Requirements Adobe Flash Version 10.3.183.90 Firefox 9.0.1 Greasemonkey 0.9.22.1 Once you've got the above installed, open this link in Firefox to install the script. More information can be found on the script's GitHub page.

  3. End of support means absolutely nothing to people who don't install updates in the first place. And funny that the author of that doesn't know the product history of Windows Defender. Perhaps not, considering they think Windows 7 will become unusable after January 2020. And I still wonder why MS hasn't been brought to task by the antitrust folks regarding the fact that Windows has antivirus built-in.

  4. the topic title says it all -so much for downloading individual hotfixes from Microsoft as they have recently shut down the MS Hotfix service https://www.askwoody.com/2018/born-brinkmann-microsofts-hotfix-service-is-no-longer-available/ https://news.softpedia.com/news/microsoft-might-have-killed-off-windows-hotfixes-523605.shtml https://www.ghacks.net/2018/11/05/microsofts-hotfix-service-is-no-longer-available/

  5. I have this line too when I have the menu bar off on Windos XP. I traced its origin via debugger, so I know how to fix it (it is really a theme related issue). 1. Open the .xpi file with your theme using any archive extractor (I am using 7Zip for example). 2. Find the chrome/browser/browser.css file, extract it somewhere and open in text editor. 3. You need to fix the following block: #appmenuSecondaryPane menupopup { -moz-appearance: none; background-image: linear-gradient(to right, #F0F0F0 26px, ThreeDLightShadow 26px, ThreeDLightShadow 27px, ThreeDHighlight 27px, ThreeDHighlight 28px, #F0F0F0 28px); border: 3px solid; -moz-border-top-colors: ThreeDShadow #F0F0F0; -moz-border-bottom-colors: ThreeDShadow #F0F0F0; -moz-border-left-colors: ThreeDShadow #F0F0F0; -moz-border-right-colors: ThreeDShadow #F0F0F0; } I figured out that setting for example, this value for background-image property solves the problem: linear-gradient(to right, #F0F0F0 26px, ThreeDLightShadow 26px, ThreeDLightShadow 26px, #F0F0F0 27px) I really think this gradient is unnecessary on XP, because there is really NO GRADIENT at all on the screen. Maybe this is some CSS code copied and pasted which was initially targeted for Windows 7, I suppose. So you may even go futher and write background: #F0F0F0; 4. Pack the updated version of the CSS file back into the .xpi using the same extractor by dragging it into a window.

  9. Well, sort of... I've just now tried to download one hotfix, just to check it: WindowsServer2003-KB957910-x86-ENU.exe I've used the link below: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hotfix/kbhotfix?kbnum=957910&kbln=en-us&forceorigin=esmc It was redirected to the page with the message @tain quoted above. Then I closed the tab it was in, opened another one and gave it a "paste and go" command with the same url above... This time I got the old good MS agreement form and clicked "yes" on it... I got once more redirected to the page with the message @tain quoted above. Then I closed the tab it was in, opened another one and gave it a "paste and go" command with the same url above... This time I got the old good MS hotfix by e-mail order page, opened the language selection menu and ticked the PTB version (because I already had the ENU one), and gave the e-mail it was to be sent to. The link to the hotfix inside a zip was sent as usual, and I was able to download the file all right. So: go figure!

  11. erpdude8, that article ends with the paragraph: Which to me seems presumptuous with its, "everyone would have to upgrade to Windows 10", why 'have to'? aren't there other options?, and Win10 is a downgrade, and "It's just a matter of time anyway." If ever I'm forced off Win7 then I've got Win8.1 as my next OS, for a while. If I ever get pushed off that then I'll go back to Linux Mint and to hell with Microsoft. I would never in a million years install Win10 or any upstream derivatives thereof. Of course there is the outlier of ReactOS but when, if ever, that will be stable and usable is anyone's guess at this point in time. But if the drip, drip, drip of its development continues then eventually it will fill the tub.
