  1. Im trying to get rid of the 8mm tapes that we use to backup our Exchange server. Problem is if I use USB hard disks I have to re import the drive in Device Manager every time. I tried to setup a drive letter and hoped that the server would "remember" the disk and assign it the same drive letter. This is not he case. I have to go into device manager each time to re import the disk. Am I missing something here?

  3. Hi, I have never hosted my own website before. Im trying to do so in Win Serv 2003, in IIS. It seems like I can just create a site in the default website and go from there. Do I need to do anything in DNS to allow my users to type something like: http://helpdesk or helpdesk If they were to do it now, only the IP address of the server can display the webpage. Any help is appreciated, Ive had good luck on this site
  4. Im trying to get OMA to work properly on Exchange 2003 Ent ED SP2. I cant get OMA and OWA to work properly at the same time. It seems by playing with the SSL options, I can get one working but not the other. Am I missing something? I have tried a million different combos with none allowing both to work together properly. I have FBA on I have SSL on: IIS/Websites/DefaultWebsite/Exchange IIS/Websites/DefaultWebsite/MicrosoftServerActiveSync IIS/Websites/DefaultWebsite/OMA This configuration means that "OWA" will work but not "OMA". Anyone have a silver bullet????
  5. I have the most annoying problem ever. I use: Alienware - mod box P4 Nvidia 7950 1tb HDD 4 gb ram Toshiba 42in display Xbox 360 as MCE When I use my Xbox (Color Stream HD input) to watch tv (MC) my setup works great. No problems. However, when I switch my tv input to the HDMI port (which is where the pc is plugged in) I get a "No TV Signal on my Toshiba. I cant get into the pc at all. After I mess with it, turn off and turn on a few times it eventually gives me the "Safe Mode" screen and then the display pops up. Very annoying! I turned off sleep, away mode and hibernate with no difference. I have another setup in my bedroom that does the same dang thing. Alienware - mod box AMD ATI Radeon 1tb HDD 4 gb ram Toshiba 42in display Xbox 360 as MCE Any Ideas!!!!
  6. I did run that scanner. It found the .5 address. However, I couldnt open as a page, telnet, see a mac address or anything associated with it. It looked promising when I did the scan but didnt help me with this .5 IP.
  7. ping -a does do a ptr lookup on the IP address. He stated that didn't work, hence 192.168.1.5 doesn't have a ptr (or a forward A) record. I ran the commands and got this message "serverFQDN cant find 5.1.168.192. in-addr.arpa.: Non-existant domain"
  8. that assumes it's a PC, and assumes it accepts remote desktop sessions. Remote desktop did not work. I really loved that idea too! The ping suggestion didnt work either. We have over 100+ devices on the network so going from pc to pc doenst sound like a blast Any other suggestions?
  9. I loved this idea! It didnt work though... It may not be setup for remote (as stated in later post). The ping option didnt work either. I appreciate the options, anymore?
  10. Hi, I am a new SysAdmin and I was overhauling the DHCP. Im having trouble finding out what computer is at (192.168.1.5) on my internal network. I pinged it and got a reply. Is there an easy way I can find out what computers are associated with which IP address? DHCP only shows me reservations and leases. Its not in either. Help!
