  1. Hello shahed26,

I have the same error than terrorix with kstvtune.ax and ksxbar.ax by using your manual method. I'm using Win2k8 datacenter X86 on a Dell Latitude C510/C610. What do you advice to me ? Your recently modified automatic method ?

An idea please. My hardware TV tuner : PCTV DVB-T stick solo and PCTV Dual DVB-t Diversity Stick.

Other question : a pack codec like K-Lite codec is really necessary or optional ?

    Thanks for your patience.

    valorisa

try my new recently modified installers. the errors that you and terrorix had with kstvtune.ax and ksxbar.ax are fixed. these errors were caused by a few "mui" files missing that must be present in the source folder.

just try the new installer and it should work this time.

btw make sure your read the instructions before installing found inside the "bdaforserver"

edit: codec pack is optional. but remember server has no mpeg2 codecs or anything, so viewing live tv picture will require you to install one later. anyways thats a optional so its fine without a codec pack

  2. If anything I hope windows 7 uses MORE ram

    Thats mean

I would like Windows 7 to run well on my computer without having to buy more ram.

lol.. :P ram are so cheap nowdays, even i want windows 7 to use more ram as this will really push people to buy more ram and software developers to really adopt and write x64 applications and take full advantage of x64 cpu's, and ofcourse the main benefit of x64 cpu, 4gb ram and more

  3. This guide does not help to me :o

Does anyone gets bda working on 64 bit windows server 2008?

    I do this steps:

    1. clean install of windows server 2008 x64

    2. install all drivers of my motherboard, vga drivers

    3. install tv card drivers (WinFast DTV 2000H) x64

    4. use your bda install batch

After restart i got some errors as above:

    kstvtune.ax

    ksxbar.ax

I give up trying to get working BDA on x64 windows server 2008.

x64 support added, and made corrections to x86 installer and added a few more missing filters..

  4. no actually i think it works only for enterprise editions (that does not need activation).

when i do it and run the setup.exe i still get a window to click install.

is there a switch to make it COMPLETELY silent? or at least show the window but no need to click anything

run "setup.exe /admin" without the qutoes

enter your details there, and save the file, eg office.msp

    now finally run

    setup.exe /adminfile office.msp

this will use your current saved msp file that you made by running "setup.exe /admin and install it silent

  5. TranceEnergy calm down your going a bit too deep..lol. :P

anyways am sure Microsoft did put this multimedia class scheduler for a reason on vista, and obviously nuhi has more experience than any of us here discussing this. Nuhi has a point for making this extreme, its for overall safety for people who MIGHT experience problems by removing this component.

if its all good and working after removing this component then you go ahead.

multimedia class scheduler is labeled extreme, because am sure nuhi wants people to use vlite with confident knowing it wont mess things up after using vlite.

  6. Just for your information, not everyone uses vLite so vista run faster.... i use vLite because i don't like having things i don't need, i hate junk. I got a Quad-Core n 4TB of hdd space, full vista runs fine but i just really hate junk. So please don't be as hostile.

same here, i hate junk stuffs filled up in vista iso. my system spec is very similar to yours, and have no problem on a normal vista install. but i prefer removing junk stuffs from vista x64 with vlite. thanks to NUHI for his awesome vlite. seriously because of vlite vista is good or else its just a junk OS with sluggish performance.

btw i am migrating to server 2008 x64 from vista. had enough of vista sp1 problems eg. overall system performance, specially file copy issue still after sp1, not fully stable and so on...

server 2k8 with Multimedia schedular removed did the trick for me when copying files, and is much faster and stable compare to vista

this is a great topic (thanks to you LegoLiam), and it helped me speed things up a little by removing Multimedia schedular, which i never did remove in the past because it was an extreme option.

  7. Is vLite fully compatible / does it work with the ISO of Vista that has SP1 in it already? I have access to this image (as do most of you I'm guessing) as a Technet subscriber. I'd like to use vLite with this ISO so I can remove things I don't need.

Yes its fully compatible, and it works great with vista sp1 ISO

  8.

why the ewindows updates are from this site?

    i never sawa this site

    wwwbaytest1.microsoft.com

(a alternate fake chinese site ^^ altered by dns proxy)

if you update from this site you get loads of spyware and nukeware and not real critical updates

save comp and dont slipstream or use nlite.

i guess your pc already had a spyware or you downloaded nlite from a dodgy chinese website that had a spyware attached to the nlite setup file. DONT accuse nuhi's EXTREME hard work. because of nuhi microsoft OS's are wonderful. if there was no nlite or vlite, then xp or vista would have been a spyware itself. :realmad:

  9. i have removed it and it doesn't affect my music whatever and there is also a performance increase when copying files (not using onboard) so i am just wondering if MCS is just needed for onboard. Thanks.

how did you test your file copying performance increase? does it really speed up file copying? does it improve performance overall of systems..

  10. ok guys here are my results. removed "Multimedia Class Scheduler" from server 2008 x64 dvd iso with vlite v1.6 final. the outcome was no problem with audio at all. video clips played normal, live tv (tv tuner card) also played live videos without and problems.

anyways, seriously what are the benefits or removing this? will this affect any games if i was to play games on server 2008? had no time to test a game with "Multimedia Class Scheduler" removed. but hopefully it should be fine.

  11. Just have a theory... Because i have removed it and it doesn't affect my music whatever and there is also a performance increase when copying files (not using onboard) so i am just wondering if MCS is just needed for onboard. Thanks.

If you DO remove remove Multimedia Class Scheduler, does it affect your music and are you using onboard audio or not.

am on server 2008, i did not remove it, but i did disable the service to see the benefits, but the outcome was my creative (x-fi extreme music) sound service was also disabled automatically, so i enabled it again.

  12. Does the add feature things still works even when you have get rid of all that?

Is v1.1.6 Final better optimized for Server 2008?

Because the last time I tried to tweak my Server 2008 installation (and I didn't really remove that much) I broke the entire Add Feature thing, it didn't work at all..

vlite 1.6 final is not specially optimized for server 2008, but it works great (THANKS TO GENIUS NUHI). removing components will break add features. i dont recommend removing components as server is not filled up with bloatware like vista and all components are usefull for server use, even if you want it as just workstation removing will break add features.

am sure nuhi will make this more clearer on "description window" in next version of vlite.

  13. Seems that server 2008 is a great os, would be nice if nuhi change his mind and worked with it. especially when vista has too many issues still not resolved.

Are you still able to turn aero on?

yes i agree, vista sp1 still has many issues and not reliable at all, and server is very fast and reliable compare to vista even games run faster on server. you can turn aero on by installing desktop experience from server manager and then activate theme service

  14. Well I dont get any audible ticks or weird noise at all without it. Google this and you will find people reporting that their systems work much better with the service disabled. So I thought, then why not remove it? So i did, obviously, and voila! Instant Profit!

I like Instant Profit, so I'll have to try it out myself B)

same here, will remove it for instant profit! lol. only if i dont get no audio clicks or pops, but if i do then will let you know
