  3. No, 109 is the last one that works on Windows 7. They introduced dll‘s that are only available in Windows 8+, but they also broke compatibility with Windows 8. If you try installing Chromium on Win8/8.1, the browser will start and then immediately close again. However, using —no-sandbox allows you to run the latest Chromium (110.5441) on Windows 8.1. I hope they will not break that one too.

  4. Sorry that I've been lost recently, very occupied . I want to say that when the last v13.5 version of 360EE comes up I will make an edited version of it. I already forgot what was the stuff I did but thankfully I wrote my notes so I can eventually remember. As for the other browsers (just to clarify): - DC Browser needs no more edits, I did the edits I could do (I literally just edited a few binary strings and it turned out I could modify some stuff on the browser and then I decided to release these browsers on MSFN after a few edits to see if people could benefit/like my work) and I don't have anything else I can add to it (the same applies with the 360EE versions on this thread). Maybe someone can expand its functionalities with Assembly knowlegde or something of low level of that kind but I unfortunately don't know anything at all of that area. - The same from DC Browser applies to Mini Browser. Cheers and thanks for using the stuff I published!

  9. https://developer.chrome.com/docs/extensions/mv3/intro/ In short Chromium will be removing webRequest api and replace it with chrome.declarativeNetRequest in next month with Manifest V3 (V2 will be crippled away). This of course is done in name of security because google is worried from following to end user. Now when I said official story I can say my opinion on this. That is total lie and only purpose of that is to limit privacy add-ons like noscript, ublock origin, Umatrix etc from having higher control over your browser. New api replacing it will not allow addons directly read data and will force request trough chromium (source). Also that wont limit addons from stealing your data because malicious addons today wont need to read your browser traffic to steal passwords or or other data. But of course anything can be done with security excuse. And if you think some alternatives like Firefox or Coward I mean Brave will not do it remember that Firefox is funded by Google and it past they killed off XPCOM addons in name of security, forced addon signatures, added hard blocklist for addons and Brave gets paid from Google to use their search engine plus it uses Chromium engine as default, it includes it own spyware, it uses addons still for contect blocking. And some actually good forks like Librewolf and Ungoogled chromium are in uphill battle with mainstream decisions and developers of librewolf has admitted they have problem hand. And UXP based browsers like Palememe or Serpent suffer from compatibility issues with Chromium JS and WASM made pages so those are not so great either for all use. Feels like every day I want get more away from internet, but world forces me to use online services to do basic things because offices are closed or resisted access

  10. I am creating this topic since many, including me, want Windows Update v4 working. It is the only version that remains to be revived, since WUv5 shares the backend of WUv6 and WUv3 uses static inventory. But WUv4 has a complex backend system like WUv5/WUv6 but these are based on ASP.NET (aspx), while WUv4 is based on ASP Classic (asp). And why not upgrade to the WUv5 and WUv6 backend? WUv 4 works with Windows 98/ME, while WUv 5 and WUv6 require at least Windows 2000 with Service Pack 3. Also, WUv4 is mostly expected by Windows 98 users. The only solution but not for long The predecessor of WSUS called SUS, it works but only from Windows 2000 onwards (but in this case SP2) and it only checks for updates until October 2005. And it is somewhat difficult to get it to check for updates. Some problems to solve: - Catalog didn't call getmanifest.asp - Windows 9X didn't work with SUS backend - Results.asp not found This for the moment, with the passage of time there will be peculiarities in the different OS as in each version of IE. For example, updates only appear until such time, custom pages don't work, etc.

