I wouldn't touch that. There's an EOL timestamp in recent versions of Flash Player. It can be altered so latest Flash Player continues to work as usual. Find a hexadecimal string 000040463E6F7742 in NPSFWXX_32_0_0_465.dll (XX = bitness, either 32 or 64) with a hex editor, replace it with eg. 0000C02055148042, that will just change the year from 2021 to 2040. It's a unique string, so only one will be found as long as you got the right file. The string represents time elapsed since Unix epoch in milliseconds, stored as 64-bit double precision float number (no fractional part). The DLLs are in: C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash - 64-bit Flash on 64-bit OS or 32-bit Flash on 32-bit OS C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash - 32-bit Flash on 64-bit OS This is for NPAPI version, but should be doable with PPAPI and ActiveX versions as well, though I haven't tried those. Doing this obviously invalidates the digital signature on the DLL. Pale Moon (and probably other browsers) doesn't mind. I wonder if Flash app could check it. Also, PE checksum is invalidated, but that can be fixed with certain tools. I think there's a high probability that altering Flash binaries doesn't cause any side effects beyond what modifications you did achieve.

<semiOT> The new forum layout caused real havoc to me... 1. The "primary" and "secondary" colour settings (in "Colour Picker") are no longer stored in cookies. My personal preference was Marble (not the forum default) for both, and then I would protect these cookies with a specialised cookie extension, so that everytime I logged-in, those custom colour settings of mine would stick... 2. The newly instituted "sibebar" unnecessarily takes up horizontal screen space and the new "Customizer" wizard only allows for displaying it on the right (default) or left side of the page ... Not only the "reaction" button is just a huge grey circle there: but now the Edit (post) button has been hidden inside a post header ellipsis (...) button, that doesn't work at all in Tycho ! To add insult to injury, to sign-out in NM27 I have to delete MSFN cookies, because the <myusername> button does not respond to clicks! If it was up to me, I would revert the layout changes without second thoughts... But perhaps it's just my middle age revolting against any type of change... If I had to guess, the new IPS forum software is specifically "improved" for the teen-aged users on the latest model of their hyped, touch-screen, mobile device, whereas on desktop devices, basic compatibilty with recent Chromium is all the IPS devs cared for... EDIT: And I just freakin' hate the fact that e-mail notifications now only display a truncated version of the post they refer to, whereas in the previous forum software ALL the relevant post was included in the body of the e-mail; VERY convenient for when the forums go off-line for days (has happened in the past) or for archiving/recovering content when, God forbid, the forum's huge database gets corrupted and months' worth of users' posted content gets forever lost (has already happened once during the time I'm a member here... ) <semiOT/>

Feast your eyes on over 400 updates for Windows 95, 98, 98 SE, ME, 2000, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 combined, all localized in Portuguese of Portugal. Since updates for that version of Windows are still going, I plan on adding them AFTER 2019, (hopefully before Microsoft pulls them from their servers, like they did to Windows 9x updates in 2009 ). So here you'll find updates for XP until April 2014. Now available inside the Windows XP folder. How did you do this? I used a nifty tool called Portable Update, that uses the OS's built in Windows Update engine to track down needed updates and download them into a folder. I did this to fresh installs of 2000, XP and Server 2003, with only a few updates needed to get the Update engine going (like Windows Update engine 3.0, Internet Explorer 8, Windows Installer 4.5, ...). You can get the tool here if you plan to do what I did, but for your native language. For Windows 9x I mainly used Archive.org and a ridiculous amount of FTP archives and collections I found around the Web through extensive search. Internet Explorer 5.5 and 6 were downloaded directly from MS in 2018! Do you plan on doing the same thing for Vista/7/8/8.1/10? Starting with Windows Vista, updates have been language agnostic, meaning the update file already contains all the files for all supported languages. This means there's no need to collect updates specific to one language (except for a few isolated cases, like Windows Live Essentials, Windows XP Mode, ...). So the answer to that is maybe.

It's bad for our community. The other theme worked much better with older browsers we use like Opera 10/11/12. Will it be possible to sign in or to write without KernelEX here in the future? At some point not anymore.

Nobody asked for MSFN to downgrade to the latest Invision Community Software, the old software was objectively better, worked with older browsers, and now I'm really curious to see how IPS Default looked, because I never saw the option to switch to it before.

Look for ISO image of VMware Tools version 10.3.10. This is the last one without functional regressions on Vista AFAIK.

Wanted to say thanks again to Roytam1. Your work is very much appreciated! Past months several of the addresses I regularly visit upgraded their websites, making even the browser releases from around 2019 crap out! Looking for the fastest or most responsive browser releases thus became a moot point, only Roytam1's more recent builds are now practically usable for me.

The colors can be changed with the color picker. The color picker has been on MSFN for a while. Also, I like the new design and rounded edges. It looks cleaner in my opinion. Just sharing my opinion on the new design since you shared yours.

Hello , I'm terribly sorry , it doesn't work for me . First off , I got something square at this place , no any kind of dots appear, second (I guess it is java driven) it doesn't bring the menu up. The old design was not broken for me. And this new Win8/10-style website design with acid colours and round icons (which kinda give me wrong associations , I don't know know maybe it's only me) I really don't like . Please don't consider this as disrespect . I'm on a fairly new Firefox 78 and Vista x64.

Iron Harvest (64 Bit) error . The game uses mono bleeding edge. No such error with win 7 on the same hardware with the same VCRedist and framework / drivers. Application Verifier + Handles Test = nothing happens , the process may start for some milliseconds or not start at all. Hence, no errors too.

Classic Shell appeared not long after Windows 7 was released and supported both 7 and Vista. No Start menu that came from Redmond is as customizable as newer versions of Classic Shell / Open Shell. I would've used it in place of Windows XP's menu as well.

This is easily one of the best forum posts I have read in a long time, can I just say that now. WannaCrypt didn't even run on XP, remember: but all the ISPs and other tech sites just used it as an excuse to spread FUD about NT 5.x and 6.0 to scare people into upgrade to Windows 10. Also the whole thing of Microsoft trying to kill CPUs by lagging out Windows Update on Vista the day Win10 released (due to the free upgrade being exempt for Vista THANKFULLY, so let's try to make less smart users throw their devices away!)

I'd rather recommend than listening to the FBI but to upgrade your very unique Brain.exe instead. It's the best anti-virus out there. The only downside is, that Brain.exe can't be bought for money and downloading it is impossible, too. It must be fed proper knowledge to grow. And then one day, you will be capable of using the old operating systems online without running into a wall. Would I recommend to average users who use their brain on other things than computers to use Windows XP and Windows 7 for example? No, because that would put them easily in danger. But if you know, what you are doing, then you'll be able to avoid the problems. Use a hardware firewall, that you can configure. Block unwanted Javascripts. Block everything, you didn't ask for. Don't click on everything that sounds like a promising help to your problems. Learn to read links before clicking on them. These things. Also consider that something like Windows XP got more secure over time, as less and less people were using it. Windows 7 is still a very attractive target for mean hackers with circa 15% market share (2020).
