  1. I actually found out by myself. I was doing something completely unrelated.

  2. Mounir Idrassi’s English might not be the best: “drop complete support” might mean “completely drop support.” Windows 7 received updates adding SHA-256 support in 2019, but there seem to be many Win7 diehards who avoid Windows updates. I notice that Vista does not exist as far as Idrassi is concerned, but we too could have SHA-256 support by installing Server 2008 updates.

  3. So in order to succesfully bypass iTunes os checks you need to do this: BEFORE YOU BEGIN! I only tried this on Windows 8.1 Fully updated up until september 2021 patches. I have no idea if this is going to work on Windows 7 too. Windows 7 works up until 12.11.3. Later versions require ntdll.dll and dxgi.dll from newer operating systems. Windows 8.0 works up until 12.11.3.17. Later versions do require you to use reshade's dxgi implementation. Download Reshade and rename Reshade64.dll to dxgi.dll. CREDITS TO : K4sum1 from https://eclipse.cx/ Windows 8.1 works without any problem. 1) Download iTunes from apple. 2) Extract the installer 3) Edit the main installer with orca (drop table LaunchCondition) 4) Install iTunes and all of its components 5) Do not launch! - Download this: https://github.com/hejmus/win10verhack/releases/tag/v0.1 6) Put these files in iTunes install folder 7) Open notepad and put this in: withdll.exe /d:win10verhack64.dll iTunes.exe 8) Save it as Launch.bat on your desktop (since iTunes is located in Program files and you would need Admin access) 9) Put launch.bat to the iTunes install folder and open it 10) Done! (Optional, put launch.bat as shortcut on your desktop)

  5. Next version (1.25) of VeraCrypt (https://www.veracrypt.fr/en/Home.html) will only support Windows 8+ Develper's (Mounir Idrassi) explanation: "For Windows, we have no choice but drop complete support for Windows XP and Windows 7 because we cannot renew the SHA-1 certificate that is needed for signing VeraCrypt driver. All public CAs have stopped issuing SHA-1 certificates and drivers signed with SHA-256 will refuse to load on Windows XP and Windows 7 (and in case of system encryption, Windows will not boot at all). Microsoft has its own internal CA so it can issue SHA-1 certificates to itself but third-party developers like us cannot have such certificates."

  6. ... Hopefully the following indispensable Chrome extension https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/get-crx/dijpllakibenlejkbajahncialkbdkjc will continue to work as designed in the "ungoogled" flavours... I use it routinely to manually download and archive .CRX files directly from CWS (not crx4chrome and similar... ), because my experience so far of using various 360EE variants in my Vista laptop has proved that any of my already installed extensions a. may suddenly disappear completely from CWS, for various reasons... b. be updated to a version not working correctly/at all with a specific 360EE version; this is often true for 360EEv11 (Chromium 69 based) and 360EEv12 (Chromium 78 based), but I expect to hit similar issues in the near future even for 360EEv13 (Chromium 86 based), because most Chrome extensions are developed/updated to target current Chrome (v92?) and declared backwards compatibility in CWS is often just a joke... It's too late if I first update an extension but then discover it's broken, because CWS, unlike AMO, doesn't host previous version(s) of an extension... Below is an excerpt of a previous edit (saved in an e-mail notification) of https://msfn.org/board/topic/182993-360-extreme-explorer-arcticfoxie-versions/?tab=comments#comment-1205088 I've been mostly using the Russian RePacks of 360EE variants and while I was always able to add Chrome extensions directly from CWS, never have I observed one automatically update... One can perform a simple test to verify: Browse crx4chrome or similar third party Chrome extension archives, search there for and download the .CRX file of a previous version of an extension extant in CWS (all crx4chrome hosted files were originally retrieved from CWS) ; manually install by dropping the file on the Extensions tab (chrome://extensions/) ... No matter how long you give it (hours, days, etc,), the extension won't be auto-updated to the latest version found inside CWS; often times, this is a blessing in disguise, because, despite CWS saying the opposite, the updated version won't "like" your version of 360EE (being sourced from an older Chromium codebase...). However, in the event you do want to update an installed extension, again this is not straightforward ; visiting the CWS entry for the extension, you're only given a choice to "Remove from Chrome", not "Update Extension"; to "update", you have to actually first "remove", but this means losing all extension custom settings/modifications... Several Chrome extensions offer the choice of backing-up settings/configuration prior to removal (with the option of importing back in a fresh installation), which makes updating them in 360EE somewhat less cumbersome...

  7. Same effect in official "ungoogled-chromium". It restores the "Add to" button but it doesn't actually 'add to', all I got was an error that says extensions cannot be loaded from this page (Official Chrome Web Store). May revisit later but for now I'm sticking with a "regular" and an "ungoogled" version and advanced users will already know how to download and manually install extensions in the "ungoogled" version.

  9. When time permits, I'll be including a "hybrid" version. It will basically be the "ungoogled" version with the NeverDecaf/chromium-web-store extension included. I'm also contemplating a "YouTube" version which will include some extensions that make YouTube a little less "heavy" - unsure at this point (in-process of building an XP x86 SP2).

  10. Warzone is a good example of a game that can run on Windows 7 but isn't allowed to. It isn't even a support issue, it is actively blocked from running. I had played Warzone for quite a bit on Windows 7 and did want to revisit it someday, but now I can't because Activision decided that the game isn't allowed to launch on my OS anymore. I suppose it is fine, there are plenty of older games I haven't played yet, but it is really annoying when a current game or program's update can stop it from launching when it would work perfectly fine.

  11. Thanks for that! That annoying warning banner comes up almost every time I visit my bank's (Chase) web site, and I've long wanted to get rid of it! Clicking "wait" makes it go away for a few seconds, but it usually comes back before the script is finished. You don't actually have to click on "wait;" once their Javascript finishes downloading whatever info I asked for (e.g., checking account transactions), the banner goes away on its own. It's just annoying to have it pop up every time! Edit: Unfortunately, it didn't work! After a restart, the banner no longer comes up; but a dialog box pops up with the same options. There's a "don't show this again" checkbox, but it doesn't work either. However, I believe I discovered the correct pref to get rid of it for good: set dom.max_script_run_time to 0. That seems to have banished the dialog box for good.
