  2. First of all, I think it's right and good that someone other than myself is also working on the great and very important extension uBlock Origin Legacy and developing it further. Since nothing has happened for years, I see my efforts here in relation to uBlock Origin Legacy as a kind of initial spark to maintain this extension again and bring it up to date. Based on the way a well-known American moron speaks I would say: "Make uBlock Origin Legacy great again!" @UCyborg has started a promising project on GitHub. I already had a look at it. An indirect collaboration has already taken place, as he has used my internal list of all standard filter lists, i.e. the assets.json file, as the basis for his one. But I cannot and will not comment on direct collaboration at this point. In any case, I will continue to maintain my version here for a while. The next version is coming up very soon. This means that the user now has the option of choosing their preferred version. As I have already said between the lines, a wider range of products generally stimulates "business". Cheers, AstroSkipper

  3. How MSFN prohibition is relevant? Read the topic title again, please. 1 - MSFN board is not available in Russia without VPN! 2 - VPN is illegal in Russia. 3 - Checkmate. So - we shouldn't see any Russians here at all. But they are here, so - they break their own law and going towards criminal prosecution (with FSB at their doors, according to their own law cited by Saxon).

  4. Please, don't try to start a fight! The sanctions which our governments applied are the result of what your country does. Those are facts, there's no "hatred" in that. MSFN is located in France, thus has to obey. The time will come, and one day you all will be ashamed of your behaviour! Though, I don't believe in that.

  5. Anyway. Fixed! After all that, it turned out that the problem was with Malwarebytes Premium, which I use as my Internet security. It has a function which allows it to protect certain programs. I've already had to turn it off for other programs like Acrobat Reader and Word, where it caused freezes. I should have realised that it was a prime suspect here. I switched off its protection of Chrome, and everything came good. Quite why it wasn't causing the same problem with Supermium 121 I have no idea, but 122 is now running fine, in fact much more quickly than 121 ever did. It is of course very likely that Malwarebytes was slowing down 121 as well, but just not making it crash. Thanks everyone for the help. Cheers, Dave.

  6. Hello @Felipefpl! Do once again a clean install! That means you have to manually delete the file ublock0.sqlite inside your profile subfolder extension-data. But don't forget to backup your settings and rules first! BTW, I tested updating from version 1.16.4.33 to version 1.16.4.34 and didn't notice any problems when doing this with the alternative method.

  7. Same for me, probably needs to make sure whether the portable flags are on. --disable-encryption --disable-machine-id some versions use --disable-encryption-win

  8. Dave, be on your guard with that "Thorium". Recently, there was a scandal with the author of "Thorium," something involving child abuse, and the files were inside that browser. The author had to acknowledge and came out with with a confession, all that after numerous attempts of denying it. I shan't post links, I don't want to get MSFN involved in that drama. And who knows what else is stuffed in that browser! All is easily googleable.

  9. Now I've finally got it working properly, Superium 122 seems to be pretty good on 32 bit XP. It still eats memory voraciously, so I still get the 'out of memory' tab freezes, but I've not seen any problems with fonts or any other display issues, once I got the scaling right. I still think it's a very impressive piece of work, and a boon for XP users.

  10. Using VPN is illegal in Russia, let me ask you, what are you doing here in the first place? According to the Russian laws, you're here illegally and you will be prosecuted. "Putin bans VPNs in web browsing crackdown" https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-40774315 "Signed by President Vladimir Putin in July, the law imposes restrictions on proxy avoidance tools." https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-41829726 My advice for you is to calm down and let MSFN members be in peace. No one here "shoves" hatred into you.

  11. Oh, just found this. "I do not believe you can. In October 2021 Nvidia dropped support for Win 7, 8, and 8.1 and the 3050 was released recently so that is why the older drivers will not recognize it." https://forums.evga.com/EVGA-RTX-3050-on-Windows-7-m3532944.aspx

  12. Yeah, Im certainly not moving onto the next version. Even if that means having to disable windows automatic updates. Not until I know I can retain my classic UI features.

  13. You don't have to, facts tell for themselves! Besides, it'd be boring because you all tell the same. Regarding VPN, the administration of MSFN had their right reserved to block whatever they want, it's written in the rules. When (and if) they allow Russia to be whitelisted again, they will notify you, stay tuned. I hope politics wasn't the reason you joined MSFN, seeing it's your first post.

  14. That was totally clear to me and I didn't expect anything else. But the list can still be useful for a while.

  15. I have just copied my previously downloaded list from my installation with the version number 3.6.3.2. Therefore, this last version can't disappear.

  16. I wouldn't risk my computer with the officially proven to be compromised browser. In the comments they wrote many other nasty things it does, in addition to what already been found, but of course, everyone decides for himself. The Reddit community advises to delete it. Are the just stupid? I don't think so.

  18. 1. Make sure you have the latest version of progwrp.dll (v1.1.0.1), the one that comes with v122 2. Looks like a pref/profile corruption to me ; something inside your previous (Sm121) profile doesn't go down well with v122 of the browser... You can always back-up your existing profile and attempt to launch Sm122 with a pristine new profile - if the fresh profile behaves normally (e.g. loads fine websites), then you'll be sure that what you're facing now isn't H/W related, but attributed to your migrated Sm profile from v121... 3. Launch your existing profile (migrated from Sm121) but, if possible, disable first ALL already installed extensions (implies you have access and control over "chrome://extensions/" ) - relaunch and check how it goes from there; if it was one of the extensions the culprit, then start enabling extensions one-by-one to find the one misbehaving in Sm122... 4. Provided you have access to "chrome://flags" in Sm122, click "Reset all" (top bar, right button) and relaunch; see how you fare... Imported bookmarks/history/saved account credentials shouldn't be affected by 3 or 4... NB: In the off-chance you have ProxHTTPSProxy configured system-wide, please disable it! Edit: 5. If you're launching Sm122 with custom cmdline flags (Windows shortcut to chrome.exe + various cmd flags), make sure you're not issuing any flag rendered incompatible with Sm122; 6. Revisit the v122 and v122-hf release notes, in case you come up with something else yourself ...

