    Bluetooth connectivity issues

    Hello Folks, I have a Sony BMS80 type BT mouse and I use Win7 Ultimate x64. My desktop doesn't have BT capability so I am using a ASUS USB BT adapter. Strangely, which has worked before, doesn't work anymore. Whenever I try to pair them using Devices and Printers, Add Device, the mouse shows up in the list but when you try to add it, it waits and waits "Connecting to device" ... It used to work before, I had to reinstall Win7 sometime ago and since then I couldn't get the mouse pair. I tried to pair it with the PS3, no problems, I used a different USB BT adapter, it didn't work with the computer. How can I possibly troubleshoot this device? Right now I am using another Sony BT Mouse, BMS33, working fine.

    Now, I would forget the case you have now an build yourself a computer with a new full (mid-tower) ATX case; You will get generally better/more airflow, more space to work inside and can fit a full ATX board as well.

    So, you like to play the latest flight simulators and use 1 screen to play it on? You would be fine with some latest generation ATI HD5xxx card and a simple quad core from AMD (model 620 or 630 for example), some 3 to 4GB of DDR3 RAM, new case with space for 12cm fans and a motherboard that supports USB3 / SATA gen.3.

    Let me give you an example from newegg (where you looked too):

    Well thank you for your posts and taking time. I painfully realized what a noob I am when it comes PC upgrades. I agree that it is a little overboard considering the cost of upgrades. With what I want to do I need some but not huge performance upgrade. My main concern is to be able to play some simulation games, mainly the new version of Falcon 4.0 that is coming out supposedly, which is based on DX9. Here are a few shots that leaked;

    I am not a serious gamer, (I prefer to play games on PS3 nowadays) so as long as I have a system that would run this above sim decent, I am game. At first I thought about getting a All-in-one like Gateway, HP or Sony, I don't do much gaming, I said "well if all I am going to play just a few sims, and since I am in military flight school I don't get to do much other than streaming a movie to my PS3 here and there or surfing the net, go with an all-in-one" ... All in ones seemed cool and neat, quiet, less space what not. But then they are expensive. The model that I looked had a QuadC2D Q8400S and a GT240M chip in it at around 1.8K... So I decided to upgrade what I have in hand with top of the nudge stuff, so I would not have to upgrade for a long time. As you say that would be overkill.

    I found a guy who had the same computer I currently have and did a similar upgrade project and seems happy with the results.

    So why don't I keep this upgrade simple and easy? I currently have a Antec 550W Neo Power and SB X-Fi XtremeMusic I am happy with, I don't think I need to replace those, I am happy with the HDDs. So forget SLI/Crossfire and all, keeping it simple, if you would suggest a proc, decent ATI card, mobo, what would you recommend?

    Oh I said budget i7, because I thought i7 920 was affordable at newegg, sorry.

    Folks, I need some help in making some decisions upgrading a system I have, not a computer pro so bear with me.

    I have an old VAIO that I want to practice on, upgrade and possibly pass it on to a family member after enjoying it, before I built a more serious machine. I am generally into multimedia tasks, and occasional gaming (old DX9 games like Falcon 4.0).

    I want to get this EVGA X58 SLI microATX as the case is equipped with an OEM Intel microATX, I put together a wishlist at newegg, deciding on parts, but I have no idea how I am going to install the parts, my first question was to ask if you could guide me through installation...

    Second, should I really wait for EVGA come up with a new generation of mobos that include USB 3 or Sata 3? That would be overkill in my opinion but just want to confirm that it is not really necessary right now...

    I want to get the X58 micro, couple of OC'd 9800GTs for SLI, a budget i7 processor, and a pciX1 X-Fi. Don't know how to decide on RAM, what to get etc. I think I would need a 750W or higher PSU, I thought about Antec, but I am open to ideas on that end.

    A codec pack might be interrupting the conversion, you might be able to tell using GraphEdit or GraphStudio

    I use Win7Codecs from Shark and I posted this over his forums. I posted at shagrath's place too. He recently fixed lots of issues I'd been having with r400, I'd hope he would include WTV. I found a WTV converter but it deleted my shows before it completely converted them. I was p***ed. I mean even if there is a codec issue with this, I am not sure how I'd be able to fix the stuff...

    WTV Files

    Folks, Win7 records TV shows in this WTV format and has a built-in tool to convert them to dvr-ms format. I use PS3 Media Server and it doesn't recognize WTV yet so I have to convert. The problem is, WTV Converter that comes with Win7 starts the conversion process and then dies off after converting like 5-6 minutes of the show. How can I diagnose this problem? Would a codec pack cause this? Better yet, is there an alternative converter for WTV into whatever?

    I can't find what the full path is that this folder is shortening. It would appear to be a legit path. Can you post the full path?

    You mean this folder? "C:\PROGRA~2\MIF5BA~1\Office14\URLREDIR.DLL" ??

    I can't find the folder myself, there is no MIF5BA~1 in either x86 or x64 folders.. I am searching for URLREDIR.DLL right now.

