  1. If that is on Serpent 52.9.0, on latest build at least, javascript.options.jit_trustedprincipals is not an included pref by default ; I found a mention about it here : but that Bugzilla bug refers to a relatively recent Firefox version; further searches landed me on: https://github.com/arkenfox/user.js/issues/928 which states: new in 75beta but commented out by default //user_pref("javascript.options.jit_trustedprincipals", true); // [FF75+] [HIDDEN PREF] so, in all probability, it is not applicable to St52... If you're just picking up user.js files from the web, please make sure first they are valid for the version of the browser used; and remember, St52 != Fx52 (and, certainly, not later Firefox versions... ) ... Best wishes

  2. @nicolaasjan I tried now, the port 69 is closed. Many thanks. I probably did too many tests yesterday. Or given the late night hour I was very tired. P.S. I made the necessary corrections in my post.

  4. I slightly disagree. I personally don't believe in "pinned" threads (and I've been a forum moderator on other forums). The truly important topics will stay at the top by their very nature of constant discussion and new members signing up to chime in. And when a discussion fades into the distance, it should do just that, fade into the distance instead of being artificially placed at the top. As the moderator, you should be able to see if some of those "ancient" threads have even been READ/VISITED within the last YEAR. And if they haven't, or if the visit count is miniscule, then, well, no-brainer, un-pin them "my two cents" and no skin off my back either way (my Stylus hides content I don't specifically white-list, I manually disable whenever I want to see if there is "new" content to white-list).

  5. Again, thank you @VistaLover for your research. You got it, I picked that up from this user.js on the net. I (just now) toggled it to "False" and then reset it and now its empty Lol. For now, I"ll just reset those 3 to their defaults. This is what is stated in arkenfox. So I will need to read through it better as I've likely many invalid prefs and I am using 52.9.0. Best wishes to you as well

  6. It‘s very simple. I dont know if you use Vista as your main OS or as a VM but you need a machine running Vista SP2 (64 Bit). 1. Make sure you have all the updates installed till EOL (04/2017) - you cannot get them from Windows Update anymore, since WU was shut down on Vista back in August 2020. You need to run a Tool called WindowsPatchLoader 2.0, from where you can downlod all Updates for Vista till 2021/04. Please dont patch your system till that date, it will crash after installing Extended Kernel. Go as far as 04/2017! 2. After downloading all 2010-2017 Updates, download a programm called Dism++, which can apply all these updates to your system. Therefore, you need to go to the Update Management section and press Add, locate the folder where the downloaded updates are and select them all. It may take 20-70 minutes, depending on your PC specs 3. Now visit the Mega website, where the Extended Kernel was uploaded to and download the zip file. 4. Unpack the zip, and run the file vistaextendedkernel as an administrator. It will open a CMD popup, which you only have to press any key for to install. (takes 2 seconds..) 5. After the install finishes, reboot the PC/VM 6. Now you have the Extended Kernel!! Note: If you apply any further Security patch, the Kernel32.dll file will automatically be replaced again, with the original, unmodified Vista one * Exception: You can install Internet Explorer 9 patches, they wont affect the Kernel. You can Patch IE9 till 01/2020 without any trouble

  7. Installing (or reinstalling) IE6 should fix this, someone else had this issue before: http://www.techtalk.cc/viewtopic.php?p=18608#p18608

  8. Thankfully your browser doesn't have the FLoC API. Which is available in Chrome 89. For those who want to take a test: https://amifloced.org/ Another reason why it is better to disable third-party cookies.

  10. @roytam1 I've pointed this out several times throughout the years but it seems to remain among the forgotten. The "about:permissions" Permissions Manager is still broken! The last version where the Permissions Manager worked fully was palemoon-27.9.6.win32-git-20190803-23551d191-xpmod.

  11. Welcome to MSFN! If you have installed all available Windows updates up to Win7’s January 2020 EOL, then that might be the explanation. Some of Microsoft’s security updates released in 2018-2019 (after Vista’s EOL) negatively impacted system performance. (The same thing would’ve happened to Vista if you had manually installed all the Server 2008 SP2 updates.) You could test that with another clean install of Win7 SP1 with Windows Update disabled to see if it’s less sluggish. Before trying anything that drastic, have you installed an antivirus on Win7? Not many of them support Vista anymore, but they all support Win7 and can make a system sluggish.

