  1. That is obviously a matter of opinion....and anyone working with fixing this crap on a daily basis would almost certainly consider Windows 7 as an upgrade If you are going to write a three word sentance for something most of us think is s**** then please have the decency to explain "why" Me thinks that a certain person only writes things to provoke....I could be wrong....but then I would like to be proved wrong... I am sorry that SkyySX isn't getting the replies expected....we already have threads like mine where we can write about Windows 10 being a pile of crap as much as we like because that is what the thread is about.... I apologise for adding my comments....just saw red.... bookie32

  3. Good. The issues being : 1) there is NO proof that this happens "anonymously" or "anonymously enough" 2) what is actually sent to MS is NOT adequately, let alone fully, documented 3) in the old way you reported a bug and were regularly ignored, what makes you think that the telemetry data is not also blatantly ignored? (the only good thing is that you don't have anymore to talk with some support rrepresentative attempting to put the blame on you - or read on a board pathetic attempts by totally clueless people) 4) and this is the worst part, the final result will be that we will be ONLY ALLOWED to use our computers in ways conforming to what the good MS guys believe that is better for us based - maybe - on how the majority of other people use their computers. 6. It'll be utterly irrelevant. It already is utterly irrelevant. It'll remain there, since it's unremovable, but will be used less and less.

  7. Well as I think people using Win7 now do not like anything related to 10, and since on 7 you can avoid especific updates, I don't think many Win7 users will download a Windows remake of Chrome when they can download real Chrome if they want, or Opera, or FireFox (as I prefer). So this is going to be just another fiasco. But this seems to me more like accepting actual Edge is another failure, and they are desperately looking for new ideas for the browser (copying others and not developing anything new).

  8. I told you that once, way back when... the most perfect (and difficult) way to do it is to locate kernel32, ntdll, hal and if necessary ntkrnl in-memory and hook 'em there. It has the great advantage the simply by removing the module responsible for doing that restores the system to a plain-vanilla state. This should be done early during boot, preferably at the end of the 1st phase or (more difficult still) at the beginning of the 2nd phase. To do so requires much more savy programming than I ever attained, but I'm positive it's possible to be done. If you follow Alex Ionescu's twitter, you're sure to find some people able to do that. He himself obvously is one of those, but I doubt he'd be much interested in that, now that he became world-famous. But his twitter is a good place to meet others of like ability, and make some interesting friends. Sorry I cannot myself be of more help.

  13. 1. disable automatic windows update - should be recommened. a. if you want to use windows update - only install office updates manually using WUMT / WUMGR / PowerShell b. remove ms office and install a free office then you won't have to bother with wu. c. don't install drivers from wu as they are usually out of date. d. make sure insiders programme is not active so you don't accidently upgrade to some broken beta. installing the big a** "hotfixes" stopped working for me ages ago (failed configuring update error and the repair component store thing never worked either as it always said source files missing when they weren't) so i don't bother with them, i just integrate them in my install media and then do an inplace upgrade to get the fixes applied. never had hotfix failures till after windows 8.1. only time updates failed to install was when the updates themselves were broken and you got an error before they even installed while still on the desktop. component store of windows 10 is a pain in the a**. 2. use O&O shutup10 to disable all the privacy concerns + blackbird to check system a. disable all services not required for general use b. disable *all event logs except app, sys, sec and setup and few others (*will list others later) 3. uninstall windows apps + store 4. install a 3rd party start menu 5. don't you edge, it sucks. use a better browser. (can't easily backup settings, bookmarks, extensions) i recommend Pale Moon fork of Firefox, it still offers customization, uses under half the amount of memory quantum, chrome, opera, no webextensions. leaves out all the bloat that quantum has. you can install lots of addons and still have LOW memory usage. for example quantum with ebay / youtube open i had 1.2gb of memory in use but on pale moon i have 4xx-7xxmb max, drops down to 4xx-5xxmb when a page finishes loading. quantum didn't seem to release memory, just climbed and climbed... best of all, classic firefox ui!!!! = customization / skins etc. I like classic stuff.

  15. How 'bout a handful of testes? Seriously though, @bigmuscle, you should take all distribution as a complement. If your code sucked no one would share. I think you should THANK @nicely for getting the word out about your work. Remember he is doing this for free, and you don't owe him anything for his promotional efforts.

  17. When you are in the software development business, you know as well as I there are always those that just DO NOT follow directions for whatever reason, mostly because people choose not to READ and follow directions, all they want to do is download the file and run it and 99.9% of the time if the software does not perform for them it's only because of my previous statement, people do not follow directions. "If you look into past, you can see situations when I released private version to donators only and someone immediately publish it in different forum - not "by mistake", but intentionally to disrespect my work." You are preaching to the choir my friend but, all I can say is it is all part of software development, like I said in a previous post, if I had a nickel for every time someone took or republished something of mine, I would be rich. Being able to control Copyright on the web is virtually impossible and unless you are a mega software giant that has the time and resources to chase down copyright infringement you pretty much have to put up with it or change your licensing model to make it harder on those that try to redistribute your software, the only thing I can suggest is that instead of a donation key model change to a license key where everyone would get a unique activation number so that if that activation number gets shared then you can blacklist it and the software(s) with that number then becomes inoperable. I COMPLETELY understand that the development of Aeroglass is done on your free time and that MS is making it harder for you to develop it, which is why I don't complain about it and those that do just really do not understand what goes into something like Aeroglass and to keep it up to date, especially with a one man operation that also needs to keep his day job in order to pay the bills. What I don't understand though is how the actions of one person would delay the release of the software indefinitely? I know it gets to be a bit much listening to all the moaning and groaning, personally if it were me, I would just select a handful of testers, and let them test it before release instead of making it available to everyone, then you would not have to worry about things like what happened with nicely happening.

  21. I still buy CDs online, because I like to have a physical copy that I can rip to whatever format I like directly from it rather than either relying on wasting mobile data through streaming sites or resorting to YouTube rips from Russian MP3 websites... I have all but two of Feeder's albums for instance on CD

  22. Good to know. jaclaz I find it hard to believe you hadn't presumed it, way back when... Not at all. Rules are just that: rules. When one decides to use the software, one agrees to abide by them, no matter how nonsensical or arbitrary they may be.
