl.dll file (Ver. 1,7,0069,2) into $OEM$\$$\System32\.

Then in CMDLINES.TXT Running at T-12 and where my RegTweaksfile are i added this:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce]
    "LegitCheck"=hex(2):52,00,65,00,67,00,53,00,76,00,72,00,33,00,32,00,20,00,2f,\
    00,53,00,20,00,25,00,73,00,79,00,73,00,74,00,65,00,6d,00,72,00,6f,00,6f,00,\
    74,00,25,00,5c,00,73,00,79,00,73,00,74,00,65,00,6d,00,33,00,32,00,5c,00,4c,\
    00,65,00,67,00,69,00,74,00,43,00,68,00,65,00,63,00,6b,00,43,00,6f,00,6e,00,\
    74,00,72,00,6f,00,6c,00,2e,00,64,00,6c,00,6c,00,00,00

    In plain text it says:

    RegSvr32 /S %systemroot%\system32\LegitCheckControl.dll

    This work fine and the key's {17492023-C23A-453E-A040-C7C580BBF700}

    will also be created.

    ADDENDUM.

In the same key i also have:

"Remove Users 1"="\"net\" user HelpAssistant /delete"

    "Remove Users 2"="\"net\" user Support_388945a0 /delete"

so i can remove the default users in Xp

    That's all

    Best Regards

  12. As an Old Dos Girl this was impossible in Batch-Jobs

but see, here in Xp is it possible !

This is the file i have in my Start Menu\Programs\Startup Folder.

    The file is named: Startup.cmd

    Cls
    @Echo Off
    RD /S /Q "%Userprofile%\Favorites\links"
    Del /F /Q "%Userprofile%\Start Menu\Programs\*.lnk"
    RD /S /Q "%Userprofile%\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories"

    Del /F "%Userprofile%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\Startup.cmd"
    Exit

  13. doing a search for use of the runonce, runonceex, and guirunonce will yield massive results.

    quick and dirty:

    under i386 built an $oem$

in the root of the $oem$ placed the following

    File Name: cmdlines.txt

    File contents

    --------------------------------

    [Commands]

    ".\Install\RunOnce.cmd"

    --------------------------------

Then made an "$oem$\install' folder and placed the runonce.cmd and added these lines

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    SET REGKEY=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx

REG ADD %REGKEY%\012 /VE /D "Playing with Users and Groups" /f -group title strictly cosmetic, nice little arrow next to active set

REG ADD %REGKEY%\012 /V 12 /D "net localgroup auditors /add" /f -creates an auditors group

REG ADD %REGKEY%\012 /V 13 /D "net localgroup auditors admin /add" /f -adds user 'admin' to the auditors group

    REG ADD %REGKEY%\012 /V 14 /D "CACLS c:\windows\system32\config /E /T /C /G "auditors":F" /f -grants rights to auditors on the config folder

REG ADD %REGKEY%\012 /V 15 /D "NET USER guest /passwordreq:yes" /f -makes the guest account require a password

    REG ADD %REGKEY%\012 /V 16 /D "NET USER IUSR_%computername% /passwordreq:yes" /f -makes the IUSR require a password

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If all you are doing is removing users then its probably easier to test on your production box.

build the .cmd first, add the runonce lines, execute, and reboot. You should see it fire off when you log in, I use the runonceex because it makes a pretty dialog that lets the user know something is occuring. Also the /VE helps when you are doing many minutes worth of various loads and the user might believe something has gone awry, also helps with troubleshooting.

Woww, locking complex for a Old Lady easy get confused.

    Insted, i use this code:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce]
"Remove Users 1"="\"net\" user HelpAssistant /delete"
    "Remove Users 2"="\"net\" user Support_388945a0 /delete"

    That's work fine for me.

Thank's anyway, you give me the information i just needed

    :thumbup

  14. I run my NET and CACLS during the runonceex portion, that way I dont have to take stabs at where in the install the pieces are created and able to be manipulated.

*you managed to spell helpassistant wrong in both examples, make sure that is not the case in your cmd.*

Hmmm, yes i see, wrongspelled here, but not in my test, there i just tested using a user called Help.

Can you please tell me how you used Runonce ? Never used it.

  15. Hiii

I want, in my unattended setup, to delete the Xp's 2 Default User named:

    Helpassistant

    support_388945a0

I find somewhere in here someone saying i can do it from DosShell if i use this Command:

    Net User helpassistant /delete

    Net User support_388945a0 /delete

That's work in DosShell, but if i create a test.cmd file it's just looping and don't delete the user.

Someone have a better solution deleting this users ?

    Best Regard
