    thise are windows problems NOT startisback issues you need to go to tenforums.

    How exactly is this a windows problem? It is StartIsBack's settings page that will not load. (The link in the start menu is named Properties). I cannot change any of StartIsBacks settings. The "Windows Settings" page loads fine.

  2. Hello
    Just had to do a complete reinstall of Windows 10. Now after all updates and reinstalling StartIsBack I cannot get the Properties page to open. If I click on Properties the "How do you want to open this file" dialog opens. If I select notepad from the list I get the following;

    2017:01:29 12:34:48:604 Could not recognize operation: C!

    2017:01:29 12:34:48:604 DifxFrontend failed!

    I have the latest version of StartIsBack ++. I have tried reinstalling. Tried uninstalling and then reinstalling. Tried rebooting. Windows version is 1607 Pro N.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards

    Phil

  3. Hello Neo

    Thanks for the reply but I am not using custom themes. This happens if I try to change from the default blue theme to classic. If I use the

    [Shell]
    DefaultThemesOff = Yes

    Then the classic theme is displayed but I cannot change it at all without the error appearing. This includes changing desktop color, screensaver etc.

    Also due to an incompatibility issue with one of the programs I use I cannot upgrade to SP2 and am stuck using SP1. If I install from the original XP install disk and then patch to SP1 then the themes work fine.

  4. Hello All

    Does anyone know if it is possible to disable certain hardware items with the registry or some other method that can be run during an unattended install? I am trying to disable the "Beep" sound that is played when an error occurs within windows. The only way to completely disable the sound is to go to device manager and select "Show hidden hardware" and then disable the Beep. Is there a registry setting that will achieve the same thing?

  5. Hello All

    If after completing an unattended install of windows XP pro I try to change themes I get an "Error loading theme. The theme could not load. Unspecified error" message. I am sure it has something to do with either the unattend setup or the registry entries that I change during installation. Can anyone see in the following text what could be causing this issue?

  6. Hello All

    I have created a bootable CD with slipstreamed XP SP1 and Adaptec SATA drivers. The setup works and lets me complete the install of windows but on the first boot windows freezes about half way through the startup screen. If I restart the computer and select Safe mode it starts to list the drivers and gets to the mup.sys driver and freezes. If I do an attended install of windows and manually add the SATA drivers then windows installs and boots up fine and after adding in SP1 it still works fine. I cannot use SP2 as a graphics program I use will not run correctly with SP2 installed.

    I don't know if it is the SATA drivers, the slipstreamed SP1 or something in the unattended install that is causing the problem. If the configuration files are needed then please let me know and I will post them. If the install program will allow the SATA drive to be used for an install wouldn't that mean the SATA drivers have been loaded in correctly?

    Regards

    Phil
