have WAIK installed
Create ISO file
We open Start\Program Files\Microsoft Windows AIK\Windows PE Tools Command Prompt and insert
cd..
now we change to PETools directory typing
cd PETools
If we want to create an iso file of 32 bit Vista, we type:
oscdimg -n -m -b"%Programfiles%\Windows AIK\Tools\PETools\x86\boot\etfsboot.com" D:\VistaWork\DVD D:\VistaWork\ISO\Vistax86.iso
If we want to create an iso file of 64 bit Vista, we type:
oscdimg -n -m -b"%Programfiles%\Windows AIK\Tools\PETools\amd64\boot\etfsboot.com" D:\VistaWork\DVD D:\VistaWork\ISO\Vista64.iso

2/ Boot.wim sources/spwizimg-image 517
3/ Insall.wim windows/system32/spwizimg-image 517
4/ Insall.wim windows/system32/oobe/ image-msoobe
5/ Insall.wim windows/system32/oobe/OOBEResources RC Data OOBE_BAKGROUND_0 & OOBE_BAKGROUND_LARGE_0

do all the images have to be the same size as the ones being replaced?
yes they do also you have to name them the same,
eg if it says bitmap-157 you name your new image bitmap-157

Question 2.
How can I have a default background when you install the OS, like a custom background on install?
Do you mean on the desktop ?
if this is so you have to mount your install.wim
mount\windows\web\wallpaper
change the default images 24 & 36 make sure that they are in jpeg format and the correct size.
Image 24=1920x1440
Image 36=1920x1200

Please help me.!!! i really wants to change the set up screen mate......i changed the images in spwizimg.dll which are present in support, sources, Install.wim----windows/system32 and even i changed spwizimg.dll.mui files.....in Boot.wim----windows/system32....i cant find the file.......no such file is present inside boot.wim.......Even after changing these files still i'm getting the default background......anyone please i need your help guys......god bless you
Have you changed the winpe image in the boot.wim
also have you changed the files inside the oobe folder inside the install.wim ? Mount\Windows\System32\oobe

To modify the background image you have to edit the spwizimg.dll file this file is in four different places.
They are at the root of your disk in boot.wim & install.wim
1.@ the root of your disk is Support\migwiz\spwizimg.dll
2.@ the root of your disk is\sources\spwizimg.dll
3. install.wim-mount\windows\system32\spwizimg.dll
4. boot.wim - mount\sources\spwizimg.dll
As is said before to edit the windows edition name this can be found @ Mount\Windows\Branding\Basebrd\en-US\basebrd.dll.mui

To change edition name you have to edit the basebrd.dll this can be found in the install.wim
You have to mount your wim file first.
Mount\Windows\Branding\Basebrd\en-US\basebrd.dll.mui
Did you edit the files in the .wim files ?
