  1. I am running Windows server 2003 32bit standard edition w/SP3. This server is running as a domain controller with Active directory installed . I would like to move this domain controller to a new server that is running Windows server 2008 enterprise edition R2 64bit. But I need to know if there is any major issues for making this kind of move to the new server. Also I was hoping someone could give me a basic step by step for me to read up on before I make this happen. I have been doing some reading online and I really can't find a cut and dry answer for configuring the new server to be the new domain controller. The old domain controller is not hosting DHCP. I want to shut the other one down because its old and has seen its time as a Domain controller. If someone could point me in the right direction I would be very greatful with any help I couuld get. Thanks,
  2. Thanks Allen2 for all your help. I will let you know how the trial version of TerminalWorks TSPrint works for me and if it is easy to use or not.
  3. Thanks again for getting back to me and explaining the way it works. I was looking at a program called TSPrint have you ever used it.. TerminalWorks TSPrint http://www.terminalworks.com/tsprint.php I was going to give it try and see if that program would be easier to use. Let me know what you think.....
  4. I guess the way it works is when the person connects to the Terminal Server the Terminal Server must have the Printer loaded on the Terminal server that matches the persons Local Printer that is connected. That way if the person wants to print from an application on the Terminal Server to his local machine they can do so. So person Prints and the Terminal Server knows that Printer driver is loaded on the server and knows how to handle that remote Printer for the Remote user. Is that correct???? Thanks,
  5. Thanks So much for the help , I will take a look at all options, But I think it would best for me to load the 64 bit drivers because I only have about 5 different printers to get working I think. Question can I load the 64 bit driver and the add 86bit drivers later for users that connect with 32bit printers.
  6. I have a Windows 2003 R2 server 64bit that hosts Terminal Services. When a user connects using Remote desktop connection I make sure that they go to the options area and make sure they turn on Printers in local devices and resources. But everytime they connect and open the application such as Peachtree accounting software and try to print to thier local printer they are unable to print. I was hoping someone could give me the steps to have a person print to thier local printer when connected to the Terminal server and printing from that application. The one person that I would like to get printing is a person that has a HP Laserjet 1320n.But would like to get everyones printers working as well. Thanks,
  7. For some time now I have been noticing that some computers on the network are slow viewing web sites and some are very fast reguardless of the CPU speed. I can hardwire the computers to the network and still same as being on the wireless. But some comupters with the same specs are a 100 times more faster on the exact same network line that I had the slow computer on. I have noticed that some of the older Mac computers are really the ones that are having the trouble viewing websites fast and some are not. I do use the same network line for testing that is a Gig line to make sure its not the network line. I have even connected the computers direct to the cable modem to bypass local network and still the same results. I have even formatted the hard drives and reloaded some of them to see if it would make a difference and I get the same results. I know that these computers that are slow have been very fast viewing websites before. Also when I go to local network share locations and transfer files they go FAST all the time. I was wondering if anyone could help with this problem. I was thinking maybe its the MTU settings. the MTU settings on the Mac computers is set to 1500. If anyone could help me please respond to this post ASAP. THANKS!!!!
  8. Thanks for the help, I will look and see if this can help....
  9. Hello Everyone, I was hoping that someone could help me out with finding a few good word doc templates for Computer Maintenance Plans and Repair.I have been looking on the web but really didn't find anything that is good and solid. So if anyone has any that they would like to share please let me know ASAP. Thanks, Deploysrs
  10. Everything seemed to work Perfect so Thanks for the great Reply...
  11. Can anyone tell me if this sounds correct using two Network Cards. I have a computer that is still running Windows 2000 and is connected to the local Network with network Card1. I want to keep Card1 as it is and then add a Second network Card2.Card1 is not configured with settings to get to the ISP but is configured to connect to the local lan. But I would like to configure network Card2 with the proper settings so the computer can get to the web using internet explorer. So if I add the info from the ISP that they gave me to Card2 then I should be able to get to the WEB fine. And then also at the same time I should be able to get to the local network still because I still have Card1 still configured for the local Lan Network.
  12. I finally had to rebuild the server. After I posted for help the Server would not even allow the Domain admin to logon not even the local admin. But I would like to thank you for your post. It sounds like you were correct with losing the trust relationship with the Domain.I will start to look at why this happened in the first place so it won't happen again. Thanks!!!!!!!!
  13. I have a Windows Server 2008 standard R2 running that is joined to my Domain. On that same server I have a few folders being shared. I just noticed today that I get this error when trying to connect ( \\192.168.1.167 is not accessiable. You must not have permission to use this network resource.Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain Failed.) I heard that if I join the server to a WORKGROUP and then join it back to the domain that should fix the problem. But I was hoping if there is a better way so I don't have to re-create all my shares and permissions again. If anyone could help please right back ASAP, Thanks everyone..
  14. Thanks FAT64 I will give it a try and I will let you know how it works out......
