  1. :} I think I have tried everything on the forums but I must be doing something wrong. It works great for the Administrator account but when I create a new user its not there.

I made the task bar and quick launch just like I want it.

I exported it and put it in my regtweaks.reg file as:

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams\Desktop] “Taskbar” and “TaskbarWinXP”

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams\Desktop] “Taskbar” and “TaskbarWinXP”

    I created LOAD-CD\SETUP\XP\Professional\$OEM$\$Docs\Default User\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\(and all my links)

Everything loads great with RunOnceEx.cmd. When I create a new user I have to add checks to Show Quick Launch and Auto-hide taskbar but at least all the icons are there.

My head is about to explode and I’m not too good with scripts. So please be easy on me.

    Thanks in advance :hello:

  2. fatman01, a problem I find sometimes happens in communicating on technical boards is when people asks for a solution providing themselves HOW the solution (which they cannot find by themselves) should be, thus discarding any other solution proposed without bothering to evaluate it.

Should you have cared to check the link I posted, you would have seen what actually the program can do.

    Basically it does:

    1) Take an image

    2) Make a copy of it saving it to %Wystemdir%\Mywallpaper.bmp, superimposing to it the data specified in it's .INI file

    3) Set this image as wallpaper

between other things, it has a %CURRENT% variable, so that it can perform the above on the image CURRENTLY set as wallpaper.

You can just instruct the users to run it when they change their wallpaper or set it to AUTORUN, and at next reboot the text will be superimposed on the user chosen image, rather obviously, being the text of a "static" nature re-superimposing the same text on the image doesn't cause any problem.

The also FREEWARE BGinfo suggested by FAT64

    http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysintern...ous/BgInfo.mspx

uses a similar approach, with even more features.

Maybe not the solution you wanted, but still better than nothing. ;)

There are of course other solutions, you can use another small "autorun" program to draw a "transparent" window with the text, using a program like this :

    SAMURIZE:

    http://www.samurize.com/

    http://lifehacker.com/software/plain-text/...ktop-213280.php

but as i see it, it seems like a "long shot" for some small, simple "static" text.

There may be more similar simple programs, I guess that if you google a bit you should be able to find one.

:blushing: jaclaz, thanks for your reply. :hello: I haven’t had time to go forward with the information you provided. However, I can tell you are on the same track with what I need to do. I will play with it and look forward to getting the great information from you and everyone else on this forum. :thumbup

  3. Hmm, I may be wrong, but don't think it is possible.

The "Windows Version on Desktop Information" it's a "Registry trick":

    http://www.pctools.com/guides/registry/detail/539/

that enables the printing on the desktop of part of the contents of ANOTHER Registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

Changing values in the latter is NOT suggested, as it might create incompatibilities with programs that check current version and expect to find "good" data in there.

Since your information is "static" why you don't simply edit the background image superimposing the text in a "paint" program?

Or use a "wallpaper" program, this FREEWARE one should be just what you need:

:hello: I thought about that but everyone changes there background. That’s why I was looking for something like Show Windows Version on Desktop Information.

  4. Y  es you are correct; the reason I ask for it this way is because NOD32 wouldn’t load my confg file at T-12 automatically without asking for more info. But if I loaded it after a complete install it would, and it would automatically start the update download. I would like to install it with a RunOnceEx command but I can’t seem to get it to work.

Thanks again for the info :thumbup

  5. Path: AIO-DVD\SETUP\XP\Professional\$OEM$\$1\Nod32\install.bat

    Shortcut Name: NOD32 Install

Info Tip: Install this on first boot

    how i do it

with WINRAR [you must have winrar installed for this way] :

    1. create the shorcut on desktop named NOD32 Install

    for your AIO-DVD\SETUP\XP\Professional\$OEM$\$1\Nod32\install.bat

    2. copy this shortcut in AIO-DVD\SETUP\XP\Professional\$OEM$\$1\Nod32\ folder [needed part]

    3. right click the shortcut placed in AIO-DVD\SETUP\XP\Professional\$OEM$\$1\Nod32\ folder

    choose add to archive

    4. check create sfx archive and create solid archive and compression method=best

name the archive what you want, but remember is an .exe now . i will say here installnod32.exe

    5. go to tab files

on files to add, delete [DEL] the file there [will be install.bat not the shortcut to install.bat]

click append... and choose your shortcut .

    press ok.

now you will have a SFX rar archive [an exe file] who contain your shortcut.

    6. during your XP install place this SFX on desktop [there are tens methods for that]

    7. when you will execute the installnod32.exe , will extract on the desktop your shortcut.n

if you want to do this silent [without asking you]

before press ok , in winrar , go to comment tab and

write in enter a comment manually window

    Silent=1
    Overwrite=1

if you want to run automatically [when you execute your installnod32.exe] the shortcut

    this means execute your AIO-DVD\SETUP\XP\Professional\$OEM$\$1\Nod32\install.bat

    add there in comment tab

    Setup="NOD32 Install.lnk"

or maybe i do not understand what you want ?

The part about hot to have this icon in Administrators and\or all users Desktop after the unattedd install is what I’m missing?