  19. As far as I know, Serpent 52 gets more patches from the UXP branch than Serpent 55. The reason for that is not all of these patches can be applied to Serpent 55. Therefore, Serpent 52 is a bit more up-to-date. But @roytam1 and @VistaLover can tell more about that. And if I remember correctly, they already did that in @roytam1's browser threads in the past.

  24. There was no misleading information in @AstroSkipper's post, and MyPal 68 works perfectly fine with that German DNS provider with no-logging policy. P.S. "N." word is a bad word, at least in the US.
    3 points
  25. Wait a minute, so you knew it doesn't work in MyPal right from the start, and you didn't warn the people of MSFN! This is disrespect and disinformation, at the very least. Yes, multiple accounts here use MyPal, what's wrong with that? Care to explain? What are you angry with?
    3 points
  26. OMG, that multiple acc. crap again. Report! What's stopping you, huh? You don't report because you know it's not true. We can't. You give dangerous, erroneous advice all the time, like this once again. People may have troubles with the police because of what you suggest, some countries have very harsh laws! The articles you attach, you clearly didn't read yourself, otherwise you'd see it doesn't work with MyPal.

  27. This is for MS Edge or very recent Firefox only, therefore - it won't work with MyPal, this post only brings confusion to the users of MyPal. Besides, they acquire false sense of security with your unprofessional advice, thus they can get caught in a very unpleasant situation. Most importantly, it's even written in the supplied article, but you failed to mention it, why?

  28. You're wrong. Let's see why. Information from the official source: "Mypal68 - A browser for Windows XP based on Firefox 68." Again, 68. Minimum requirements for Enter Encrypted Client Hello (ECH) is Firefox 85, again 85, And keep in mind, 85 is in beta mode, for testing purposes only! Ideally - much higher, recent version is needed. "Firefox 85 replaces ESNI with ECH draft-08, and another update to draft-09 (which is targeted for wider interoperability testing and deployment) is forthcoming" Developer source article. https://blog.mozilla.org/security/2021/01/07/encrypted-client-hello-the-future-of-esni-in-firefox/

  29. And to be on topic again, VPN is an abbreviation for Virtual Private Network. The emphasis is therefore on Private. I don't think I need to say any more at this point.

  31. Everything is possible, we don't see who's on the other end of the cable. But NotHereToPlayGames never complained about the VPN problems. Struggle to see how this is relevant to the thread, explain?
    3 points
  32. AFAIK, government-approved VPNs are allowed. "Goverment"-approved VPNs are no VPNs in that country. ? NotHereToPlayGames is either using a government-sanctioned VPN, is a scofflaw, or is not posting from Russia. Struggle to see how this is relevant to the thread, explain? You misquoted Saxon. The quoted statement Using VPN is illegal in Russia, let me ask you, what are you doing here in the first place? According to the Russian laws, you're here illegally and you will be prosecuted. was not addressed to @NotHereToPlayGames, but to someone else. See my quote! And TBH, something like this shouldn't really happen. And certainly not to a native speaker if you are one.

  33. When I talk about data protection and internet security, it's always about privacy. I belong to neither the one nor the other school you mentioned. And people who spread all sorts of ill-considered stuff on the Internet or are willing to give away unlimited data can't be helped anyway.

  34. I have a similar Xeon Board from 2009. It was sold with the first edition of Server 2008. Server 2008 was issued to OEM sales on January 2008. Server 2003 and XP64 had some odd behaviour with the C-states of Xeon CPUs. I had to force C1 state only, and the issues were gone.

  35. @UCyborg I know you have implemented the "redirect-rule" directive in your new release. But if one wants to make your version 1.16.6b1 not perform such redirections, the entry ignoreRedirectFilters can be set from false to true in the advanced settings. Then your version 1.16.6b1 will behave like version 1.16.4.30 up to 1.16.4.34 again although this entry has the default value false in these versions which I never had to or intended to change. But when doing so, these strange noop.txt and noop.js entries are no longer in the logger. The network filter @@*$redirect-rule was only introduced in version 1.22 and therefore cannot be used. Although I understand the idea of such redirections, especially to prevent breakage of websites when blocking certain content, these entries in the logger do personally bother me if I am honest.

  36. When these empty files noop.txt and noop.js are returned, will they be stored locally on the computer? Where are they generated at all? And what exactly means local in this context? Local file on the server, local file on the client/computer? In any case, I couldn't find such files. TBH, this all is a bit confusing.

  37. Please re-download the file uBlock-Origin-Legacy-1.16.4.34-special-mod-by-@AstroSkipper.xpi if you have already downloaded it and have fun! After installing, click the button "Purge all caches" if installing over the previously downloaded version 1.16.4.34! Cheers, AstroSkipper

  45. No, I do not use the property window.status. The script code for creating such a status bar has not grown out of my own hands, though. I simply took over an old script which is still working in Mypal 68. TBH, there are a couple of scripts but most of them are not compatible with Mypal 68. My part was finding working code. And that wasn't so easy due to the age of Firefox 68. Many scripts targeting this Firefox version have been lost or replaced by newer ones. However, I modified the css file for exact placing the status panel onto the status bar by myself. And the css file I am using is much more modified and exactly adapted to my browser, in which I also made changes to the interface font. This file is therefore useless for other users.
