  1. I have the distinct impression Microsoft breaks things in the UI on purpose just to keep control. They don't want us making it look better. They're trying to herd us into accepting less of their software. There is no other explanation for Windows being made actively worse and worse. Thanks for your work in bringing back a little elegance to the Win 10 UI, Big Muscle. -Noel

  3. W2k3_SETUPLDR_SP2_to_SP1.xdelta3Most of us don't really need/use the WAIK to build our custom WinPE's. So there were always a problem to get the few tools like wimgapi, imagex or the WIM filter drivers. Attempts were made to use httpdisk to download files from inside the WAIK iso, but it was not a good solution as you still need to load hundreds of MB and it requires to install an unsigned driver. You even had to set your x64 Windows in testmode ... But now we came with a good solution: Our tool uses cURL winhttp functions provided by Homes32 to download only the needed bytes for the hugh WAIK ISO's. There is no need for admin rights and you only need to download 4-6 MB per choosen WAIK. For command line: GetWaikTools -? W2k3_SETUPLDR_SP2_to_SP1.xdelta3 GetWaikTools.zip

  4. That particular release is first of all an old one already. There are newer releases. They're just named differently. As far as I know my binaries are not on videohelp.com. Why should they be? There's no "vanilla FFmpeg build". Every FFmpeg binary is essentially a custom build considering the vast amount of libraries one can include during the compilation process. "Legacy" as in legacy hardware. When I started compiling my own FFmpeg binaries they needed to work on my ancient AMD Athlon XP 3200+ (non-SSE2) cpu. My binaries should work on a Intel Pentium 3. @FranceBB Did you change the thread-title? :D

  5. Indeed. I cleanup the topic a bit and I removed my build. I left the link to the old @VistaLover build but I wrote that I strongly encourage users about using @Reino builds.

  6. @FantasyAcquiesce: >>what version of KMP Player works on Windows 9x? 8. Eventually i may start a dedicated 9xweb topic in the Windows 9x Member Projects section, with the main download on post #1. This vanilla Windows 98 thread is about so much more than just one script, i feel it would be out of place on post #1. I previously edited post #1 of this thread with a detailed request and it has made little difference - offending members won't be named. Edit1: Thread started in 2017 but going strong for now. Note this thread pertains to running vanilla Windows 98 SE. Please do not post misleading information that may not work in a vanilla Windows 98 SE installation, such as kernel mods, DLL swaps from other OS, custom re-compiles, higher software versions that may not run in vanilla Windows 98, etc. Thank-you and enjoy. Whenever a new 9xweb release is available the download link is replaced/updated and a direct link to the post is provided, just like 6 posts up from here. Here again is the direct link to the 9xweb project: https://msfn.org/board/topic/177106-running-vanilla-windows-98-in-2020/page/17/?tab=comments#comment-1176154 Eventually i may start another dedicated Windows 9x Member Project named something like 'RetroZilla Community Edition', whereby the first post(s) will include everything needed to set up the best RetroZilla possible. This will include the RZ browser, my extensions collection, my search engine collection, a custom prefs.js type file to improve security and allow all necessary cipher connection tweaks, etc. This way anyone setting up a new system will be able to one-stop shop for a quick browser install and setup.

  9. I won, its working! Solution was never Nvidia bios. Gigabyte flashing utility, really hasnt too much options. So i tried Nvidia NVflash. When i tried it, i had problem that some Bioses refused to work because is BoardID - there are 2 variants of Geforce6600GT , ids 4300 and 4301. I found out that i need bios with ID - p216h1. When i tried Nvflash, i wasnt able to force bios, but i found that that olded Nvflash (5.93.0.1) has options to overcome it with -4, -5,-6 optimal parameters. Original bios was 5.43.02.27.00 when i searched through TechPowerUp bios DB: https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/?manufacturer=MSI&model=6600+GT I found that tehre is newer MSI bios (5.43.02.69.00) - https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/3163/msi-6600gt-128-050411-2 I flashed it to card and now its working.

  12. For anyone using YouTube via 9xweb in vanilla Windows 98, both SMPlayer/MPlayer v0.6.7 and VLC v0.8.6d work, discussed in and around this post: https://msfn.org/board/topic/177106-running-vanilla-windows-98-in-2020/page/5/?tab=comments#comment-1173021 TinyUpload is working again (yeah), even *.exe files up to 50 MB per file..so dangerous :) In case other links go down here are the goods. The player files should be readily available elsewhere, codecs might be harder to obtain. The files are untouched from original download other than renaming. No JavaScript required. SMPlayer v0.6.7 (SMPlayer_0.6.7.exe, 13.0 MB): http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=32421385938599921768 Codecs for SMPlayer's mplayer (SMPlayer_MPlayer_codecs.zip, 9.57 MB). In a default install, extract files into C:\Program Files\SMPlayer\mplayer\codecs: http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=33821390908445725051 VLC v0.8.6d (VLC_0.8.6d.exe, 9.34 MB): http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=34990583317191199660 Directing the 9xweb script to launch SMPlayer's 'mplayer', the default USER CONFIG entry, instead of 'smplayer' improves video launch time considerably. For SMPlayer's mplayer: f key toggles full screen, number 3/4 keys adjust brightness, arrow keys skip back and forth, spacebar pauses, q key exits. An 800 MHz system, 32 MB AGP graphics, 1152 x 864 resolution and 16-bit colour can play Format 18 videos full screen. Lesser hardware may need to use a smaller window, enable skipped frames, etc.
