Older versions of nero use to have a problem like this with this drive. Updating nero sorted it. Could try updating firmware.

If you have nVidia - xFire has been known to cause some unrecoverable directx errors. If you have it installed try disabling it.

Make sure that you have the latest drivers for your graphics card, sound card and motherboard (although sometimes downgrading graphics drivers might also help). Make sure all unnecessary background tasks have been closed. Try setting the hardware acceleration for your sound card to Basic acceleration. Try downloading DirectX from the Microsoft site and reinstalling it.

Cause
Some MSI packages may not be properly removed from Add or Remove Programs. Therefore, remnants of corrupted Windows Installer installations still exist and subsequently prevent the proper installation of a product.
Resolution
Use the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. This tool can be used for any MSI program that fails to install or uninstall properly from Add or Remove Programs.

I personally would like to see it removed altogether.

Don't tell me to add DriverSigning=Ignore or something like that
i wont say add but why dont you check that line. Maybe a spelling mistake or an extra character there that shouldn't be such as ;
as per the previous poster,my2001, i believe the question was. Why was device manager asking him about driver signing

Hi
I found your answer.
The file you need to open is called imageres.dll and this is located in \windows\system32.
