Sorry, I don't even know what is this app! Use the Search function... I've already seen this one somewhere

If you already have a RunOnceEx method deployed I suggest you do it there... otherwise, do what Alanoll said
-
It should, I took a quick look at it

Office 2003 Unattended = no Web Update
Incroyable HULK replied to Incroyable HULK's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
@djfin Since you slipstreamed the update in your installation OfficeUpdate will tell you that there is no Updates available... and it won't tell you that you cannot update until a new patch is available... just like Alanoll said. @alanoll I think I understood well the first time you posted... but my point is even if my CD is up to date, when Microsoft release new patches, I want all our client to be able to update via OfficeUpdate on the web -
Doug (I mean Alanoll), I totally agree with you about the Topic title + the bad grammar stuff. Congratulation, you'll hit the 4000 post mark in your next reply!

well SC00BS didn't post about MSN so you'll have to extract it anyway... For Adobe, I think it will install faster if it is extracted... not sure... and I don't remember if you save some space if not extracted...

Ok, here is what I got: REG ADD %KEY%\001 /VE /D "MS Windows Media Player 10" /f REG ADD %KEY%\001 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\Applications\MediaPlayer \WMP10.exe /Q:A /C:\"setup_wm.exe /Q /R:N /DisallowSystemRestore\"" /f REG ADD %KEY%\003 /VE /D "Adobe Reader 6.0.1" /f REG ADD %KEY%\003 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\Applications\AdobeReader\AR6.msi /qn" /f REG ADD %KEY%\005 /VE /D "MSN Messenger 6.2" /f REG ADD %KEY%\005 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\Applications\Messenger\MsnMsgs.msi /qn" /f REG ADD %KEY%\009 /VE /D "LavaSoft Ad-Aware SE 1.05" /f REG ADD %KEY%\009 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\Applications\Ad-Aware\aawsepersonal.exe /smart +silent +update" /f For Adobe Reader and Messenger, you have to decompress the .exe installer with WinRAR for example. This will result in 2 files for both. For Ad-Aware, some people use TASKKILL to stop it but I didn't had any success with it so I decided to install Ad-Aware as my last application... For Norton Antivirus I can't help you... somebody else will certainly give a hint! Maybe you could use the SEARCH function... all theses are common answered questions

Is installing from a DVD faster than from cd?
Incroyable HULK replied to bledd's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
In my case, if I use a CD-R into a DVD-ROM Drive it is a bit faster but not that much... BUT I haven't tested yet a DVD-R into a DVD-ROM Drive... -
Office 2003 Unattended = no Web Update

Well like I've said, this REG KEY doesn't exist on our computer so I cannot change it to revert the value... -
Office 2003 Unattended = no Web Update
Incroyable HULK replied to Incroyable HULK's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Just to mention, I noticed a HUGE difference in size when creating an Admin Install Point. Admin Install Point = about 671Mb (with SP1 slipstreamed) Normal Installation = about 388Mb (files copied from CD) So for now I just copied the files over from the Original CD and created a MST answer file... this way Office Update is working. Next, I'll try to silently install the SP1 (client) by calling it a stage 16 of the Custom Wizard Installation. If someone has an idea about the command line I should use please let me know -

Is installing from a DVD faster than from cd?
Incroyable HULK replied to bledd's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Almost forgot, There is a little boost if you use a %CDROM% variable to install your stuff on a DVD-ROM drive instead of a CD-ROM Drive. But a DVD-ROM Drive won't be faster than a Hard Drive for this task. Overall I don't think this has a huge impact... Other factors will affect the required time for installation... I've seen somewhere (I think it's on GreenMachine's site) a benchmark about different ways to integrate hotfixes into your setup ranging from 28 to 37 minutes total installation time. -
Is installing from a DVD faster than from cd?
Incroyable HULK replied to bledd's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
You get a higher speed for the textmode setup (the part with a blue background) where all the files are copied over the hard drive but since the rest of the install is from the hard drive, you won't see a BIG speed increase... -