  22. That is the Disk Signature in the MBR: In more recent windows a signature collision is detected and the user is warned (and usually the second disk is taken "offline"), on older systems it is changed automatically and silently to a new value, as you cannot have two disks mounted at the same time with the same disk signature, when you remove the original disk, the new disk is not anymore a "clone". Commercial tools to "move/upgrade" systems to new disks have mechanism to avoid this collision, but since you did a straight direct copy the disk signature was duplicated. @D.Draker JFYI, the bootrec /fixmbr will only check and correct the MBR boot code, it won't change or set the Disk Signature, which was needed in this case. jaclaz

  24. Hi guys.. I don't think so (that you're missing something or doing something wrong), mina, I also don't have that entry neither, however, oddly, I do have the following entries: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\360Chrome] "usagestats"=dword:00000000 and... Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\360] [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\360\360se6] [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\360\360se6\Chrome] "ddq"=dword:00000000 On your Version, I don't have the translate either. EDIT: However, I do have those squares above the address bar still and in the tab below and I don't know if its skin related. The skin I'm using, Is: jisu9_chrome.srx

  30. Oh ... haha ... I was imagining you picking up a per-owned cheap guitar or violin and strumming some new cords and making music at your home as I don't recall you posting much about music as your interest. Sometimes when I'm lonely (usually not lonely rather empty, being around other people usually is stressful for me nowadays given everything and politics here) I just shut up and pretend [self preservation] (Pick my battles) and I enjoy my instruments. Well, the ones I didn't pawn myself. Lost many during bad times in life. Hard to explain.

  32. Flash is up to version 34.0.0.277 now, available at the usual GitLab site, https://gitlab.com/cleanflash/installer/-/releases/, or via direct download from https://bluepload.unstable.life/cleanflash3400277installer1.exe. That link is on the GitLab page but provided here for those who don't want to mess with PaleFill. For the record, to access GitLab I'm using PaleFill version 1.22 (which I don't think is the latest, but GitLab still works fine) with Serpent 52. (Actually PaleFill 1.22 works with Serpent 55 also, as long as you modify install.rdf as noted above.)

