  1. Thank you @mina354 @Dixel @D.Draker Yeah, sometimes breaks are good to reset. Honestly, its been rough, I won't lie. Just dealing with a lot, I guess. Mostly health crap (both physically and mentally). But its been rough for everyone and we all have to do what is best to get by and sometimes the hardest thing to let go is our pride when things feel uncertain are we are pushed beyond our 'breaking point'. I'm getting better at embracing humility. I'm a simply guy and being isolated in a world of confusion and uproar doesn't at all bother me. I can get by with little (always have) and I see nothing wrong with solace. Unfortunately, I allow myself to take that too far and fall hard, which (in turn) makes it so very very hard to get back up. Nuff about my drama :) I'm Grateful to be part of this forum and the passion everyone here puts into their work and postings. Hope everyone is managing as best as can be. I'm feeling: Appreciative

  2. anything 1904x (2004, 20H2 and 21H1) has huge issues with integrity. It runs fine for the first month, then after a while it starts decaying with broken C++ and update histories disappearing. This is because 19041.1 was finalized in December 2019, making all those versions about 2 years old now, with almost 24 cumulative updates available. Avoid 1607. Update system is extremely flawed and its more wasted time than anything. 1507 is possible but no .NET 4.8 so many apps don't work anymore. Same with 1511. I would say 1703, 1709, 1803, 1809, 1903 or 1909 was the period of time where Windows 10 was actually looking somewhat OK.

  5. Well break from everything makes good for human mind. I cannot do it until got holiday from work but when will nobody wont be able reach me. I live next to deep forest and that is my place to get out and reset after workdays and rough days overall. Just trees nothing else and it sures purifies human mind. Today was there picking berries. This is one few forums I like to use my time on. There so big mix of peoples here around world with different preferences but still (for most part) can have civil conversation together here. Everyone on forum add their own part of personality to this board. Also positively surprised see how much younger peoples are here that are interested in technology and older technology apparently. Not all of us are old peoples who has been working with equipments for too long to remember when started. Young peoples are future and professional among them give me some hope about current generations

  6. i mostly meant if can use AMDGPU driver it works great for most part, but AMDGPU only works with new ones for most parts. I was diagnosing one pc with ATI Radeon HD 6800 I think and my way test any system I got is fire up linux on it since got full desktop from pendrive. I had black screen on after grub and loading text and though gpu was broken until did swap to console mode and had warnings. So AMD only partially fixed it recently, but unless got RX series GPU you are SOL. ATI Windows drivers were trash. Omega drivers were half decent to them since they fixed most ATI shortcomings. that compatibility with graphics card and other hw is why I cannot go linux full time. Many claims linux will magically work on older hw which is in reality is not true. I have had issues with older Broadcam wifi cards, intel wifi card flashed led like crazy by default, many times gpu lacks hw accerlation that works on Windows no issues. Maybe if all did is using office programs and browsing web can replace, but I still cannot get my hardware or software run under linux properly.

  7. well mpl licence can technically allow limit access to source code while give access to it for some. Things like that kinda ruin whole idea of having open source project. I always though open source meant anyone can modify and access it freely but was wrong. Impression was mostly given since iceweasel was not killed by mozilla for licence violation, none of system d free distros were not killed by mainstrem distro etc. I really hope current moonchild production owners would leave the project and someone with sense would come instead. I said mozilla will sink first but seems Palemoon will before it. Atleast mozilla wont attack against librewolf or ff45 sse. Mozilla is funded by google so palemoon was only indepent project (custom engine and was able work without mozilla), but developers will kill it themself

  8. Not sure if this is the case for Win7, but I do know that "uptime" in Win10 is easily cheated. In Win10, you can do a full reboot to "reset" the uptime timer, go into Sleep/Standby/Hibernate two minutes later, wake the computer up a YEAR from now, and that uptime will show that YEAR.

  11. My house is almost uninhabitable for a normal human. Last year there were 42 cats confined in the hallway and not enough litterboxes - imagine how it looks and smells like, because I couldn't clean up anything. On top of that there's all the stuff brought in from my aunt's former flat, some didn't even fit and had to leave them outside in the rain, and now they're destroyed. There's no gas, electricity will be cut pretty soon, no connection to the city sewage so no daily showers or doing the laundry once every week, extremely poor heating in the winter... Oh, did I mention the hundreds or thousands of fleas every summer for about three years already, that drive one (that is, me) crazy because none of the available "solutions" on the market works? Or the mosquitos out in the garden, if one would think going out to breathe some fresh air would be a good idea? Who in their right mind would live here? Told you there would be much much more to say for a true and complete understanding of the situation, and that wouldn't help anyway because there is no solution. As for parallel universes and all that stuff, I was mostly joking - although I know about various theories in quantum physics and whatnot - but even it it was true and I got dragged from another universe and swapped with the real me that pertained to this universe, things are as they are, the past - in this timeline - happened as it happened, just like whatever happened to the other me in the other universe is their reality and their past now in their timeline. The future? Dunno, maybe I'll go back "home" and get buried with honors as in my home universe I may have been the president of the Earth Federation.