Incroyable HULK replied to Incroyable HULK's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
well I am usualy adding hotfixes to SVCPACK.INF and copying the hotfixe to my update folder but I decided to try the /integrate: option because KB834707.exe is not working with SVCPACK.INF Oh! crap, I took a look at the other 4 hotfixes I succesfully integrated to my CD and I noticed the following: 1- Theses 4 hotfixes are in a new folder \I386\svcpack 2- My DOSNET.INF now list the 2 folders [OptionalSrcDirs] svcpack Update 3- theses 4 hotfixes are now listed in my SVCPACK.INF but it changed some parts: [SetupData] CatalogSubDir="\I386\svcpack" *** Originaly \I386\update *** [ProductCatalogsToInstall] KB873376.cat *** New *** KB841356.cat *** New *** KB840987.cat *** New *** KB824151.cat *** New *** KB826939.cat [SetupHotFixesToRun] KB873376.exe /q /n /z *** New *** KB841356.exe /q /n /z *** New *** KB840987.exe /q /n /z *** New *** KB824151.exe /q /n /z *** New *** q823182.exe /Q /O /N /Z q824105.exe /Q /O /N /Z q824141.exe /Q /O /N /Z q825119.exe /Q /O /N /Z q828035.exe /Q /O /N /Z q828741.exe /Q /O /N /Z q835732.exe /Q /O /N /Z q837001.exe /Q /O /N /Z q839645.exe /Q /O /N /Z q840315.exe /Q /O /N /Z q840374.exe /Q /O /N /Z q841873.exe /Q /O /N /Z q842773.exe /Q /O /N /Z q824151.exe /passive /norestart /quiet q833987.exe /passive /norestart /quiet q834707.exe /passive /norestart /quiet q840987.exe /passive /norestart /quiet q841356.exe /passive /norestart /quiet q841533.exe /passive /norestart /quiet q873376.exe /passive /norestart /quiet q885626.exe /passive /norestart /quiet q814078.exe /Q:A /R:N q823353.exe /Q:A /R:N q867801.exe /Q:A /R:N mm2.exe /Q:A /R:N dxsetup.exe /silent [CatalogHeader] *** Originaly qchain.exe *** Well, now I'll have to move the content of my update folder to the svcpack folder otherwise it won't work. ****! -
Integrate HotFixes
Incroyable HULK replied to Incroyable HULK's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Yep! I even downloaded an English Version just to try (mine is French)... I did the integration into my SP2 without any flaw... the problem is with SP1 Maybe I should check how it is integrated in my SP2 CD... -
Integrate HotFixes
Incroyable HULK replied to Incroyable HULK's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
well I had 4 other update to integrate and they worked great... But here is the exact command line: "P:\Unattended Install\q834707.exe" /integrate:"P:\Unattended Install\RC - Windows XP SP1 Fr" also works with a \ at the end: "P:\Unattended Install\q834707.exe" /integrate:"P:\Unattended Install\RC - Windows XP SP1 Fr\" I run the command from the Run... prompt -
Is there a difference between those files if I take them from a MS-DOS floppy disk, a Win98 Boot Disk or a Windows XP created Boot Disk (Win ME boot disk)? wich one is the best suited for BIOS update?

missing NTLDR but with removable drive?
Incroyable HULK replied to bonedaddy's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
My guess is that your BIOS setting are causing this... Options like: Try other boot devices Boot sequence or order Boot Removable Device USB Devices USB Legacy support can affect the way your computer boot -
Another great messup from Microsoft... Thoses 3 HotFixes are supposed to support the /integrate: switch KB834707 KB841533 KB885626 but I get this error message: I've already tried to install some of them with SVCPACK.INF: KB834707.exe /passive /norestart /quiet (DOESN'T INSTALL) KB841533.exe /passive /norestart /quiet (OK! IT WORKS) KB885626.exe /passive /norestart /quiet (NOT TESTED) Any suggestions?

Can I delete 'WIN9XMIG', 'WIN9XUPG' & 'WINNTUP
Incroyable HULK replied to Sanjay's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Yes you can! Since you don't want to use your CD for upgrade it is correct. For the repair function, I don't think this has to do with WINNTUPG. I've already used my boot CD to go into Recovery Console without any of theses folder present on it. -
Windows 2000 MDAC update
Incroyable HULK replied to Incroyable HULK's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I'll try it today for sure and I'll come back to you to tell the results! -
Yes I do! And I prefer to integrate MS hotfix into my CDs since it can take a bit of time to get to windows update, select the critical update, start the process of downloading and installing them (depending on the network connection), reboot the computer, etc. If you have to do this 20 times in a month, it could become time consuming.
