1. Reminds me that the latest version of UltraISO is now able to extract the BIF (Boot Information File) from the ISO of Acronis True Image 9...
2. The thing is that I get the list from Windows Update on a clean install under simulation... so if the hotfixes are showing up on Windows Update, I keep them on the list... no matter what.
3. You could try to install this one later... I mean after the second reboot, right before the desktop load were you go thru your batch file and/or RunOnceEx application installation.
4. Just my 2 cents... this method seems to work perfectly for a silent install: Get the installation files as mentionned and use: Optional You can also add a transformation file with this syntax: TRANSFORMS=xxx.mst
5. KB903235 was retired in August... for the two other, I can't confirm since they were showing up on a clean install under simulation...
6. *** CRAP *** too early to get the article and the download on MS website...
7. This list is correct and for now, only KB873333 and KB893086 seems to be retired...
8. This isn't specific to AMD, Intel Dual-Core are subject to this as well? No? http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;896256
9. Only the Malicious Software Removal Tool was updated last month (KB890830)... I forgot to add it to the first page! But today is the big day! there will be at least one new critical update.
10. OK! I think I got it! Since I am multibooting, I must add the $OEM$ folder which contains the drivers to the BOOT folder (not inside I386). It seems to be working under simulation... I'll test it on a real computer tomorrow. I can even "see" setup copying iaStor.sys during the installation process.
11. Here is a start: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?s=&sho...ndpost&p=236670 use the search engine for each topic (IE6, Media Player 9, DirectX 9), you'll find everything you need...
12. Well, I think I'll consider using the method described in the "official" guide... http://unattended.msfn.org/intermediate/drivers/raid.htm To thing I liked about the method in this topic is that I didn't have to edit any other file than winnt.sif and I didn't have to directly put any files in the I386 folder...
13. Thanks Bilou but this doesn't solve the problem completly... altought I don't get the second error anymore Here's the error I get during setup: (translated from french)
The txtsetup.oem file has caused an unexpected error (18) at line 1747 in d:\xpsprtm\base\boot\setup\oemdisk.c. Press any key to continue
also, after pressing any key a few times, I get this one: (translated from french)
The file given by the manufacturer that setup is trying to use is corrupt or invalid: Line 1 contain a syntax error. The setup program cannot continue. To quit the setup program, press F3
14. Well well well, the time has finally come to integrate some MassStorageDrivers to my CD! I have some notebook with Intel SATA controller and I need to add theses drivers to my installation CD. So I took a look at this whole topic and unfortunatly, it doesn't work for me. Here is what I've got: txtsetup.oem
[Disks]disk1 = "Intel Application Accelerator driver", iaStor.sys, \ [Defaults] scsi = iaStor_ICH6R ;----------- Component Section ----------- [scsi] iaStor_ICH6R = "Intel® 82801FR SATA RAID Controller (Desktop ICH6R)" iaAHCI_ICH6R = "Intel® 82801FR SATA AHCI Controller (Desktop ICH6R)" iaAHCI_ICH6M = "Intel® 82801FBM SATA AHCI Controller (Mobile ICH6M)" iaStor_ICH5R = "Intel® 82801ER SATA RAID Controller (Desktop ICH5R)" iaStor_ICH5RHR = "Intel® 6300ESB SATA RAID Controller" ;------------------------------------------- [Files.scsi.iaStor_ICH6R] driver = disk1, iaStor.sys, iaStor inf = disk1, iaStor.inf catalog = disk1, iaStor.cat [Files.scsi.iaAHCI_ICH6R] driver = disk1, iaStor.sys, iaStor inf = disk1, iaAHCI.inf catalog = disk1, iaAHCI.cat [Files.scsi.iaAHCI_ICH6M] driver = disk1, iaStor.sys, iaStor inf = disk1, iaAHCI.inf catalog = disk1, iaAHCI.cat [Files.scsi.iaStor_ICH5R] driver = disk1, iaStor.sys, iaStor inf = disk1, iaStor.inf catalog = disk1, iaStor.cat [Files.scsi.iaStor_ICH5RHR] driver = disk1, iaStor.sys, iaStor inf = disk1, iaStor.inf catalog = disk1, iaStor.cat ;------------------------------------------- [Config.iaStor] value = "", tag, REG_DWORD, 1b value = "", ErrorControl, REG_DWORD, 1 value = "", Group, REG_SZ, "SCSI miniport" value = "", Start, REG_DWORD, 0 value = "", Type, REG_DWORD, 1 ;------------------------------------------------------- [HardwareIds.scsi.iaStor_ICH6R] id = "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2652&CC_0104","iaStor" [HardwareIds.scsi.iaAHCI_ICH6R] id = "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2652&CC_0106","iaStor" [HardwareIds.scsi.iaAHCI_ICH6M] id = "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2653&CC_0106","iaStor" [HardwareIds.scsi.iaStor_ICH5R] id = "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24DF&CC_0104","iaStor" [HardwareIds.scsi.iaStor_ICH5RHR] id = "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_25B0&CC_0104","iaStor"
