The only thing you will miss if you skip SP2 is the ability to skip the product key during installation...
Thx Kel!
Do you know the exactly reason for this behaviour?
XP-SP3 by MSDN is able to be installed wihout key, isn`t it?

Is there a trick to get the directlinks that are needed to create a .ulz?
In my case I`d like to create a list for Office 2003 German (after SP3).
I´m able to install a fresh Office 2003 SP3 without any updates,
visit WU and download every single hotfix and grab the link
with "Download Helper (Firefox-Extension). But that`s very timeconsuming.
Another ideas?

An identical image - "without Key for XP Home" - isn´t the right way
to deliver preinstalled PCs for resale, I think.
Look at this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sysprep

and never for HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT (all users)
Just to make sure:
"HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT" is the key for all new created users,
not for "all users", when they have logged on and got their own profile.
"HKCU" is every time created based on ".DEFAULT".
Regtweaks in ".DEFAULT" have no effect to the logged on users.

There are reported bugs in the latest Nvidia-Driver.
Just today I wrote a letter to Nvidia-Support to fix some lines in the .inf-file.
The installation of the Controlcenter either fails at T-13 -
when you`re logged on, it installs properly.
Look this thread: http://www.msfn.org/board/nvidia-forceware...p;hl=beatmaster

So I choose "Configure network manually", then "Finish".
If you do so, you should get a screen where to fill in the SSID (broadcasted name of the network)
and the key (maybe WEP, WPA, WP2). You wrote just "Finish" - without these formfills?

Onto USB? You should install from USB onto Harddrive.

How could we tell you if we don`t know what PC you own?
With your posted information I found this:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product...ct=3548300&
Is that your PC?

If you read through "Window7" and "vLite" forums, you`ll find
a lot of threads with same question and some projects creating such a tool.

Because of this config would only fit to your own PC,
why don`t you just start WPI on HDD by just 1 click manually?

Can you still logon as Administrator (logoff/change user)?
If you do so, can you access the other userprofiles-folders in Documents...?

Another question: Why do you want to copy these files to HDD?
It is possible to install from CD without copying.

You`re might looking for something like "Left Handed Cursors".

- .net 1.1, is this essential for XP to have ? (i know 2.0 is totaly different, but 1.1 was their starting point)
The .NET nLite would remove would`t be installed automaticly.
It only an extra folder containig that very, very old .Net1-Setup. > to remove
- and here comes one regarding registry, i have noticed that some registry entries are onlyacceptable for HKEY_CURRENT_USER, and never for HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT (all users)
(example attached, hide_addressbar.reg), is there any way to force this upon system ?
I don`t think it`s like that. Some reg-entries are executed after logon by "nlite.inf",
which execution is written to registry in "cmdlines.txt". I think "nlite.inf" is executed
for every new user that logs on that system.

I have copied the i386 from the SP2 CD into C:\Setup\i386.
I have copied the i386 from the SP3 update EXE into C:\Setup\SP\i386.
What is that good for?
What are looking for?
What do you want to do?

He didn't ask for anything, it looked more like a rant.
I don`t think so - look at the title and discription.

When SP3 first came out I slipstreamed my XP cd so that it would install automaticaly.
So you did more than just SP-Slipstreaming.
As Johnhc mentioned: Only slip SP3 into your original XPCD and use
the new created XPSP3CD as fresh source for further working.

How did you copy the source onto HDD? Manually or with nLite?
Are you sure every file was copied, even the hidden ones?
My XPCD always contain a "boot.bin" and a "bootfont.bin" in root.

Microsoft is pretty harsh in it's dealings with copyright violations, so I'd steer clear to be safe.
Well, that`s the point. I will not allow to re-destribute it.
THX @ All for your advices and taking time.

Give Unlocker a try: http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/

I don`t have a real solution for that.
But I know some websites change just the foldername, not the filename.
Example: ftp://root/2009.10.10/myfile.exe
Next day: ftp://root/2009.10.11/myfile.exe

Kel, thanks for your fast reply, I think you`re right.

Installing Win xp on sata drive
in Windows XP
Posted
You can repair this with EasyBCD - no need to re-install XP & Win7 in the right order.
If you can boot into XP, then install EasyBCD and repair the Win7-Bootloader
and set everything to the right settings/partitions - and feel fine with your Dualboot-System.
