  3. Open the addon with 7-zip or a similar program and on the root there’s a file manifest.json. If you’re using 7-zip right click edit to open it and nine lines down you’ll see: "strict_min_version": "68.0" Just change it to this: "strict_min_version": "52.0" Save and close and it should install. I already had the previous version on there so all that was needed was to swap the old one with the new one.

  4. No, you can't. Did you ever read the rules or are they like stop signs to some people? Here's a piece of advice, never engage in criminal activity. Loose lips sink ships.

  6. I have been able run windows 7 even on "unsupported" ryzen with some tweaks, NVME and usb3 driver was only needed. Also few days ago made win7 works on zen2 to friend with few major tweaks and been running stable so far. Older Vmware works fine even as win 10 guest. I got win10 offline vm on Vmware workstation 7 under XP. Only thing needed was manually download latest vmware tools. If I can still use it on xp win7 with 15.5 player/workstation wont have issues with it anytime soon run win10. that laptop got offical windows xp and windows 7 drivers on dell site. Microsoft cannot just magically make windows 7 or windows xp incompatible with existing hw (expect in theory with bios flash)

  7. That sounds like a new computer? So it should have a 64-Bit capable processor at least, which our computers got around 2007. Smaller computers like netbooks came shortly afterwards, like the Intel Atom of 2009, which was still 32-Bit only. You have to get the proper Windows XP drivers for your machine. The question is, whether the manuafacturer provides any Windows XP drivers. Brand new motherboards won't have XP support, because Microsoft ended the XP support a lot of years ago. By the way, I like "duel booting" too! Old Windows 98 Pentium 3 against a Linux notebook with an Intel Atom. This particular Linux system uses the old SysV starting technique, which it's not optimised for speed. And the Windows 98 machine wins the "duel" on booting, despite being ten years older, but also ten times bigger!

  8. GT/GTX 10 Series does not have drivers for XP so performance will be very nearly 0. Vista performance with 10 series is crippled. If memory serves, DirectX performance is miserable. Any 10 series will work fine with 7, though. Perhaps you should consider a GTX 980ti. It works wonderfully with XP, Vista, and 7, and is only a bit slower than a 1080 would be.

  10. The poll question and option is a little vague. For me, my PC is WinXP, and work is done on XP also. As long as this laptop's hardware do not wear out, and there is no necessity on win7 (or later) I have to use, I will continue use it.

  11. That happens to me too. I find that it helps to open each video in a new tab, all of the settings seem to work right from the start. Now that I found the mpc-be player, which is even better for youtube videos than VLC I don’t have to use google’s horrible player that much thankfully but this addon does make it more tolerable at least.

  13. Why Windows 10? You just could install Windows 8.1 X64 and dual boot it with your XP X86. Windows 8.1 is much better than Windows 10.

  14. I think whether or not it'll be worth it to you depends on what you like to do with your XP machine and what parts you're able to get. During XP's support period, XP64 had a reputation for not being supported by hardware/software. I personally have rarely run into that issue ... at least until after XP lost favor with Microsoft, and compilers stopped providing support for XP, thus causing newer programs to not work. But that's a hurdle all XP OSes face. The main advantage with XP64 is the ability to run 64-bit programs. If you're doing things that require a lot of RAM (e.g. running a web browser with a ton of tabs, video editing, rendering complex 3D scenes, gaming, etc.) you will definitely appreciate this feature. It's not just XP32 that is (normally, without the PAE mod) limited to 4GB; 32-bit programs in general, I believe, are also unable to use more than 4 GB of memory. 64-bit programs can use much more than 4 GB; I'm not sure what the upper limit is. And if you're like me and you max out the (normal?) memory cap of XP64 with 128 GB (because I'm nuts) your 64-bit programs will have a LOT of real estate to use. (I'm not sure if XP64 can go higher than 128 GB. Windows XP64 is technically more kin to Windows Server 2003, and Server 2003's Enterprise and Datacenter editions can take up to 1 TB of RAM.) The main drawback will be that you'll lose the ability to run 16-bit programs. If you've got some favorite 16-bit apps and you upgrade to XP64, you'll either need to have a spare machine running a 16 or 32-bit OS, have your computer dual boot with such an OS, or run those in a virtual machine.' The other question will be sourcing parts that are known to work on XP64 and have driver support. When @XP-x64-Lover located drivers for the X99 SABERTOOTH motherboards, I used that opportunity to give my daily driver some of the best hardware I could find for such a system: i7-6950X CPU, 128 GB of RAM, and with the .inf driver mod described at Matt's Repository, a GTX TITAN X (Maxwell version). It was a long-needed overhaul and damn worth it for what I do. I don't know offhand if we have a database of motherboards with known driver support for XP64, so before you take the plunge you'll want to do research. Odds are if your desired parts have XP drivers, they should have XP64 drivers or at least their chipset will. However, you will want to be sure before you try anything.

I remember downloading update to from windows update before got win98SE cd and even on win98fe only reason to drive corruption was bsod caused by one driver. 20. Try: "RLUSB Generic USB Mass Storage Driver for Windows 95. This Driver supports USB Floppy, CD, DVD and Blu-Ray Drives in addition to Hard Drives and Keys." Also: "Windows 98 RTM has a flaw causing occasional corruption of IDE as well as USB Drives, when transferring data, so use of USB Drives in Windows 98 RTM is not recommended."

  21. Thus far.. @roytam1 has done our community an enormous service with his proficient browser builds. So, between Firefox 52.9.1 ESR; Serpent, and New Moon, I'm able to do everything I need to. When I do have to use Chrome, regrettably, Vivaldi/Opera/Iron are all only based on 49, so I only use it when I truly need to because of 5 years of gaping security holes. Otherwise.. I'm basically on a 'Rickroll'

  23. Stable version (20H2? Nothing about Windows 10 is stable apart from it is crap and that is a constant that hasn't changed...sound problems have plagued Windows 10 and especially 20H2....Several of my customers have had no choice but to buy new sound cards....BUT there is no guarantee with that either...Microsoft still think they can fix problems with drivers....BUT instead cause more problems!! bookie32

  27. @Nojus2001, you're definitely not alone. A weather forum I used to visit that closed sometime late last year or early this year was revealed to be running on Server 2003 until the bitter end. I'm sure that it's found itself mired into tonnes of big corporate networks too. It makes a wonderful workstation OS as well. And this is my 15-hour-old XP x64 install: :

  28. Not in my opinion. Although the more paranoid may eschew it, I do believe the more browser alternatives we have, the merrier! In fact, to me it's clear that day-to -day use requires just a decently working browser and, preferably, also a not-too-paranoid real-time antivirus. All the rest can be done without any need to use the very latest version of whatever program one must use. So Chrome 360 actually is a welcome gust of much needed fresh air into our already very claustrophobic EoS-is-not-EoL situation. Long Live XP!

  34. Microsoft released in a TechNet blog post on February 1st that Office 2019 (Scheduled for release later in 2018) Will only be supported on Windows 10. They also reveal in the post that it will be supported for only 7 years (5 Mainstream, 2 Extended) Rather than the usual 10 years. Office 365 will suffer a similar fate in 2020 it would seem. Source: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/windowsitpro/2018/02/01/changes-to-office-and-windows-servicing-and-support/ EDIT: Albeit unsupported, It has been made to work on Windows 8.x. Not like anyone needs new versions of office, anyways...
