  1. Can someone please report him to his ISP he shouldn't be allowed to have an internet connection at all.
  2. I hate to break it to you but programming in .NET Framework 2 for Windows 98 is a bad idea. I'll pass for now.
  3. One was already made for Windows Lupus Project in 2007: Here is the official thread: http://www.winprj.net/board/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=41
  4. I meant versatile as in handling ICO files better than Daedalus (which leaves me with 24-bit and sort of defeats the purpose). ("32-bit icons don't seem to get extracted from ICO files, just EXEs and DLLs (no idea why)") Granted, Daedalus will probably replace RPL2K eventually, assuming development on it is still somewhat active. ("this project has been a closed one for quite some time") So for a bit of reference, maybe the last version of the file itself should be safely kept somewhere on the site? (This is the last refuge I found for it.) Yea, Daedalus will eventually have better handling of the .ico format, and I agree, it's a very significant part of the whole experience. The project is still active, the line "this project has been a closed one for quite some time" actually means that we have been developing it privately, which you can see by looking in the log of changes and the post date, the first version was compiled on 8th of March, while Daedalus was published on 30th of December, so Alex has been trying to fix everything that needs fixing, slowly, and I think that will be the case in the future. The latest version is in the official post, and I am sure that Daedalus will still be avaliable, even if the development stops some day.
  5. Tihiy has no intention of continuing development nor providing further support for this projects, therefore it is pointless for this topic to stay sticky. The only thing Daedalus doesn't provide and RPL2K is BrowseUI.dll patching. I don't see versatility in that really.
  6. There cannot be the difference between RP9 and Win9x in that matter. And just to say, everything is possible, some things are just hard to do.
  7. It's quite visible, doesn't look like default Windows 7 frame. Some might like it though.
  8. I don't wish to be rude, but you should read the official thread on WPC where it says that it can't sometimes load 32-bit icons from pure .ico file.
  9. This, actually the dialog from XP to allow this is a feature in upcoming Windows Lupus Project Alpha 4. You can see a screenshot here: http://www.winprj.net/board/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=42#p3659
  10. That thing you found is our pre-release of vUXTender for x64, so it's for Vista. Please don't try to crash your system.
  11. Here's my creation, based on Luna/Energy/Zune/Royale/Embedded... Windows Strata Theme v1 for LS/US. Many colors composed in one theme, gives just a bit different Windows XP feeling. v2 will probably contain more UberSkin exclusive stuff. DownloaD
  12. The filenames should be same as the ones on Windows 98. Just replace.
  13. Is the header so important? I will put the version from now on. Thank You, for downloading, as I said, I'll add more stuff soon for complete UberSkin experience.
  14. Updated to v2. Most of the bugs fixed. Expect the v3 with UberSkin stuff.
  15. I've ported the famous theme to LS/US... Download Enjoy!
  16. But is it shipped with Windows 95? It's definitely not there when I try to call it using the command line. Windows 95 should have both ipconfig and winipcfg commands. If the ipconfig doesn't work at the command prompt, my guess is either the ipconfig.exe has be deleted or TCP/IP is not correctly installed. If ipconfig doesn't work, I'll be surprised if winipcfg works.
  17. What, is there something else in Windows 95 that does the trick? ipconfig does the trick.
  18. It's some sort of compatibility wizard. Dunno, I think it's not important. You have to connect your CD-ROM with your audio card with that little cable... (500 Posts now...)
  19. Wupdmgr is used for launching he Windows Update thought Internet Explorer but that isn't a Manager in the true meaning of the word, right? Internat can be rewritten to works as the one on XP not as a standalone application as it is now. CDPlayer is not in Windows XP.
  20. winipcfg32 was created for Windows 3.1 because it didn't have a console subsystem. It was left in Windows 95 with no apparent reason. Synchronize - I believe it's tied with SyncUI.dll with is also a Windows Briefcase resource library. Web Folders too. Isn't Direct Cable Connection supposed to be used for connecting two PCs over serial or parallel ports? Netwatcher does what winipcfg32 could in Windows 3.1 Tour98 is one of the things that should be really really light and it isn't. I question the necessity of including stuff like Sound Recorder in Windows on the first place, but since it is there, it can be better. I tried to change the length of recording and it worked. But it can't be custom. Maintenance Wizard - I like it, but it needs to be reorganized. Wupdmgr - This really needs to be updated. I don't know what could be done about this, this is a whole another issue. Anyone with ideas? Drive Space - This one is so stone age. Active Movie - I would keep this one, awergh you told me something about the advantages of playing stuff with this haven't you? Sysedit is clearly just another Windows 3.1 leftover. Nowadays we have MSConfig. Screensavers should be removed for sure. Internat - I don't know if this one can be replaced, but if it's possible then it could be done a lot better. Scheduler is required for Maintenance Wizard to work isn't it? I agree that it's almost standalone, now that you've pointed out the good side of this player, I feel that I've been tricked into using Windows Media Player. Also true. What do you actually install from Setup? Briefcase is clearly unnecessary. Does anyone use this? Microsoft Wallet - Now THIS, is probably THE most unnecessary thing in Windows 98. Personal Web Server - How old is that? Web Publishing Wizard - No go. On the other hand Quickview is a great tool and I saw a tutorial on how to install it on Windows XP and Vista. Why would anyone need those? I think that CDPlayer.exe is the only file you need. Try that, if not, I'll see again.
  21. I know about 98lite. I don't wanna simply remove the components, I wanna hear if there are any that need to be updated or modified, and who uses what, and what for. The point is that Windows 98 is old and that some components are not "fresh" and some are unnecessary today.