  34. From MyDigitalLife.net. The original topic can be found here By backporting the generic display driver from Windows 8 build 7963 (a beta which has both x86 and x64 builds), in which it can support both UEFI GOP and Legacy VGA BIOS, the benefits of the generic driver can work in Windows 7 and UEFI class 3 systems that can't support UefiSeven can receive display output. Even if the driver files fail and nothing actually happens, we can backport some display miniport drivers from build 7963 too. What we need is to fix/mod the .inf file. Here are the results with vanilla driver: The .inf fix/mod hasn't been done yet; please discuss here. Then for the internal modding: Original watchdog.sys doesn't work; we need the one from Build 7963, in which we will change the file to link to build 7963's watchdog.sys by renaming it watchdog8.sys and changing the import. Missing import in ntoskrnl.exe found; we must use ntoskrn8.sys (NTOSKRNL_Emu, found here [fork]) to fix this. Before: After: No missing imports found (AFAIK). WIP Files (x86 not verified real imports, also .inf needs to get fixed if it's possible). 35. 7 Fascinating Facts About the Tardigrade, the Only Animal That Can Survive in Space All hail the toughest organism on Earth. BY WILLIAM HERKEWITZ AND DAISY HERNANDEZ PUBLISHED: OCT 21, 2022 Co/Getty Images Tardigrades are one of the most fascinating creatures on Earth—and the moon. In 2019, the Israeli spacecraft Beresheet crashed on the moon, spilling thousands of the dehydrated tardigrades that scientists loaded onto the lander (along with human DNA samples). The tardigrades were in “tun” form, a dormant state where they shrivel up into a ball, expel most of the water in their bodies, and lower their metabolism via cryptobiosis until they enter an environment better suited for sustaining life. They can exist like this for decades. They’re also pretty hardy and can endure even the harshest environments, including subzero temperatures—and, you know, lunar crash landings. 💫 The universe is amazing! Let’s nerd out over it together. We talked to leading researchers to find out what makes these little “water bears” so amazing. Here are our seven favorite facts about tardigrades, according to the latest research. 1) Tardigrades are everywhere. Tardigrades are a class of microscopic animals with eight limbs and strange, alien-like behavior. William Miller, a leading tardigrade researcher at Baker University, says they are remarkably abundant. Hundreds of species “are found across the seven continents; everywhere from the highest mountain to the lowest sea,” he says. “Many species of tardigrades live in water, but on land, you find them almost everywhere there’s moss or lichen.” In 2007, scientists discovered these microscopic critters can survive an extended stay in the cold, irradiated vacuum of outer space. A European team of researchers sent a group of living tardigrades to orbit the earth on the outside of a FOTON-M3 rocket for 10 days. When the water bears returned to Earth, the scientists discovered that 68 percent lived through the ordeal. Although tardigrades are unique in their ability to survive in space, Miller insists there is no reason to believe they evolved for this reason or—as a misleading VICE documentary has implied—that they are of extraterrestrial origin. Rather, the tardigrade’s space-surviving ability is the result of a strange response they’ve evolved to overcome an earthly life-threatening problem: a water shortage. Land-dwelling tardigrades can be found in some of the driest places on Earth. “I’ve collected living tardigrades from under a rock in the Sinai desert, in a part of the desert that hadn't had any record of rain for the previous 25 years,” Miller says. Yet these are technically aquatic creatures, and require a thin layer of water to do pretty much anything, including eating, having sex, or moving around. Without water, they’re about as lively as a beached dolphin. 2) Tardigrades can pause their biological clock.... 3) Tardigrades probably can’t see in color.... 4) Tardigrades can survive the harshest atmospheres.... 5) Even space radiation is no match for tardigrades.... 6) Still, tardigrades aren’t completely invincible. There might be one thing tardigrades are not so well-equipped to handle: high temperatures over a prolonged period of time, per a study published in Scientific Reports in January 2020. The study revealed that this temperature-based Achilles’ heel also extends to when tardigrades are in their protective tun states. Researchers studied Ramazzottius varieornatus, a species of tardigrade, in tun state and noted nearly 50 percent of the tardigrades exposed to 181 degrees Fahrenheit over the course of an hour perished. Active tardigrades—that is, those not in tun state—fared even worse. These temperature experiments show that, given time, most tardigrades can adjust to intense temperature fluctuations: The tardigrades who had an hour to acclimate to intense heat faced higher mortality rates, compared to those who had a full 24 hours. “Tardigrades can survive pressures that are comparable to those created when asteroids strike Earth, so a small crash like this is nothing to them,” Lukasz Kaczmarek, an expert on tardigrades, told The Guardian. So what does this mean for us? If humans could replicate cryptobiosis in the way tardigrades do, we’d live far longer than the average life expectancy. According to Kaczmarek, when a tardigrade enters the tun state, it doesn’t age. It becomes dormant at one month old and can wake up years later and still biologically be the same age. “It may be that we can use this in the future if we plan missions to different planets, because we will need to be young when we get there,” said Kaczmarek. 7) Some tardigrades lay spiked eggs.... 40. there is soluction for that if you have spare linux box or VM to utilise. https://pi-hole.net/ I am using that and it with default lists works great for blocking ads in network level. Sometimes UBO might conflict with that. Also make sure you wont blacklist any CDN you may need because some lists on by default. I agree with this. In my tests on Chromium, Gecko and Goanna based browsers enabling excess amount of blocklists wont block more ads or trackers and only slows down browsing. I only use UBO for cosmetic blocking and Umatrix will handle ads and tracking blocking. Also ublock is helpful to block anything that umatrix is missing for some reason because sometimes you cant block all visual annoyances and ublock works great for it. I only use built in filters and adblock filter list for finland and my custom cosmetic filters on it.

It is in January 2023 that Chrome stops running manifest v2 extensions: https://developer.chrome.com/docs/extensions/mv3/mv2-sunset/ It's not my area of expertise, but one solution is to implement blocking at the DNS level. But in this case, cosmetic filtering would be missing. Raymond Hill writes that he currently has no solution to the noop rule which is currently unworkable. Very useful to start decreasing the filters used in UBO. At the moment in Edge I have: 41406 network filters 37824 cosmetic filters
