The 7z sfx should be directed to extract (cache) the installation files to %programdata%\Adobe and not deleted. This will help with user rights access issues / self repair of MSI installations / svcpack compatibility shark

my two cents worth ... good move mickmack. In my experience svcpack compatibility for MSI based installers is achieved by caching the install files before installation and not having them removed by the sfx method of repakaging/re-distribution. shark

IMO form filling is a priorty, it should stay. EDIT1: in todays world of terabyte drives etc etc, size does not matter so much. The Lite'ening of this product has more to do with RogerDB's sentiments posted HERE. There are few people with actual concerns of hdd space. MANY people are concerned about background processes running without any way of stopping them. Please keep this in mind when trying to make the product as small (in bytes) as possible. EDIT2: I have read the comments on the internet by small minds comparing 20 MB to 25 MB etc etc Ignore these people. This Lite product isnt for them. They have no idea whats running in the background, and never will. Those with real knowledge seek this product for the reasons posted above in EDIT1 shark

It is a new feature aspect of 9.1 that is why my version doesn't have it.shark

3D is one of the removed components. You will need to create your own Lite version using the tutorial or install the full version. shark

comparing the size of the MSI from one version to the next is pointless. My original tutorial was complete. It had all the steps taken to create a Lite version. I am quite satisfied that XhmikosR has successfully created a 9.1 Lite version worthy of re-distribution. I will private message contact information to XhmikosR so that MajorGeeks can begin public re-distribution. shark

TAKE NOTICE Once there is a consensus by the msfn community that a viable 9.1 Lite (english) version is worthy of public re-distribution, MajorGeeks.com will re-distribute it as a replacement to my previous work giving the new author full credit. You are probably aware, this is a high profile release and extremely sought after. I am in no hurry to authorize MajorGeeks to take up this release. Since I am the developer on the Win7codecs . . . I have to denounce those promoting thier favorite codec packs (cccp and klite) What exactly do you consider compatible? The fact that it didnt crash upon installation? I challenge you: On a clean installation of Windows 7, no codecs installed - test M2TS playback - works nice huh Install your favorite codec pack, uninstall that codec pack test M2TS again Now go ask your favorite codecpack developers how do you get M2TS working again after removing thier pack. The main reason I bring this up is that people like to try things. They try these codecpacks. They try my codec pack and complain to me that M2TS doesnt work. I have to inform them that the other codecpacks destroyed thier system and installing my codecs wont fix that destruction. To the best of my knowledge you have to format and clean install to get Windows 7 M2TS native support working again. This isnt so much directed at cccp because they havent claimed thier pack was Win7 compatible but Klite has claimed it was compatible since version 4.5.3 .. 17 revisions ago! shark

In my experience random reboots are often a hardware issue. My 1st guess is overclocking, poor BIOS settings, RAM settings to high (try default settings until you solve the issue) 2nd guess, improper cpu cooling/heatsink plugged and rarely, PCI card positioning, relocating the cards sometimes fixes it. shark

+1upgrades suck. period. They are far from efficient. Doesnt matter if the installer is MSI, Inno, whatever. I have tracked many issues to an 'upgrade scenario', They dont remove files and Registry Keys properly. This attitude is for all software, not just operating systems. Uninstall previous versions - Install 'clean' programs - you will get what the developer meant you to get. shark

to playback DVD's all that is required is CLVSD.AX I dont know about the file from version9, I havent tested it If you take the file from version8, you may also need to install some runtimes to get it to register. Take the file from version7 and all will be fine. you may also consider the MSFN XP codec pack in the sticky's above this topic area. It includes the dvd decoder file and is quite a minimalistic package. shark

Just to inform others - I have stopped producing Lite versions of this product. MSFN is loaded with capable people. I have posted a basic tutorial in this thread and anyone is welcomed to pick it up where I left off. I just do not have the time to continue it myself. shark

I'm a dialup user. In build 7000, IE8 is so slow I no longer try to use the internet with Windows 7. I am use to waiting for things to load, but this is ridiculous. by the way, I clear my cache often, it isnt affecting my judgement here. My PC multiboots 4 different OS so I boot up Vista If I need to go on the net. shark

interesting. i tried the combined community codec pack and when i tried to play mkv, the system would blue screen. The Win7codecs release by me. The Win7codecs package which I have created does not change or interfere with what Microsoft has going on concerning native codec support in Windows Media Player 12 and Media Center. DXVA accelerated H264 playback is provided by the codec package for all other capable players. sorry for this shameless plug. shark

This is not nessasarily the opinion of MSFN.org I have reviewed the Mozillazine forum comments. I personally state, I do not have issue with this redistribution/repackaging of freely available wares. I know it breaks several eula's concerning redistribution/repackaging... but that statement applies to more than 95% of all 'repacks' found here on MSFN. To those messging me to take down this release, i won't do it unless it includes payware. shark