winnt.sif
[MassStorageDrivers]"IDE CD-ROM (ATAPI 1.2)/PCI IDE Controller" = "RETAIL" "Intel® 82801FR SATA RAID Controller (Desktop ICH6R)" = "OEM" "Intel® 82801FR SATA AHCI Controller (Desktop ICH6R)" = "OEM" "Intel® 82801FBM SATA AHCI Controller (Mobile ICH6M)" = "OEM" "Intel® 82801ER SATA RAID Controller (Desktop ICH5R)" = "OEM" "Intel® 6300ESB SATA RAID Controller" = "OEM" [OEMBootFiles] txtsetup.oem iaahci.inf iaahci.cat iastor.cat iastor.inf iastor.sys
Of course, I added the files to \$OEM$\TEXTMODE and \I386\$OEM$ folder Here's the error I get during setup: (translated from french)
The txtsetup.oem file has caused an unexpected error (18) at line 1747 in d:\xpsprtm\base\boot\setup\oemdisk.c. Press any key to continue
also, after pressing any key a few times, I get this one:
The Entry "IDE CD-ROM (ATAPI 1.2)/PCI IDE Controller" doesn't exist in the unattended installation script file in the [SCSI] section of the INF txtsetup.sif The installation program cannot continue Press any key to quit
Keep in mind I have a multiboot CD and the path to the source file is: \SYSTEME\XPSP2FR... this means my $OEM$ and I386 folders are there and not at the root of the CD Any help?
15. yeah and the last time, the guy was naked when his family got out...
16. ??? I need some clarification... what can we do with those files?
17. You should try to build a Floppy Image: 1) Start Acronis Media Builder and insert your first empty floppy. Let the media builder finish the first diskette and copy the files from the floppy drive to a temporary folder named SOURCE. The thing you will notice is that Windows still have those files in memory so there is no actual reading of the floppy! Ultra reliable and fast! 2) Do the same for the rest of the floppy required for your Acronis product. 3) Use EasyBoot to create a floppy image of the FIRST diskette 4) Use EasyBoot to create a floppy image to the size required by the number of diskettes and use the floppy image you created at step 3 as the SEED image. 5) Open this new oversized floppy image (empty) with WinImage 6) use the INJECT option and add all the files from the SOURCE folder 7) save 8) Now you can run this .IMG with your Favorite MultiBoot application *** EDIT *** The next release of UltraISO will support this newest version... so you'll be able to extract just like before
18. Yes, you can install IE6 like a hotfixe with the same method... Just do a little search on the site like: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=34422&hl=ie6
19. You should install IE6 at first BEFORE any hotfixes and apply the Update Rollout as the LAST hotfixe in your sequence...
20. well, well, well, today, valve released Day of Defeat: Source to their steam engine. I hope you won't be angry as I am when I discovered that I wasn't entitled to this release because I bought the Half-Life2 Collector Edition in Retail box instead of the steam package. F word You Valve
21. Looks promising... but no download and no screenshot
22. Always! For AD and DNS, I have an idea but I want some input from people having done it For the VPN, I guess I just have to set up the service, I don't think there is a way of replicating the service. Also I wonder how, when you duplicate the user's files, they get access to them in the event of a failure of the primary domain controller?
23. Hello all, I have to deploy a secondary domain controller in case the first controller goes down. The service provided with this server are: 1- Domain Controller (Active Directory) 2- DNS 3- DHCP 4- VPN 5- File Server What would be your suggestion for the simplest way of doing it? (about the DHCP part, I've heard you cannot duplicate the service, all you can do is set up a different scope and a good practice is to include about 25% of the original scope in the new one and vice versa...)