  13. DrugWash. have you tried bringing in a house guest. There might be some young people starting work who looking for a residence. I might be reading into your last post too much but in case I am not:- There is a scientist's idea of a parallel universe but I bet they are not all in agreeance. If everything was truly backwards - it would be just like forwards and would be a mirror to what we have. If one dies in one universe it is mirrored in the other. Partial backwards as you are implying would not be the same as the the scientific idea I believe. For example walking backwards when your eyes are at the front. The doctor would not have been able to revive you if you were really dead. It depends if you were left disabled and by how much is how grievous you might be, but I can not remember before 3 yrs and you are not mentally impaired nor physically as far as I know. The backwards idea does not compute real well unless you are referring to a twin brought forward from the parallel universe idea. Doppel 2020. I would not think that way, simply put, you did not die. Things may have changed but you have developed very well and have good skills. I like to get answers but sensible ones are not obtainable without enough information or the wrong information. Thinking too much hurts our brains and we need time to repair after.

  14. From what I can see there's nothing more going on than a few eye candy changes. In fact, it looks like just another update to Windows 10 that says 11 in a few key places. Win 11 seems to run even the most complex Windows software developed pre-11 without changes. There's nothing terribly wrong with evolution, and certainly compatibility is nice to have, but calling something a major new version when in fact it's just another set of patches is purely marketing. So we can probably just ignore this new moniker without too much trouble. If it's like e.g., Windows 8 they'll move the needle on the look and feel during the various prerelease builds. In a larger sense, everything I've seen tells me that new updates to post-Windows 7 versions just keep getting slower and slower and more and more complex to do the same things. Remember back in the "old days" when it only took less than 30 processes to support an empty desktop? What are we really getting having 150 of them now? Yeah, I know about the 20 or 30 that were added because services were split up. That still leaves what, 90 more? 90! What do we have that's truly new, even though our computers are capable of executing hundreds of times more code? Are they more autonomous from online servers? Are they able to give us more personal service? Oh, wait, I can now plug in headphones and automatically have the sound output switch to them. Whoop whoop! My needs for computing haven't really changed. I was doing reasonable hands-free teleconferencing going back to the beginning of Skype which released, around the time of Windows Vista? What have we really gotten besides bloat to soak up the billions more available CPU cycles and quadrillions more bytes of data storage? -Noel

  15. it will coz theres simply nothing to innovate on 2D surface frames so you can either have 1-colored bul***** like they had with win 3.1 // 8 // 10 - which (for some reason) all id*** call modern or sort of "3D" (classic) style or anything bitmapped (lets call it XP style) or translucent which came with vista/7 and now is comming to some sort back again tho it looks more like KDE/Deepin to me but meh... but does look really matter that much ? people seemengly only comment on new look, nobody gives a rats arse it is still inherited windows 10 spyware

  16. But doesn't security.csp.enable;false mean that for the sake of just blocking CSP reports, the whole CSP browser feature is being turned off? Having a read of the Content Security Policy (CSP) documentation, I think CSP is something we should keep enabled ; of course, I am not a security authority like yourself , so please share some extra knowledge on this... Kindest regards, keep safe and healthy (Saturday I'll get my first anti-Covid19 jab ) !

  17. That's why you have something called off-site backups. You back up your information and then you store it off-site so in case something does happen to your house or facility, then you can retrieve your backups elsewhere and do a restore. The only time I embrace new technology is when I see a real and practical use for it. Telephones are obviously very practical and as far as I'm concerned, much more useful than this texting nonsense which has in my opinion, degraded the English language to the point where people can't spell words correctly or know the differences between lose or loose, yeah, double O is not "losing weight" but rather "my doorknob is loose and I better tighten it up". Jaclaz is also correct, you don't have complete full control over your data. You might be able to read/write and delete at your own will but so does the hosting provider and the host has even more rights than you do. I don't trust my stuff to the so called cloud either. It's the same as people who use these programs on the cell phones because if you send in a picture of your receipt, then you'll get money back from them and hey, who doesn't want free money just for shopping? But rather it's a very clever and also practical marketing ploy so that data companies don't have to physically collect data from you but rather you're willingly providing it to them and they pay a fraction of the cost as traditional methods. You're doing the hard work for them and then you're served with advertisements because of your purchases. People are so gullible. :) Then again, companies like that take advantage of people who click next, next, next, next, agree? YES!, install. People don't take time to read that stuff and instead just go ahead and go for it. It's really even the same with credit cards. You have protection to an extent but if you get your number stolen, you're taken for a ride and someone, somewhere, has to eat the cost of whatever happens because of it. Traditional currency is completely safe until you lose it (or is it loose? ) or is stolen off you or your home physically. Just because some id*** says it's newer and better doesn't always make it so, it's just marketing to gullible people who believe everything is all in their best interest. Yeah MS, kinda like those beta tests you do and somehow you still managed to code in that awful start screen that nobody liked or wanted.
