  1. Do it.

Don't give stupid information. Someone is asking for help. Just because the answer is obvious for you doesn't mean you have to be condescending.

Too short to imply condescending, and my post did not include any information.

  2. Yes, it can take a very long time to reinstall Windows and get all of your applications reinstalled and reconfigured. The last time I reinstalled Vista and all of my programs it took me an entire weekend.

Not so. If you prepare ahead of time it can take a few hours.

    1. Get the all the latest drivers then organize them and put them in a folder.

    2. Take your applications you want to install, organize them in a folder.

    3. It helps to have your documents organized in as few folders as possible.

    4. Unattenuated install. Use vLite or nLite.

    5. Copy & paste all the folders in steps 1-3 to a backup location, and then back on the main drive after windows reinstallation.

Staying organized and prepared is the key to doing an easy & painless reinstall.

  3. And hogwash on the "fresh install". Been running my system for three years+ and not a whimper of performance issues and loads of other software installed. You mainly get performance hits when you have too many applications and services running simultaneously (ref. cluberti's comments).

There's a difference between you and the OP. Who knows how much junk his system is littered with. It hasn't been maintained in years.

  4. How do I re-assign drive letters if I haven't created the drive yet?

Please do not use word documents. It is very annoying.

Save your screenshot as a jpeg and upload that.

The drive does not appear to show up at all. You cannot give a drive letter to an invisible drive. Is the drive is visible in the BIOS? Unplug what you don't need to avoid confusion.

  5. No, that's a subdivision modeler.

I'm looking for a parametric modeler so I can change the aspects of a solid. Say for example I have a pipe with a hole in it that pipe 2 connects to. If pipe 2 needs to be larger, I can adjust the hole instead of redrawing everything.

The model is built on parameters. Length, width, diameter... etc. That can be modified after.
