Why do you think that OEM pre-activation should work on a Gigabyte motherboard? AFAIK, no large PC OEM uses Gigabyte motherboards. What brand is your PC? And what OS was pre-installed on it?

Because someone might want to only integrate updates and no more. nLite is more suited for slightly more extensive reconstruction. Besides, having more than one way to do something is always helpful when squishing bugs...