    This line looks suspect:

    I know it says Office14, but note your other office14 paths are in the correct folders, not this MIF5BA~1.

    That line is weird.

    Have you cleaned this line? if so still happens?

    I have the Office 2010 Beta, I wonder if it is related. However since I ran the Anti-Malware kit (PC Cleanup) I haven't had the redirect problem. Should I still consider deleting this line?

    Please download my Anti-Malware Toolkit and get the package that matches your OS. Then follow the directions in the PC Cleanup guide. After that, please post a HijackThis log.

    Folks, I decided to give Yahoo! Search a shot as an alternative to Google I have been using, but there is something really bothersome, I am wondering if it is Y! causing this or it is my system, browser, etc?

    When I type a search in Yahoo, for example "how to edit sendto menu pcmag", it pulls up results, since I am looking for what PCMag had to say about it, I add a pcmag keyword, the link I want to see is listed in the first place, but sometimes, not everytime, when I click on this link, I end up in a totally unrelated advertisement website. It doesn't happen with Google. Just a few minutes ago, I was doing another search about Windows 7's media center, I clicked on of the search results and I ended up in this VLC media player advertisement. At first you don't notice, you skim through the page and once you can't find the information you are looking for, usually you wake up within a second, you go back, click the link again and this time the result displays correctly.

    Sony BWU-100A is their first product, they tend to mess up with the first product and then straighten it out.
    That's very true indeed, and to straighten out the problems will take months; Sony simply doesn't make their drives them selves, this is why I recommend to stay away from Sony as far as you can get. I sell LiteON and LGE drives here, both brands work very well but I've never used them to burn off a blu-ray disk so I can't say much about that.

    By the way, the 945 chipset needs a PCI-E 16x video card, something like the ATI HD4350 (or above), to get blu-ray displayed well, the onboard GMA 950 just doesn't cut it.

    Same thing happened with their GPS. When the first NV-U70 came out, I bought it and worked fine until the internal solid state disk got so defragmented, the device took minutes to even plot a route. Then I got their last of the series NV-U94T, it is better than most out there, I love it.

    I think I am going to hold off on this whole blu-ray thing for now. I have a 8800GT which Cyberlink Advisor sees enough for the blu-ray, though generally speaking in my computer, the problem is the mobo, you can't go any further if your mobo is made in 2005, has limitations, and it's showing its age. I liked Sony's RC series, but Micro ATX by Intel is never good.

    I just saw EVGA came with an amazing Micro ATX mobo, SLI capable with 6 SATA ports. I am now considering to upgrade the whole thing.

    In Win7 when I have 5.9 WEI for everything my processor (PentiumD) score is 4.6... it's showing its age.

    Sony BWU-100A is their first product, they tend to mess up with the first product and then straighten it out. I know I use their GPS devices, TVs, Walkmans, Home Theater audio, computer displays, laptops etc etc. I will pass on that.

    I need to get a RAID card that supports optical drives or I need to find an external Blu-Ray drive and replace my broken DVD burner with another IDE DVD burner. Sony Optiarc is as cheap as 25 bucks right now for IDE.

    Stick with the PATA/IDE drives, no need to change, you will also need some extra SATA power connectors. You will save a PCI-E slot, teh extra SATA power connects and teh cost of the PCI-E SATA card ;).

    Surely I can do that but there are NO IDE Blu-ray drives in the market... Or are there?

    do you have a pcie x1 slot? or pci slot?

    you can have two raid controllers in one system.

    if you are willing to pay for a decent raid card then go for it.

    what is your current motherboard?

    Oh sorry it is a PCIe X1 slot.

    Here is the mobo, it is a OEM Intel manufactured for Sony I guess, there is no support available for it.

    I can have two RAID controllers, that is good, any suggestions on a decent card and would it support a BD reader and a DVD burner both SATA? I am opting to go with Sony Optiarc's models...

    Folks, I have a mobo that has an Intel RAID Controller and 4 internal SATA ports. It is a Sony VGC-RC210G Computer which I modded a little since 2006 purchase. Not sure what type of SATA these ports are, as in SATA I or II. My 2 optical drives are IDE. I would like to replace these drives (Sony's OEM Pioneer burner is broke, doesn't burn anymore) with SATA drives but all my internal SATA ports are taken, I have 4 HDDs. Also I have an external HDD that has an eSATA port.

    I went on Newegg and looked at some "SATA cards" as I have 1 PCIx1 port available. I was disappointed not being able to find a quality card. These cards I found on Newegg did not have many ports, or they didn't support "optical drives" per user reviews. There was one that had 4 internal and 2 external ports supported either or, you could not connect internal and external sources at the same time. That one didn't do optical either.

    What I am trying to do is to connect two new SATA optical drives (one Blu-ray) and my external Seagate HDD through one SATA card.

    What are my options? Should I get a RAID Controller and transfer the internal HDDs to the add-on RAID and connect Optical Drives to the built-in SATA ports? Would that work? Can you have 2 RAID controllers in one system? Please ask if I skipped any other information.
