  1. Why must there be so much JavaScript bloat. It always gets justified with security, modern, clean and responsive. Does anyone remember "Feather", a light-weight front-end to the site? In New Moon, the "polymer" YouTube is slower than the previous layout in Opera (and Opera is very slow). The "mobile" layout loads fast. But I can't right-click on a link to bring up the context menu. It gets interpreted as a left click and the link is followed.

  2. Today my Windows 10 x64 Pro updated to 18363.752 build. AeroGlass stops to work. dwm.exe crashes several times. Symbols loaded. In debug.log: [2020-03-27 23:18:23][0x2838:0x2A70] Aero Glass for Win8.1+ 1.5.13.1621 x64 correctly loaded (C:\Program Files\AeroGlass\DWMGlass.dll). DLL injection has been stopped. Don't close topic! This is not usual debug symbols problem!

  3. https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/microsoft-warns-of-hackers-abusing-windows-adobe-library-zero-days/ As you can see it also affects Windows XP: More info for mitigations: https://portal.msrc.microsoft.com/en-US/security-guidance/advisory/ADV200006 I recommend users to disable WebClient service. Black Vipers also believes this service for Windows XP: which is therefore also disabled in the SAFE column: http://www.blackviper.com/service-configurations/black-vipers-windows-xp-x86-32-bit-service-pack-3-service-configurations/

  4. I had contacted bigmuscle about the same issue I'm having and on his testing, its the Windows 10 Cumulative Update Build 1909 (Build 183623.752) update that's broken and DWM randomly crashes even without Aero Glass installed. I think all we can do is wait till Microsoft releases and update that fixes the issue with the DWM crashes and perhaps in the meantime avoid the Windows 183623.752 update if wanting to use Aero Glass.

  6. Fraps 1.9d works natively under 98SE: https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/fraps_(old_free_version).html @ruthan Try installing IE6 if it's not installed already. Also the Visual c++ 6.0 redists: http://priede.bf.lu.lv/ftp/pub/Programmeeshana/VC++/vc6redistsetup_enu.exe.html I've never tried installing .NET Framework 2.0 on 98SE myself.

  8. To deal with newer implementations of ACPI on XP, you need to replace acpi.sys in your installation media: https://www.win-raid.com/t5355f45-Windows-XP-Pro-Bit-and-Server-Bit-on-Modern-Hardware.html

  9. The world map is OpenGL accelerated. It loads nvoglnt.dll on my system. Maybe some configuration there prevents it from working. Angle, etc. The engine in Otter is much slower. I've given up on that browser. New sites tend to be loaded^2 almost always. https://i.imgur.com/Fy4Tl8R.jpg

  10. Delock (Tragant GmbH) is German, and as said it is usually placed "above" the normal home/consumer stuff, most probably in the USA has not much of a presence (while it is actually common enough to find their products in the EU), as an example amazon.co.uk has it: https://www.amazon.co.uk/DeLOCK-5-25-USB-3-0-Card-3-0-Hub-Ftersteuerung/dp/B01D68LFDS (but seemingly not amazon.com) Since the thingy is anyway made in China, very likely it exists with some other branding in the US, this one seems pretty much like the same: https://www.amazon.com/Rosewill-Controller-Cards-4-Charging-Indicator/dp/B01GHGX7RI jaclaz

  11. Yes, this has been known for quite some time, however the original posts on it were removed following the June 2018 server crash, so allow me to post here how to get it working, since it requires special steps: 1. Download the 52.9.1 64 bit installer, linked on the list. 2. Extract it using 7zip. In the extracted folder, open the "core" subdirectory: 3. Download @blackwingcat's "Pemaker" program here. After downloading, be sure to run it as administrator, otherwise the following will not work. 4. After opening Pemaker, click the "English" checkbox, and then click on the "load" button on the main program window under the "main" tab. After doing this, browse to the "firefox.exe" file in the core subdirectory of the extracted 52.9.1 installer, and open it in Pemaker. After doing this, change the "OSVersion" and "SubSysVersion" values to 6.0 from 6.1: 5. After doing this, click on the "Save" button and save the file to a location different from the "core" subdirectory, such as your desktop. Repeat these steps for all .EXE files in the "core" directory. 6. After doing this, copy and paste all your modified .EXE files to the "core" subdirectory, replacing all original .exe files. 7. If you did everything correctly, you should now be able to run Firefox 52.9.1 ESR 64-bit just fine in Windows Vista! I will update the Firefox list entry to include this guide.
