i agree but rule #1 for a computer, there's nothing bugfree with 2.6.16 they introduced some new features that are causing the some headaches. i'm writting on a 2.6.15.22 machine and i haven't had any problems kernel related

options: 1. res-hack shell32.dll, look for the icon and replace it. 2. use a command on a batch file similar to: REG ADD "HKCR\.txt\DefaultIcon" /VE /D "path\txtfile.ico" /f note: search for more info since some programs can modify the filetype
you can use a batch (.cmd) file this way: REG ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\.bmp\DefaultIcon" /VE /D "path\bmpfile.ico" /F some extensions will link you to sub-classes, there's plenty of info on this same forum
to me looks like there are missing quotes somewhere. look at error box, it can't find 'C:\Program' instead of 'C:\Program files'. make sure all paths are correct and using quotes
some bmps at winntbbu don't have transparency (even with 32bits alpha-layered bitmaps) so... if it works for oemlogo it will work for any bitmap if the application supports it
i really enjoyed vista but now ... i've read so many critics ... vista is just everywhere and is not even released! everybody is trying to emulate vista visuals and i must say i'm really tired ... there were so much features that were finally removed from the dev process (aka winfs) ... all i can say is that i'll try the final version but i don't know if it will be installed much time ...
