  2. Microsoft ruined Skype the day they bought it. They pretty much ruin everything they touch. Just look at Windows Phone. Windows and Office are the only Microsoft products I use. Everything else is third party/open source.

  3. That's why I wanted to use the even numbered versions, because they supposedly have extra features, but I can't say I've noticed any difference!

  4. That's a nicer way of saying it, I suppose. Even Mozilla can't get rid of it because there are several sites that haven't been rewritten to use HTML5 equivalents yet; until that happens, those sites, and the folks who use them, still need Flash. It has several privacy exposures though; e.g., it has its own cookies, and unlike your browser, there are no "add-ons" for Flash (although I think there are standalone apps that can help manage Flash cookies); and it exposes all your installed fonts, which was innocent enough until fingerprinting (even across browsers on the same machine) became a thing.

  5. Here is a list of all updates in all languages with links. I find only the link to the English version of the update, which adds exFAT support (KB955704), if someone has this update in other languages, upload it. XP Updates.zip

  6. Typing from Edge Portable right now. Very VERY fast. All I wish I could do now is: (a) set tabs below the address bar (b) change load characteristics and rendering delay (akin to content.timer and nglayout.initialpaintdelay settings in Firefox)

  11. Skype 7 is dead since April 02, 2019 (signing in to account using Skype 7 is impossible from this day, Skype 7 login servers are gone). But since the Skype session lasts 30 days there are still few Skype 7 working copies remain with account autologon enabled. They will work until the session expires. So (most likely) from May 02, 2019 and later, not a single working copy of Skype 7 will remain.

  13. I don't think I've ever had success using the built in auto update functionality. (At least, not recently). To ensure I have the latest version I always use the "current" links. While you could argue the SHA2 won't run on SP1 or SP2, I have no reason to run anything older than SP3. For example, my HP all-in-one printer that I bought a few months ago requires a minimum of SP3 along with Internet Explorer 8. https://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player_ax.exe https://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player.exe https://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player_ppapi.exe https://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/support/uninstall_flash_player.exe Windows XP will be supported straight through the end of Flash Player support next year, so there's no risk of downloading a new version that incompatible with Windows XP. Adobe itself said as much in its July 25, 2017 press release Flash & The Future of Interactive Content. "Adobe will continue to support Flash on a number of major OSs and browsers that currently support Flash content through the planned EOL. This will include issuing regular security patches, maintaining OS and browser compatibility and adding features and capabilities as needed. We remain fully committed to working with partners, including Apple, Facebook, Google, Microsoft and Mozilla to maintain the security and compatibility of Flash content." I never recommend the SHA1 links with the embedded version numbers because they go dead as soon as a new version is released.