  15. These days many MSFN members read that many modern browses have blocked some ports to prevent NAT Slipstreaming attacks. For members who want to learn more: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/google-chrome-to-block-port-554-to-stop-nat-slipstreaming-attacks/ If we want to take as an example the ports blocked by Google Chome these are: 69, 137, 161, 554, 1719, 1720, 1723, 5060, 5061, 6566. But are our browsers protected too? I did some testing with my NM28 and the answer is yes. For those who want to do a simple test: http://example.com:554/ or https://example.com:554/ Example of what we get on the screen: I ran all the blocked port tests in Chrome but unfortunately Pale Moon decided not to block port 69. To block a port: If our needs require that a locked port be reachable: about:config new string network.security.ports.banned.override

  19. Normally I would direct you to here -- https://lrepacks.net/repaki-programm-dlya-interneta/182-360-extreme-explorer-amp-portable.html BUT builds 2210, 2212, and 2216 of v13 are all BROKEN as far as ENGLISH (ie, Developer Tools). So I remain on build 2206. A Google search found build 2206 here, I suggest it until the newer releases fix the English in Developer Tools -- https://mega4up.com/c9zq51tq6r6i TAKE CAUTION -- "mega" hosting cites try to "trick" you into the WRONG download link! Click on the Free Download button, fill in the not-a-robot-crap, click create download link, click the click here to download, it will usually open a new tab - CLOSE THAT TAB, it is NOT the real download. Click the click here to download a SECOND time - this should start the REAL download -- the file name is 360_extreme_explorer_13.0.2206.0.zip If it tries to get you to download an .exe, CANCEL the download and click the click here to download again until it finally downloads the ZIP file. NEVER download .exe files from "mega" hosting cites! But that's the only place I could find build 2206 as far as a download link.

  22. Many thanks, indeed! palem's post there is, I think, highly representative/reflective of the major part of Moonchild browsers' userbase, and should also encompass users of Roytam1 forks here... The actual URI of the post (by M.A.T.) quoted is: https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?p=211976&sid=0181647fb5c2204a1c681cd16e21004d#p211976 ... As far as I know, no-one here has already gone/will go nuts over it, all is needed is to keep a vigilant eye on UXP+PM issue trackers/UXP+PM master branches and selectively revert/omit what is deemed unneeded for our tree... Even if that, eventually, will just buy us more time (hopefully lots of it...), it would be highly worth it! E.g., I have already warned readers here of the new plan (envisioned by M.A.T.) to move to an install.json based extension ecosystem (deprecating the install.rdf one), I think these developments should be dealt with on a case-by-case basis/when they present themselves... OT: To Sampei and to all observing Easter tomorrow, may you have a very Happy Easter Sunday (... Unfortunately, divisions between communities of the same Faith mean that over here Easter Sunday won't "arrive" until May 2nd ) ...

  25. For what I use of them, I find no real functional differences between 2008 R2 to 2019. As for which to use on a specific hardware platform, I would pick the OS that is certified or qualified for it, so that drivers are available and that support is available if needed.

  27. Hello, I'm here again because I want to tell you a little update, I decided to downgrade to Windows 7 on my Acer Aspire Laptop, because I got sick of Windows 10, I always have problems with it, I wanted to use Linux, but there are some programs that I use can't run on Linux, I wanted to use Windows 8.1 but there's no graphics driver for my laptop, but I could install Windows 7 modifying the installation using MSI Smart Tool to resolve the USB Drivers Problem and I managed to install the graphics driver, it's weird that I could install the driver on Windows 7 and not 8.1, but at least, it works much better than "windows 10". That's all, see you later!

  28. @Vistapocalypse YES! The Vista ship is still afloat because of the renewed interest in Vista due to the invention of the extended kernel, and it will remain afloat for at least the next 5 years according to me.

  29. I mean, you're not forced to use Windows 10 on your new laptop. Linux always exists.

  34. Thank you so much for that. I tried it, and actually got offered an update, KB969084! I never thought I'd ever see the yellow shield in the system tray ever again!

  37. When will Microsoft actually start listening to the people? Guess never, at this rate. Windows 10 is designed to be a dumbed down, cash cow for folks who just want the latest stuff and trust MS to keep things in check. Good luck with that!
